Bringing my comment from the last thread forward, because I would like to hear everybody's thoughts:

Any thoughts on why that specific location was chosen for the drop off? There are tons of very isolated freeway exits along that part of the 5 freeway. So why there? Does CG have any connection to that exit? Is it possible that she was being held right at that exit all along? Maybe she was "held" (holed up) in that junkyard? A junkyard would have hose clamps, chains, and metal things to heat up and brand yourself with.

My theory is they/she wanted her/herself to be guaranteed rescue. The drop-off point is another thing that makes me scratch my head. If there were enough people to make dozens of 911 calls, surely there were at least 5-10x as many people driving in the area in that short period of time. I would think a car stopped or slowed down enough to get SP would have drawn attention, but maybe not. The "kidnapper(s)" are already taking a huge risk in allowing their hostage to leave. It appears as though one had no qualms about shooting the other. What's one more murder? Then you're taking the added risk of dropping off a victim near a busy stretch of interstate on one of the most traveled days of the year...nope, not buying it.

It does make a great Lifetime movie though. I would have picked Christmas as my drop-off date, but it may have been too cold to go barefoot.

Question, for those of you who think her story is BS, what do you think reaaaally happened? I know there are many threads where this has been discussed, hard to go through so many posts, tia.

I've got several theories, but almost all involve a voluntary disappearance. Money, fame, "greener pastures". Not sure if I could rule out any potential reason.

Her on-record history shows she's capable of self-injuring herself, being manipulative, and erratic behavior. The story she's told shares too many coincidences with the blog post that I can't seem to write-off. I can only imagine there is far more that we haven't heard regarding her behavior.

My top theory-

She's unhappy, not the center of attention, feeling lonely, not happy with her marriage, possibly not happy with the financials. She opts to start internet dating/texting in hopes of finding those greener pastures. If LE were able to unearth a texting history with MM, I suspect there were more that were done more secretly, although I suspect MM was the greenest of the pastures. I think there in an electronic device that KP and LE do not know exists (leaving behind the phone would mean leaving the only way of contacting anyone).

So her and MM start making plans to meet up. When that falls through, she's feeling even more lonely, more discouraged, still not the center of someone's attention. I think this would make someone with her history act out. My theory is there weren't kidnappers, but there were accomplices. Whether it was a friend or some anonymous person she found online, she had planned to be picked up that day. I think it was planned to look like she didn't voluntarily leave from the beginning. Voluntarily leaving your husband and small children would reflect poorly on your image that you've so carefully crafted for everyone to see.

So she's picked up at the specified location, leaves her phone so she can't be traced. Again, not sure what happens or where she goes, or how she gets there. But I think the plans that fell through as well as what she's already done cause a lot of emotional turmoil. I think she likely self-injured herself over the entire period as a way of dealing with emotions. I think the brand was more painful than she expected and she couldn't leave it on long enough to leave a significant wound or scarring behind, hence while LE wasn't able to easily decipher what it said. Or maybe it's just really hard to reach that area and she had to move it around a few times.

I think after a couple of weeks and not finding greener pastures, or maybe coming to her senses a bit, she starts having some regrets. Maybe she's watching the news and hearing the reports shifts her back into reality. I think she wanted to go home, but again, gotta protect the image, so she has to have a good story so no one thinks she abandoned her children. She's already pretty bruised up from self-injuring, so it's not a huge leap to think she maybe added a few more, ran to any home improvement store to get some kidnapping gear, and found herself a ride to the interstate where she was guaranteed to be found.

My #2 theory-

SP, KP, CG, and/or maybe others were all involved from the get-go in a money grab/public spotlight scheme. The lie detector only works if you ask the right questions. I'm guessing popping a few pills before taking a scheduled test would make it difficult to get accurate results as well. Financially beneficial for practically everyone involved. I could probably force myself to cry for a 6 figure payout.

My only theory that involves some level of involuntary actions still starts out with SP voluntarily leaving to meet someone, but that someone wasn't who SP thought he was.

yes, it does have that familiar ring about it to me too

Yes, very strange. Fits in with the rest of the strangeness of this case to me. Kind of like ask us no questions, but please donate to our GoFundMe account. I still agree with posters who early on said this case was similar to "balloon boy."

BBM.

This is concerning to hear. I'm sorry you experienced this in this way.

((Hope4More))

That breaks my heart. [emoji22]

Thanks for the empathy, y'all, but I'm fine and have received nothing but support (including here on WS, in the Bill Cosby thread ages ago) when I finally began talking about what happened.

