I think that if she worked for him for two years at one point that he was a friend or at least known to the family...and if they share a nationality it is not unusual they would be friends. I do think though that Le has reason to believe that in this case, they were more than friends.
Well of course, they could say they are friends. A lot of people do after working together. That doesn't mean a young woman who used to work for you continues to call you over a three year period. If they were truly just friends then the wife should've known about all of these phone calls. Did she?

If Phuong was actually pregnant, how could the true identity of the "baby daddy" be determined? When pregnant women in the US often don't even know who the daddy is, how are these cops going to know?

Well, it seems to me that there are a lot of people these days who can't write and spell very well. I think in the case of some of these newspaper articles they are student interns, or something. Anyhow, here in writing is the essence of the 10 O'Clock News report from last night. May be a couple of things added from the report.

Missing Woman's Ex-Boss Served Search Warrants

" . . . friends and family held a vigil for her in an attempt to continue to draw attention to her disappearance.

Amid the balloons and candles, Fairfield detectives watched the somber gathering closely, taking photos and video the entire time.

The next day police briefed Phuong's brothers, who have spearheaded the search for her, and told them they had served search warrants to 40-year-old Tchu Nguyen at both his house and his business, Postal Express in Suisun City."

"Sources say police were led to Nguyen because when Phuong's car was found unlocked outside a Fairfield book store with her backpack and other belongings in it, Nguyen's number was the last one showing on her cell phone.

A neighboring merchant described to KTVU how he saw plain-clothes police and possibly FBI swoop down on Nguyen's business Friday evening.

“What I saw was a bunch of feds, a bunch of suits, bunch suits and ties. That's what I saw,” said the merchant, who requested not to be named. “These guys were too quiet, and too well dressed to be anything else.”

Police also served a warrant at Nguyen’s home, in Fairfield's Rancho Solano neighborhood. At both locations, sources say, computers were among the items seized."

I hope they would have more evidence than a phone call to be taking computers from his home and his business.

While this guy does appear to be a fairly good suspect, if it ends up that he's innocent, this guy should be able to sue and get millions of our tax dollars.

I certainly believe they did find something to justify the search warrants. MOO

Hm. What if this was a random kidnapping? Has anyone searched for any other missing people in the area?

That article says that LE briefed the family.

The family told KTVU that they regarded Nguyen as a "brother" and don't believe he had anything to do with Phuong's disappearance.

I'm so torn on this. The family still thinking he has nothing to do with it, makes me think he's the wrong guy. But the search warrants and the 8 hours of questioning makes me think LE has *something*.

I'd like to hear more from Phuong's brother I think on what he and the family think about whatever LE told them.

And I'd like to see if LE names the ex-boss a POI in the next few days. It could be that after the questioning and search warrants they've actually cleared him at this point.

Phuong might've been calling his personal cell phone instead of the family landline.

It sounds to me as if the two families are all friends, which is what I meant to say...in reply to a poster who indicated that just because he was married, it was likely more than friendship...that does not have to be true. I will wait for more info, as none of this seems to be coming from LE as far as I can tell.
Obviously they have to have good reason to search...unless they have messed up royally. But I would rather not think he is guilty as then it does not bode well at all for Phoung, IMO...

Former boss says he's not involved in Suisun City nurse's disappearance

News10 by Jason Kobely

"FAIRFIELD, CA - The former boss of a missing Suisun City woman said he had nothing to do with Phuong Le's disappearance and was cooperating with investigators as the search for the young nurse moved into its second week late Sunday."

"Fairfield police Lt. Al Bagos said Sunday that the department would not confirm any details of possible search warrants served at the Nguyen home or his business and would not comment on any possible connection between Nguyen and Le's disappearance."

"When contacted Sunday, Nguyen would not confirm whether his home and business were searched. However, Nguyen told News10 that he has been visited by police in connection with the Le case and was cooperating fully with investigators.

Nguyen also said he was home last Sunday when Le disappeared and video surveillance can prove he never left during the time Le is believed to have disappeared."

There is more ...

Huong Le said he is "surprised, shocked and confused" by reports that Nguyen's home and business were searched.

From Phuong's brother in that same article.

ETA: what kind of video surveillance would prove he never left home?

  • #453
Probably some sort of video surveillance for home protection. I've seen home invasions caught on home videos systems and I read a while back about a lady at work who was watching her home being burglarized as it was happening and called police and the arrest was on video too.

  • #454
I will have to think about what kind of video surveillance would prove that but, in the meantime, assuming he has and uses a cell phone, I wonder if his cell phone left home during that time and if there is a way to tell?

The pings. LE can subpoena the records.

Maybe he lives in a condominium, apartment, or town home complex with videos in the hallway and/or in the parking lot that would catch everyone leaving and returning. That's all I can think of. moo

she got to the bookstore, got out, her back windows were left down, as usually since the front ones did not work.....she put her stuff in the trunk for safe keeping and went inside the bookstore...........she may have come out around 6 or so, retrieved the cell from the trunk and made the phone call, put it back in the trunk and went back in, where she was seen by someone working there i believe around 8 or 830 pm.
Since the keys are missing, im speculating she took them with her at one time inside the store...........Perhaps, there still inside laying on a shelf somewhere, maybe she laid them down, and forgot about them on her way out?
Or in fact, she did take them with her after leaving the store
for the final time. The ex boss, seems to be cooperating fully with LE.
And admitted, she mentioned she was frustrated about the fliers and other things which were true.

2 questions
1. Has the family called anyone in Vietnam just to see if perhaps she is there? Just to eliminate that as a possible.
2. Has LE checked to see, if any calls were made to a taxi service sometime before she went missing from a phone line inside the store?.......say around 8 pm or so, depending on how long it would take a cab to arrive there.
If the keys are not laying somewhere in side the store, then she took them with her.

She left her passport at home, but could have gotten another one, and could have sent cash in advance overseas in a account she sat up.
could have bought a plane ticket in advance, days or weeks perhaps.
I am keeping hope alive here, until there is no more hope.
