I am extremely thankful that Sherri is alive and can be reunited with her children. This is the best possible outcome, but the mystery remains. As others have pointed out, there are so many jarring factors that don't fit the demographic or don't fit the natural time frame. The logical theories for me are (1) that the family quietly paid the ransom without the knowledge/ approval of LE , so she was released; or (2) that this was an inside job. As much as I'd love to expand on my ideas for (2) there is too much evidence and information that is unavailable to us, so we can only speculate about it which is not appropriate when something deeply traumatic has happened to this family.
I will say that I don't understand why they are now releasing photos of the children to the media along with their names and ages, when the mother has recently been violently kidnapped.

Me neither!!

You guys would be good to ask about this:

I feel like in every case there are some weird circumstances and some initial red herrings, so I would expect that in this case, too. It seems, IMO, that this case could go either way and I'm just waiting for LE to give their opinion.

But a ton of people are saying that nothing adds up.

The only things that seem very strange to me are that it was (by SP's account) two women who abducted her and then released her and that a citizen offered a reverse ransom.

But all the other things, the phone, earphones, half-wrapped present, previous marriage, wedding enthusiasm, attractiveness, texts to husband, husband checking find my phone when he couldn't find her, etc., more or less support an "abducted while jogging" scenario.

Are there other key pieces of info I am missing or overlooking?

Good point. One reason I doubt it's a hoax is that Sherri surely would've come up with a more believable story than being abducted in broad daylight by two Hispanic females. I could probably come up with a hundred stories more believable by the time I go to bed tonight. So, that makes me more inclined to believe Sherri, not less.

Do you think it's odd that LE did/could not question her thoroughly? I understand she was traumatized, and who wouldn't want privacy with their husband after what she went through. But I'm wondering if it's SOP to let a crime victim go home and not be questioned in a meaningful way? She and Keith called the City of Redding Mayor today to thank her. But has she met with investigators?

From what the sheriff said yesterday, she was emotional (upset? I forget the term) and so they intended to interview her formally in the next few days. That's just one more thing about this case that just seems so unusual to me. I've seen cases where they waited a bit, because the victim was in a coma or so doped up on pain killers they couldn't participate - but time is of the essence here. I would think she could participate in at least a short formal interview.

That portion of I-5 is heavily traveled at all hours of the day and night. It's the main highway up to Northern California, Oregon and Washington. Sacramento's airport is a few miles from where she was let go right off I-5. I do that route often in the early hours of the morning. I'm wondering if she was dropped off on a side country road and walked over towards the highway. That church is an exit north of the main Woodland exit. Very risky to drop someone off there if you don't want to be seen.

I saw some photos attached to one article. The photos showed the area LE was examining. The road was a two-lane highway, not an Interstate. So, I'm guessing she was dropped off at a remote location just off the Interstate, allowing the driver to then hop right back on the Interstate and get some distance before anyone discovered Sherri. At least, that would make sense to me.

I'm sorry, I'm probably not the best one to ask about this case ... I've just never seen anything like it.

The things that you mentioned, like being pregnant, etc are indeed intense, but rather than causing her to become confused, the natural response would be to remember EXACTLY where she was - her body language and especially her eye movement suggests she's creating a narrative as she was speaking.

I'm at a loss as to why so many are reading so much into everything/anything in this case says or does. Her sister is 6 months pregnant, and just got news yesterday her sister was located and alive. I mean, that's kind of a massive emotional overload and all she was doing was trying to express her family's thanks.

I just read she was found by a road between co17 and I5, and that they "meticulously" searched that area and land around the church . So I thought maybe it had some significance. Kind of random, I guess. :)

Got it. Thanks. :)

For me, the fact that she was abducted by two women, held for no ransom, was released in relatively good health in a place she could easily be found, meaning she wouldn't be further harmed where they left her. That's an awful lot of care & consideration for a stranger abduction by experienced criminals, in my opinion. They appear to have gotten nothing out of it, plus they had to hide & house SP and feed & clothe her for weeks. Sounds like they *incurred* expense, as opposed to extorting money. Who does that? Is there another documented case?
I really have no idea which side of the equation is the hinky part, though. Are the perps some sort of fake kidnappers on a lark or was there no abduction?
The kind of things that seem to align with an actual kidnappings are pretty familiar to most adults who've watched television in the past 20 years or so, so virtually anyone could manufacture all of it - or all of it could be genuine.
It's the circumstances of the snatch-hold-release that are so, so inexplicably odd.

Why the long pause, then - like stopping to think "what should I say", "what can't I say", "what shouldn't I say" about where I was?

It was a straightforward question - at 3:20 remaining in the video (Facebook link below) - "where were you and when did you learn, of the good news?"

Her response - "um. . . (hesitates, sighs, looks up, looks down, closes eyes). . .I heard on Thanksgiving morning . . that she was found."

Interesting body language and definitely not joyous. It seems it would be impossible to hold in the exuberance and excitement.

I am NOT judging, I just find it interesting.

Good point, if anyone, they should be calling LE and living in their laps right now until they find these 2 hispanic women.

Don't you think LE spoke extensively with her in Sacramento? I believe the Shasta Co Sheriff indicated that Sherri was speaking with Yolo Co investigators. He also said Shasta Co investigators would do follow-up with Sherri, once she returned home. Just because we don't hear about it doesn't mean it's not happening.

I thought she looked (and sounded) emotionally exhausted.

Perhaps the Ransom was paid, and the family was notified earlier then law enforcement. Maybe they didn't want to jeopardize her release and so they needed to play it cool until they could confirm she was ok. I don't know anymore, it's all just so crazy!

Yes. That struck me as very odd as well. I would think they would hold off on posting photos of their children until there was an arrest or arrests. Asking for privacy then posting photos of the kids with their information seems contradictory.

  • #237
I agree with those of you that have mentioned that you wish the exact names and ages of the two little children, along with additional photos of them, were not being put out there.

If the people that abducted and held their mom captive for weeks are still out there and ever want revenge, the less specifics out on the Internet about those children, the better.

It would be hard to truly feel joy, if faced with the reality that ones sister was chained and beaten for 3 weeks. Maybe the sad reality was hitting her at this time and it was sad.

I don't mean to be "that poster" but could you please link to a msm article that states she was chained and beaten for three weeks? I've surely missed that important info. Thanks in advance.

How can a woman who has her hands "bound" and is "chained" to something...a tree maybe, summon help from passing motorists?

If SP was bound in chains - assuming they were regular silver-color chains - and she was standing by the roadside of I-5 trying to flag down someone - and the driver(s) who saw her obviously had their lights on it would not be difficult to see her in the dark.

Think of it like losing a sewing pin or needle on the floor, you can't find it so you turn off the lights in the room and shine a flashlight onto the floor and you see it.

I'm sitting tight until the press gives us further information about the case.

They were so distracting. I tried to just listen to her but I kept catching myself trying to make sense of them. I ended up having to watch some parts twice.