My (ex) fiance's response was so devastating because he asked me the same question I had tormented myself with, which was, basically, why I had put myself in such a vulnerable position? To hear it from someone else was to have my own self-blame reaffirmed, no matter what his intent.

(Very briefly, the cop had intervened to prevent someone close to me from harming himself, then offered to help me understand why that person was so desperate, and to suggest ways I could help. I was 17. When he told me he could only do that on his own time, and invited me to his house so we could talk, I trusted him and went, and was raped).

I was mistakenly sure I was to blame for what he did, and I had done absolutely nothing to invite, encourage, or to earn in any way whatsoever his violence against me.

My point in speculating about SP being reluctant to tell what happened because of how the community already feels about her is that if she knew who or why she was targeted , and had done something that triggered that kind of (unforgivable) incredible rage & violence in someone, I don't know how in the world she wouldn't blame herself and be unwilling to make her self-blame (and reasons for it) known.

I gained 100 lbs. and my hands/forearms did not change a bit

Not if her normal weight was 100. I went from nearly 140 to about 106 very quickly when I was not well last year and I don't think my hands changed. At least nothing with how my rings fit changed. And when I did start to regain, it only took a few weeks to put on 10 to 15 pounds.

WHY ...

Why are members sleuthing family member social media accounts and posting about it here? It is against Websleuths TOS.

Posts have been removed and we are going to have to start issuing Time Outs for members who continue to disregard The Rules that are in place here.

I would truly hate for my significant other to guess at my weight.

He could have rounded off to 100.. Since he said she lost 15% of her body weight, and 100 down to 87 is 13%, maybe she told him after the fact that her weight had been more like 102.

Interestingly, she was really underweight even at 100. If you look at height and weight charts, 114 would have been "low" for a 5'4" female. It would have been low for someone who is 4'10".

I missed this detail. What blog?

And unfortunately we have a lot of info to suggest she is a dishonest person and can tell an incredible story.

There's the infamous blog article attributed to her. It defies logic that that wasn't her but police state they have zero record of such incidents occurring. And SP taking on a whole crew and winning is ridiculously far fetched.

Her mother's calls to police stating she was harming herself and blaming it on mom is another example.

And then anyone remember her wedding blog? Well we all know she was married before KP. But in her extremely detailed wedding blog, within the very descriptive and colorful tale of their fantasy courtship, replete with perfectly timed sunsets and a storybook proposal, she talked about the difficulty of moving in with KP and how she had never lived with a man before.

What?

In fact the timing of events within her fantasy marriage tale has her engaged before she was even divorced from dude number one.

Of course liars can be and are victims of crime too. It's just hard to be able to count on anything she says given her propensity for storytelling. So it may be impossible to determine what happened to her and why and if perps are eventually caught, to successfully prosecute them. Because ALL of her past nonsense would likely come out as it goes to her credibility.

The Skinheadz post where she talks about standing up to Latina bullies.

I have a question.

Let’s say SP returns but doesn’t say anything to LE. Zip, nadda , nothing.

She can’t be charged with anything because she didn’t alleged anything, correct?

People are allowed to disappear if they want. I mean it’s not against the law.

But this became so much bigger than a runaway wife..media, searches etc.

So instead this morphed into Gone, Girl 2...maybe not by design but by desperation .

Anyway.. MOO

Right. People disappear all the time, and then re-emerge later. I remember a case where a teenage girl disappeared from her motel where she and her family had stopped while traveling. She turned up a few days later, pretty far away, was fine, and that was the end of it. Police would do a welfare check and cancel the missing persons report.

The difference is when you allege that an abduction occurred.

Correct. Yes. It would have been easier for Sherri to just say she had left, if that was the case. People would have forgotten about her by now.

Exactly. Gone Girl 2.0.

I'm just leaving a link because I don't want to get the threads confused.
THIS IS WHAT AN "FBI" sketch artist does!

SP "pictures" are embarrassing and look like they were done in the 70's.
This tells me they didn't really do them.

That's true. My hunch is that Gone Girl 2.0 was looking to upgrade to Husband 3.0 like Hoosier952's theory. For whatever reason that fell through and she met with someone else, and like Lone Traveler stated that person had other intentions like S&M to teach her a lesson. I can't imagine she ever planned for LE to be as involved as they are and tracking phone numbers with which she was communicating.
