Sorry, what I was trying to say is that it's not a straight road, but a windy back country kind of road that is also very remote. Why be up there? A person certainly wouldn't have to get that far out of Fairfield before it gets mighty quiet on those roads. KWIM? Makes me think the person knows the area and was up that far for a reason. Maybe because of one of the many little dirt roads?

Thanks. Yes I meant to say 27 minutes - it is about 14 miles. It is a back road, but the road is continuous, and follows a straight path, and strangely enough past the college she just graduated from.

BBM (bolded by me)

Wonder how near the college her body was dumped? That would be an unbelievable coincidence and smacks of someone knowing her all too well. moo

On HELP FIND PHUONG Facebook page it was posted, 23 minutes ago, by Phuong's brother "Search party has been cancelled". This was the search party planned for Saturday - tomorrow. God Bless my friend, Phuong.

Benicia Mom, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Phuong was a beautiful and wonderful young lady, and this is a terrible tragedy. Please accept my condolences. You and all who knew Phuong are in my prayers.

Sincerely,
BeanE

Anybody knowledgeable about jurisdiction? I find it curious that the remains were found in Napa county, but were turned over to the Solano county coroner. That's telling me (with my limited knowledge of jurisdictional issues) that they believe death occurred in Solano county.

If so, what about the body/crime scene would lead them to know so surely that death occurred in Solano county?

I think this is very unusual, is it not?

Is it just me or is the media out of control? All in the name of a story and getting that shock value on tape. What a horrible thing to do to a family, and to do it without LE they further risk destroying evidence at the scene. And what if it wasn't her, then you just took some poor family out to see some other dead body? And what if it was her. What am I missing here?

That's beyond disgusting. Calling the family AND taking them to the scene? What. The. Hell.

I am so sorry to hear the news :(

Perhaps it won't take long to ID her, candidates for boards are required to submit fingerprints.

May she rest in peace. She had her whole life in front of her; and to have completed the grueling process of becoming an RN and passing NCLEX...and then to have her life cut short...is so very, very, very tragic.

I hope they find whomever did this...and that he dies a slow, difficult death without an RN by his side (and I don't think I've ever said that...but damn. You know? Just damn).

Benecia Mom, and to all Phuong's friends and family...have some measure of peace knowing she lays in the love of God.

Best-
Herding Cats

No telling why her killer would pick a particular spot to dump her body....evilness can't be explained.

I don't know much about it either, but it is curious. With the last case I was on the body was found in another county and that was the county who did the autopsy even though they were pretty positive he died in his home county (by natural causes) and this has always been my experience. Maybe it has to do with Solano having better facilities or more resources? I had figured it had crossed jurisdictions and therefore they'd be working on it together being that now there is likely a crime scene in Napa Co. as well. Total guess by me, but it would be interesting to know why.

I just talked to my girlfriend that lives on Highway 128 an she said they found her body down the ways from her house on 121 which is in Napa,

I believe since she was from fairfield which is a short distance away they are working with that police Dept..not sure where they did the autopsy for sure..

Our stupid paper in Napa hasn't even had it in their paper
My friend said they had the road blocked off all day yesterday..body was very decomposed she heard..I might get more news later since that area, everyone knows each other.. So SAD

I guess they are assuming this was a dump site only? (sorry to sound so crude) and that she was killed closer to where she was taken?

I guess anyone could have just driven off into rural areas looking for a remote spot....or we could learn that this area is linked in some way to the ex-boss.

Sadly, I am torn, I kind of hope it is not him as she was a part of her trusted family-community, but on the other hand, hate to think of a random psycho on the loose.

Even if it is a dump site only it is still a crime scene though.

Yes, many states consider the location of the crime the main crime scene (if they know) but the jurisdiction still goes to the place where she was killed and they will have to attend to any other scenes involved. But I am curious how they could know, in this case, where she was killed. I guess they could probably tell if she was NOT killed in the site where she was found...depending on cause of death, of course...
I hate sounding so clinical so soon after she has been found. I was thinking about her family all night and doubt they have slept at all since she went missing...and will miss many more nights of sleep. It is especially sad to me to think that they came to America for a new, brighter life...

I'm trying to think of what evidence they might have found in the places they searched that would show definitely, or most probably, that she was killed there. Places searched that we know of are her car, TN's home, TN's business.

The only thing I can think of that show definitely or most probably where she was killed is pretty gross - pictures or videos. Or decomp fluid? Ugh. I don't even want to go there.

ETA: I thought of one more thing - a hair with a death band.

What do you mean by a hair with a death band?

I am hoping if there is DNA that they can process it as quickly as they did in the Chelsea King case...but probably won't, as they were still looking for Chelsea, whereas poor Phoung is already dead...not the same urgency...

Sometimes there can be a dark decomposition band on hair strands that occur after death. They won't nec. be on all hair strands, but they are NEVER on a strand from a live person. So, if a hair was found somewhere else with this band on it, you would know that the person was dead at that location. Hope that makes sense.

Just a thought, but if they have other places where they think she may have died, a HRD dog can alert on the area even if no body is there and it has been "cleaned".

Well I'm not an expert lol, but I learned about death bands in Caylee's case. If a hair has a death band - a certain dark ring at the root - it can only be there if the person was deceased. Live persons don't get these rings on their hair.

In Caylee's case, hair with a death band was found in the trunk of her mother's car. The case hasn't gone to trial yet, but it is widely anticipated that the State will argue that because of that hair in the trunk, that Caylee, deceased, was in the trunk.

ETA: Sarx types faster than I do ;)
