Prehaps refusing to log on to online classroom for children out of school due to lockdown??
I’m not sure what you’re suggesting rises to the level of a “felony child abuse” charge?

Hadn't got to child abuse charges when I posted . At the time I replied posters were wondering why whispers mother would state the charge was in relation to covid 19 .

this is such an odd case! i was wondering if high blood pressure could cause confusion and apparently it can..
Hypertensive encephalopathy is brain dysfunction caused by extremely high blood pressure. It’s reversible with quick treatment but may be life-threatening with severe complications. The first symptoms affect your general wellness, followed by confusion, vision loss and loss of consciousness. Contact emergency services if you have any symptoms.

not sure if this is likely to have happened and if it makes sense with what we know so far!

I’m trying to read between the lines of the press release. Why might LE believe she was headed to Northern California…do they mean, more North than Modesto, and where exactly? Bay Area? Sacramento? Humboldt? Lots of possibilities

Could she have just kept her family doctor

California Medicaid does pay travel expenses for qualified medical appointments. It is like .54 a mile now, something like that.

I knew people who would stack medical appointments, specifically for the travel pay. Instead of doing all appointments in a day, they wanted them spread out, so they could collect travel pay for each separate appointment. Part of living the poverty lifestyle. Not making light of poverty, it is just a method of getting more based on circumstances.

But none of this makes a lot of sense to me, I avoid traveling at night. It just isn't as safe. So, travel at 4 am? Then leave at 9 pm? That is a long day. Not sure why she didn't spend the night. It makes an accident more likely due to sleep deprivation.

perhaps but it was really difficult to get anything like that to stick during Covid and that’s a hefty charge for something like that.
Seems more like actual abuse but relating to Covid 19’doesnt make sense

So I believe the confusion here is the warrant from the information that I’ve read. She had a child abuse charge. The warrant was due to not completing something related to the child abuse charge that would be the follow up classes or whatever they’re called kind of like anger management for someone who gets an assault charge if you don’t complete anger management You did not fulfill your sentencing requirements and so on and so forth, so I believe people are speculating that perhaps the warrant was due to not completing whatever class or program she was supposed to complete for child abuse, and the reason that perhaps it was not completed, was due to COVID-19 and all those kids being home is what I think the other poster was suggesting

Because whispers mom said the warrant was because of Covid going on during that time so we were just trying to figure out what she meant by that in terms of the child abuse charge and not following through

This interview a few hours ago says it was child endangerment and she tried to turn herself in but due to high blood pressure they wouldn’t keep her? Was that during Covid? Idk. Confusing. You wouldn’t think if you tried to turn yourself in and were turned away the warrant would remain active.

What if - there never really was a doctor's appointment? It was just a reason to leave Elk Grove.

And...I saw somewhere in this thread a mention that the car was borrowed from a family member? Anyone have a source for that? If that is true, maybe the doctor's appointment was the reason she gave for asking to borrow it?

Both her brother and the SO she lives with stated the car belonges to the SO’s father.

Nope , cant hold people to compulsory attendance during a state of Emergency . Even if the program is online.

She has a 17-year-old from a previous relationship as well as an 8- and 3-year-old with her partner. The kids are "all devastated wanting to know if and when they will see their mother again," her brother

Maybe it’s just the way the quote is written, but what about Sandra? Is the “partner” her father also?

She had one head light out , and was driving at night with a sick baby and a warrant out.
I think this is going to be a horrible car accident.

None of Whisper’s family nor her partner, stated Sandra was sick. If that were true, I have to believe they would have stated that in a media interview.

I think I assumed the baby was sick because of the doctor apt.

Reasonable assumption, but the appointment could have been for many reasons other that being “sick”. Developmental delay, muscular/skeletal disorders, ect.

I just listened to an interview with Whisper’s brother and AWP. Her brother stated she has a suspended license, that along with the missing headlight was why she was avoiding highways. I’ve asked a Mod for permission to post.

ETA-also in this interview, brother states Sandra had shots at appointment and had began running a fever. Thanks @Soulmagent 🙂
