I've seen numerous posts about Sherri not being kept overnight in the hospital. I'm not sure if people realize that hospitals don't just admit a patient because something bad happened. It certainly is possible that she had been beaten, and the hospital didn't need to keep her. If her vital signs were stable, they would send her home. Even if she had a concussion, it wouldn't necessarily mean a hospital stay.

Do we know where the GoFundMe page's total is going?

I wanted to make a comment about in these cases in general. So many people seem to hate those crowdfunding things at times like this and feel highly suspicious of them. But the fact is that when there is a missing person or a tragedy or some sort, the loved ones of the missing or dead person often can't or need to not work. Can you imagine trying to work when your spouse is missing? Or your child? Or even after they come home right away? And if you live, like many, from paycheck to paycheck, or if your bills will be defaulted if you miss more than a few days of work, something like this can be devastating in more ways than one.

Then, there are also the costs of a search. It costs money to print fliers. It costs money to order those huge missing person's signs or the freeway signs or to hire private detectives, etc.

It also costs a lot to afford therapy and other things to help a person recover from trauma.

The only time those things have caused me to raise eyebrows is when it is someone who is unrelated or unknown to the family or estranged from the family, who has started the site, or if the person is a suspect in the disappearance or death of a loved one.

Otherwise, I fully understand the need.

I wonder why they even bothered to have her do a press conference. If anything it just added to the questions and attention to the story.

The press conference was to thank all the people who helped search for Sherri. If they had NOT released a family statement or done a press conference to thank volunteers, they would face backlash for that, IMO. :moo:

I passed two Hispanic women this morning standing outside a dark SUV. They were trying to rescue a kitten. I think before LE says any type of bolo info, they need a few more specifics.

We've had two second hand pieces of information in MSM:

One says the dispatcher claimed she might be badly beaten.

One says the witness said she didn't look to be injured.

Do you think we should avoid saying she was or wasn't beaten until we've got first-hand confirmation on this? I've seen a lot of comments talking about it one way or the other and I think discussing the potential of IF she had been badly beaten is different from stating that she was. And vice versa.

I don't want anyone to feel I'm telling people how to post - I just wondered others' thoughts on this? Do you take either piece of information from MSM as fact and/or one piece of information over the other?

If she didn't do an interview, how many people would hyper critique her and the rest of the family for their inaction. Funny how it turns out she/they are hyper critiqued anyway. Go figure.

I have no idea of what the motive for kidnapping would have been. They didn't ask for a ransom - one was offered. Also, this victim is much older than what is typically seen with trafficking victims.

Hopefully, time will tell. Glad she is alive.

It was a CHP who relayed to sheriff deputy that she was chained to something. I transcribed the audio file last night and heard it myself.

Yes, I get that and I'm not doubting you heard it. I'm doubting that it was relayed in the proper perspective. She obviously was NOT chained to something presently when found. The witness said she was waving a "flag" hopping on the side of the road...she wasn't chained to anything when found. The witness saw both of her hands in the air waving a piece of material (so obviously they weren't chained to anything) and her feet were not bound (so obviously not chained to anything) that's all I'm saying...what is said in the initial rush and sighting and what has really occurred gets messed up quite a bit.

I have to admit, I thought that a family statement would have been sufficient if there was no intention to give further information in a Q&A session. But that's JMO.

Same here. I'm much younger, but I was sent home after a violent assault. The police came and interviewed me and possibly the medical personnel. They took pictures of me, etc., but even though I had sustained injuries that kept me off work for several weeks, none were life threatening. Hospitals are very expensive. They do what they can to get people safe, stable, and on their way.

How weird. If they were letting her go, why would they restrict her movement? Why would they care how far or where she ran? They obviously wanted her to be found or they would've let her off in the middle of nowhere. Not chained to something right near a road.

Chained to something doesn;t have to mean she was chained to something static on the highway, like a post. A passerby said she was practically in the road. I take chained to something to mean she had chains on her. That might have been attached to something she could walk or move with.

The only thing that makes any sense to me is that a ransom was paid. Otherwise, the law of averages would say she would not be released alive. Anyone vile enough to kidnap someone, especially in broad daylight, would not be taking the moral high road IMO and there would have been no motive to release her. I have read various accounts that alluded to Keith's parents being somewhat affluent but have nothing to back that up so consider it rumor.

I agree that it is possible some sort of ransom was paid to get her released because I dont think kidnappers would keep her this long and just let her go out of the kindness of their hearts. Especially if they had indeed beat her up. I hope she is ok physically and hope at some point they release more information on her condition.

It is such a bizarre case because these never usually turn out this way with a kidnapper releasing the victim unless some money was paid.

In some cases even if money was paid the victim ends up dead.

The risk of the kidnappers getting caught goes up exponentially when you have the kidnapee alive to talk to investigators about what they went through.

I cannot think of a recent case like this one.

I hope LE finds out who was involved.

It seems a bit odd that two female strangers would kidnap a female jogger; hold her for three weeks, give her a beat- down, and dump her on the side of the roadway. This to me, seems gang related.

Sherri is not a member of a gang though. I've never heard of an actual gang kidnapping someone not affiliated with their gang or their rival gang, and keeping them hostage for weeks.

I understand that but we do not have a typical case here. We have an extremely high profile case of a missing mom who after 3 weeks is found. I'm really thinking that hospital protocol of "treat 'em and street 'em" applies here. If anything, they would be overly cautious. This is just my opinion, severely beaten in medical lingo does not allow for a treat and release in my neck of the woods and in my experience, that's all Im saying.

Respectfully, how is it obvious she wasn't chained to anything. Was this confirmed? I can think of several scenarios where a person could be chained in some fashion and still move as reported.
