Is it just me ? Generally speaking rapists and sexual sadists don't bother with condoms. I think these will come back as totally unrelated.

That is a good theory. If that is the case, I don't know about down there, but here we have a lot of people who drive the used police vehicles that still have the search light attachment. And that is one thing they look for in rapists...someone who drives those cars among other things.

Although it seems they took they removed the handcuffs from the box after the abduction. Kind of indicates to me that they were not sure about doing it but decided to. Not sure about that..just thinking outloud. That was dumb of them to throw the box and condoms out there likely knowing they would be found.

ITA: It also re-enforces in me the ex-military theory, and I would not be a bit surprised if the perp had applied for a job in LE, FD, or a security job, something where a uniform would be issued. IF it was a LE job, then I suspect he was turned down due to a dishonorable discharge from the military. Call it a hunch, gut feeling, but I have seen similar stories in the past. He is a wannabe, and holds resentment for not being accepted for a security type job IMHOO! :moo:

There are 57 RSOs in Morgan Hill. The links are in the SAR thread in the basement here on WS. When I was researching RSOs in some of the neighboring communities, including San Jose (which has 1,225 RSOs, btw), I found some of those RSOs also had last-known addresses in Morgan Hill.

The DNA tests on the condoms would be key! The perps DNA on the inside, Sierra's on the outside, will link the two. Even better if the POI lies and says he has never met Sierra.

I'm a little confused by your post. Are you stating it was a sick joke, or you believe it was a sick joke?

I agree, it is hard. I never let my DD do dangerous things alone. I even ended up driving her to and from school because I caught her taking rides with older friends a couple of times. The bus stop was t the bottom of the hill at an intersection where a lot of our friends lived. They would literally stop a few feet away from where she was standing for the bus, so of course they would offer her a ride. And I didn't like her riding with new drivers.

But I was mostly referring to the statement that they are not going to allow their 15 yr old to go anywhere on their own, for safety sake. I think kids need to be on their own in safe locations to learn how to make their own decisions.

I agree that she might have agreed to take a day trip with someone and they turned out to be evil. Or it could be a landscaper or local employeee or a neighbor even.

It's tough when they become driving age (or their friends do). I feel for Sierra's mother in more ways than one ... I'm sure the move to Morgan Hill was done with Sierra's best interest in mind. But it also seems like a different environment than her previous HS, which might have been hard on Sierra.

I so agree that teens need to have the chance to make good (and even not so good) choices while under our roofs. Crossing my fingers that this ends better than it could.

If this find is connected it may have been placed there recently,after Sierra's disappearance. Sounds like someone is playing with LE...Someone in that small area very close to her street MOO Because it surely would have been found if it had been there all along MOO

All this article all has what was found. But more importantly please read what Mark Klass and Dennis says about the searches happening. It tells me people wants Sierra found . And that with all the bad news we hear daily there are more good people in the world then bad.

I don't think the condoms are connected. Why throw them out by the side of the road? They could toss them in any trash can anywhere and NEVER have anyone question where they came from. But putting them out in the open brings the questions to the forefront.

I can easily see why they tossed the cell out of the car when they did. They could not have it pinging near them or the GPS being followed. And even the bag had to go, for the same reason. they did not know if it had a ho,ming device on it. And they didnt want to stop and be seen holding it to throw it out anywhere.

But the condoms and the little box? There is no reason to throw out in the field. imo

Right, it if had been rained on and is cardboard, it would be all mushy with faded lettering...is that how it was found? Or was it intact and fresh-looking? Makes a big difference, IMO, whether or not it is related at all.

Drop the orange man onto this map for a Google Streetview and walk-about. It shows where Sierra's home, bus stop and phone were found. I will try and update this map tomorrow to reflect the recovery location of her clothes, and this new piece of evidence.

ETA: The handcuff box and 2 condoms were found "at the end of Palm Avenue, west of Santa Teresa Boulevard in Morgan Hill. It's about a mile down Palm from the intersection of Dougherty Avenue"
