Tricia is checking into the Criminal Complaint and expects to have an answer by tomorrow afternoon.

Websleuths got burned before in this regard. We are just being diligent and extra cautious in checking this out. As stated upthread, it is concerning to us that the investigation continues (presumably with a potential for additional charges), and that no MSM has picked up on publishing the document or linking to it as they have done in the past. We are just crossing T's and dotting I's here and would rather err on the side of caution.

Until Tricia or Admin give the go ahead, please do not upload the Criminal Complaint to this thread.

Just looked & no court dates for either of them thru 2/12/21....

Okay folks, Tricia did some checking around and this is the decision.

Seattle1 will be allowed to upload their copy of the Criminal Complaint that they have received or will receive. As long as credit is given to Thomas Frey of the Mountain Democrat as the source, and the images are clear, everything should be fine.

Final answer !!

Thanks to all for your patience.

@Seattle1 - I assume you are on a different coast than I am, so while it seems I'm being impatient, I really just want to make sure you see this when you next find yourself visiting WS . :)

@Seattle1
Thank you for your time and efforts in getting a copy of the complaint. (Thanks to Thomas Frey @ THE MOUNTAIN DEMOCRAT as well).

(Edited by me to delete the linked Mountain Democrat article. The DA's Criminal Complaint attachment did not follow with the quote. Please pardon my inexperience with the use of WS tools.)

Jordan and Lindsey Piper plead not guilty for killing Roman Lopez | abc10.com

Feb 8, 2021

PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Roman Lopez's father and stepmother plead 'not guilty' for the death of Roman when they were in court on Monday.

[..]

They made their first appearance in court on Monday to be arraigned for their charges. No additional charges were added.

[..]

Police initially investigated the case as a suspicious death. In the initial search of the family's home, police did not find anything, but in a second search of the home, investigators "located Roman deceased inside a storage bin in the basement," according to a press release.

The Pipers are expected back in court on Tuesday, Feb. 9 for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m.

Roman Lopez's Parents To Make First Court Appearance After Being Charged

Feb 8, 2021

Due to the complexity of the case, details regarding the location of Roman’s body weren’t released until more than a year after he went missing and his subsequent death. And it’s that complexity, among other factors, that Sacramento-area Attorney Mark Reichel says may be factoring into there being no murder charges filed.

Reichel said charging the suspects with murder now could lead to the Pipers demanding a speedy trial, and the prosecutors may simply need more time.

“They charge what they can right now. That holds the people,” Reichel said. “That’s going to hold them in jail, and they’re not going to get out on bail because this is the specter hanging over them. It gives them time to figure out what the true cause of death was and whether they can make a murder charge.”

Reichel also added that the pandemic may have contributed to the delay in the investigation and releasing of information.

A few small details the two videos I listed just above:
  • Torture charges carry a life sentence, child abuse 2-6 years, poisoning 2-5 years
  • Child abuse experts consulted both in CA & NY
  • Jordan Piper has retained an attorney, David Brooks, with thirty-five years of criminal defense experience: David Allen Brooks #119250 - Attorney Licensee Search
  • Lindsey Piper told the judge she cannot afford outside representation so she'll be assigned a court appointed attorney

Most curious of all, according to this, is that JP has an attorney now, and his wife, who cannot afford one, has a court appointed atty. This says to me, he's going to turn on her.

Especially if he didn't know about the poisoning, it makes the most sense.
I don't really have any reason to believe he didn't know, but it's certainly possible.
So, benefit of the doubt and all that.
