Bringing my comment from the last thread forward, because I would like to hear everybody's thoughts:
Any thoughts on why that specific location was chosen for the drop off? There are tons of very isolated freeway exits along that part of the 5 freeway. So why there? Does CG have any connection to that exit? Is it possible that she was being held right at that exit all along? Maybe she was "held" (holed up) in that junkyard? A junkyard would have hose clamps, chains, and metal things to heat up and brand yourself with.
My theory is they/she wanted her/herself to be guaranteed rescue. The drop-off point is another thing that makes me scratch my head. If there were enough people to make dozens of 911 calls, surely there were at least 5-10x as many people driving in the area in that short period of time. I would think a car stopped or slowed down enough to get SP would have drawn attention, but maybe not. The "kidnapper(s)" are already taking a huge risk in allowing their hostage to leave. It appears as though one had no qualms about shooting the other. What's one more murder? Then you're taking the added risk of dropping off a victim near a busy stretch of interstate on one of the most traveled days of the year...nope, not buying it.
It does make a great Lifetime movie though. I would have picked Christmas as my drop-off date, but it may have been too cold to go barefoot.
Question, for those of you who think her story is BS, what do you think reaaaally happened? I know there are many threads where this has been discussed, hard to go through so many posts, tia.
I've got several theories, but almost all involve a voluntary disappearance. Money, fame, "greener pastures". Not sure if I could rule out any potential reason.
Her on-record history shows she's capable of self-injuring herself, being manipulative, and erratic behavior. The story she's told shares too many coincidences with the blog post that I can't seem to write-off. I can only imagine there is far more that we haven't heard regarding her behavior.
My top theory-
She's unhappy, not the center of attention, feeling lonely, not happy with her marriage, possibly not happy with the financials. She opts to start internet dating/texting in hopes of finding those greener pastures. If LE were able to unearth a texting history with MM, I suspect there were more that were done more secretly, although I suspect MM was the greenest of the pastures. I think there in an electronic device that KP and LE do not know exists (leaving behind the phone would mean leaving the only way of contacting anyone).
So her and MM start making plans to meet up. When that falls through, she's feeling even more lonely, more discouraged, still not the center of someone's attention. I think this would make someone with her history act out. My theory is there weren't kidnappers, but there were accomplices. Whether it was a friend or some anonymous person she found online, she had planned to be picked up that day. I think it was planned to look like she didn't voluntarily leave from the beginning. Voluntarily leaving your husband and small children would reflect poorly on your image that you've so carefully crafted for everyone to see.
So she's picked up at the specified location, leaves her phone so she can't be traced. Again, not sure what happens or where she goes, or how she gets there. But I think the plans that fell through as well as what she's already done cause a lot of emotional turmoil. I think she likely self-injured herself over the entire period as a way of dealing with emotions. I think the brand was more painful than she expected and she couldn't leave it on long enough to leave a significant wound or scarring behind, hence while LE wasn't able to easily decipher what it said. Or maybe it's just really hard to reach that area and she had to move it around a few times.
I think after a couple of weeks and not finding greener pastures, or maybe coming to her senses a bit, she starts having some regrets. Maybe she's watching the news and hearing the reports shifts her back into reality. I think she wanted to go home, but again, gotta protect the image, so she has to have a good story so no one thinks she abandoned her children. She's already pretty bruised up from self-injuring, so it's not a huge leap to think she maybe added a few more, ran to any home improvement store to get some kidnapping gear, and found herself a ride to the interstate where she was guaranteed to be found.
My #2 theory-
SP, KP, CG, and/or maybe others were all involved from the get-go in a money grab/public spotlight scheme. The lie detector only works if you ask the right questions. I'm guessing popping a few pills before taking a scheduled test would make it difficult to get accurate results as well. Financially beneficial for practically everyone involved. I could probably force myself to cry for a 6 figure payout.
My only theory that involves some level of involuntary actions still starts out with SP voluntarily leaving to meet someone, but that someone wasn't who SP thought he was.
