A journeyman electrician for the State? With that rent and those many kids? I tried looking in the State employees database but paywalled again. :(
Average IBEW Journeyman Electrician yearly pay in California is approximately $72,115, which is 27% above the national average.

I think a family could live on 72k in Placerville if they were frugal.

If they are fostering (I believe I read that here), they likely get money from the govt as well.

Just to clarify, did they both go to the police station? Why didn't one go and one stay. That's weird to me.

in a msm that was posted somewhere in this thread it said that step mom and dad spent I think 4 hrs at police station trying to get the police to help them.
my gut tells me that there is a lot that was going on that dad didn’t know about. :(

Paywall.

Can you cut and paste?

Edit: If you're also hitting the paywall, you can go to the main SacBee home page, and click on the video on the front page. Very interesting.
“We woke up for work like normal,” Lindsay Piper said. “Kids started waking up. Breakfast started getting made. I went upstairs to get Roman and he was not in his bed.”

Two hours after finding Roman missing and searching the house and property, Lindsay Piper said they drove to the Placerville Police Department, about three minutes from their house. But the station is closed on Saturdays.

Next, she went to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. But they didn’t have a deputy available, Jordan Piper said. When they did get to speak to a deputy, they told the family they’d be on the lookout for him.

The couple did not say why they did not call 911 instead.

According to a daily log posted by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, a “courtesy report was taken for Placerville Police Department for juvenile runaway” at 12:16 p.m. Saturday.

Jordan Piper said he was frustrated that “the sheriff’s department took two hours” to get the attention of the Placerville police.

“And the only reason we got it is because I physically pulled two deputies over in their department car ... so I kept pushing, I kept pushing,” he said.

According to El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office records, the “B.O.L.” or “be on the lookout” report was entered at 1:17 p.m. Saturday and forwarded to the Placerville Police Department. The department confirmed receipt the missing person report 10 minutes later.

Between the time the family discovered Roman missing and when he was found, about 15 hours had passed.

During that time, more than 40 people from Jordan Piper’s place of work — he is a journeyman lineman in the state’s fire hardening project — joined the search. And more than 250 fliers were printed and handed out in restaurants, bars, parks and businesses all over town.

“We were going anywhere where we could get more people, more eyes, more feet on the ground,” Jordan Piper said.

Police scanner traffic from that night indicates police went to El Dorado High School, not far from the Pipers’ home on Coloma Street, where Roman might have wandered.

But as the search waned into the night, police officers drove Jordan Piper back to the Coloma Street house, talking about suspending the search for the night and gearing up for the morning.

Amid a conversation about the weather and other small talk, “They told us they were hopeful he walk back in through the front door,” Lindsay Piper added.

“And then she (the officer) followed it up by saying we found your son and he’s deceased,” Jordan Piper said.

“We have no idea what happened, where they found him, what the autopsy report said, if that’s even done, any suspects, nothing. We have nothing. I’ve called repeatedly, all day long, everyday,” he said.

Jordan and Lindsay Piper went to the Placerville Police Department in the dark morning hours Sunday, where they sat for more than four hours before giving their statements. They were searched and forfeited their wallets and IDs to investigators.

Meanwhile, Child Protective Services took the seven children inside the home into protective custody, the three youngest under their legal guardianship, according to court records.

Roman’s siblings didn’t learn of his death until days later at a court hearing when they read it in a file given to them by their CPS case worker, Lindsay Piper said through tears.

“It’s the most horrible thing ever,” she said.

He just looked like a dirty, happy little boy that really needed a bath.

I'm with you on that he looks just like the average and active 11 year old boy.

A lot of other posters cringing at the photos ...

IMO, those aren't bruises on him - they are shadows from whatever is over on his left hand side; they are casting down on him most likely because whatever it is (a tall lamp??) has a window behind it causing the shadows. There's no bruising on his face, nor restraint bruises on his wrists. One just needs to also look at his shins to see the very distinct shadow lines running across his body. And, for another, absolutely zero parents (even the wicked step-mom type -- Note: I AM the mother of four kids - two mine and two my husbands. All four of them are "ours". Full stop. I have red hair too. All of which would make me a viable "suspect" to some should anything ungawdly ever happen to one of mine).

No abusive parent or step parent would ever:

1) Ever consider taking their freshly bruised and battered child into a public library; and
2) If they did, it sure as heck wouldn't be in a t-shirt and shorts with all those "restraint" bruises and bruises on the child's head visible to the entire world.

And, taking a photo of them like that in a public library and posting for public viewing?? … not happening either.

So far, this death is deemed "suspicious" as are all possibly-unaccompanied deaths until accident, suicide or foul play is determined. That'll come with the autopsy results so until foul play is factually and actually determined and announced by LoE ("no threat to the community" thus far they have stated), there are no suspects in this case nor even POIs at this point in time. IMO, if one does come along, it may possibly be from within the home, but I'm not thinking it was either one of his parents.

As for removing the kids? Well, there's been the suspicious death of one and, according to the news article earlier, the reporter said the living room looked empty, so if the bedrooms were too then that may have something to do with why. So, I'm not even willing to stretch that factoid of removal into "evidence" of anything abusive at this point in time. Another article stated they had just moved into this particular house the week prior, so still unpacking, buying new couch set etc, whatever, is still a possibility too.

Anyway, my .02cents worth on this case thus far. It's cold in Ottawa today - must go start getting ready for work.

I have to politely disagree. I spotted those bruises straight away in the photo I can't believe dad was that blind.

A journeyman electrician for the State? With that rent and those many kids? I tried looking in the State employees database but paywalled again. :(

Edit: I was even willing to re-subscribe, just Wednesday and Sunday for awhile--but they want $98 in advance.

Maybe somebody else can look at the database and see.
To my understanding he is still

A co worker posted on social media that they all helped search around 1:45pm on Saturday but didn’t search the home or yard of the home as either the family or police already had. According to this article the police couldn’t have as they weren’t engaged yet. The family may have but if you were panicked, you’d appreciate any rework? Also, it’s being reported by a family member in the maternal side he was found under rocks. The family here is saying he liked to hide?!

Those are 100% bruises, shadows are NOT GREEN IN COLOR. A shadow is whats on his leg from the book. His knee, chins and face are bruised. I don’t know what happened to this child, but those are bruises regardless.

IMO, it's the lighting causing the shadows to look that way.

How are you explaining the obvious shadows on same angle going across his leg? A book? Same angle as the other shadows?

Would you take a kid out in public like that in shorts and a t-shirt? I just don't see it happening in this lifetime. I do believe Librarians are a "duty to report" bunch as well. if those actually were bruises, there's no way in H E double toothpicks they'd have missed them and would have reported such.

I seen that picture only once and I could hardly even look for more than a couple seconds :( I don’t even know what to think at this point. But I can’t look at that pic again. Poor little guy.
