I'd bet polys have been failed and lawyers
Have been had. They don't have to prove they
Didn't do it LE has to prove they did!

I have a feeling LE pretty much knows Susan's fate but
The need evidence to arrest who they believe responsible

Actually, I don't believe polys have been taken, but that is just a guess. Of course Mark Klaas always suggests husband/boyfriend/wife/girlfriend (whichever the case may be) offer to take a poly right away so that he/she can be eliminated. I'm betting that didn't happen here.

I still cannot imagine more not being done to find Susan in the beginning and now as well.

Kjac22, Susan's son, mentioned previously in the thread (in the beginning) that LE Never asked anybody to take a poly. I would think that is because of the law in California that it is not admissible in a court of law, UNLESS both parties in court agree to it, then it could come in depending on the situation of why a poly was needed in the first place, and this is something I read online, so perhaps I can search where I found that ruling.
Okay, I found it.......

"Juries may think lie detector tests are always accurate even though they're not. Because of this problem, the state of California now strictly limits the use of polygraph results in criminal jury trials.

In California, the results of a polygraph test can no longer be presented as evidence in a criminal case...unless both the prosecution and the defense agree that it's okay."

Maybe Susan's family members were not asked by LE to take polygraph's because they have alibi's and are not considered suspects.

  • #606
I read the post concerning the polys. However; what Mark Klaas was saying is to volunteer to take one early on so as to eliminate yourself and LE can move on and look elsewhere.

LE and the FBI use the polygraph as an investigative tool and not intended for court. I know I'd volunteer to take one and then say, "Now go out and find Susan!"

Given the circumstances of Susan's disappearance, I think LE should have asked, IMO. I hope LE is still on top of this case.

I just have to believe that we will one day log on to WS and have some news on Susan. Meanwhile, I'm going to keep an eye on the unidentified.

Well, there was an alibi only to a point, IIRC. It is not verified as to the exact time Susan went missing. Nothing and no one has been ruled completely out.

I assume Susan's husband is roughly the same age, maybe in his 60's (don't know if he was several years older than her, or about the same age) as they were living in a retirement community… correct? Many people in their 60's are extremely healthy! But of course some may have high or unstable BP, or other heart related troubles (heart rate, etc).

If an individual had blood-pressure or other heart issues, would a polygraph be considered inaccurate and therefore useless as a means of ruling someone in or out? (For investigative purposes… not the courtroom).

Just a question, I don't mean to imply anything one way or another.

I don't trust polygraphs. I don't feel that they are reliable. If I was a suspect in the disappearance of someone, I wouldn't take one.

  • #610
I agree with all of you. I just think Susan never made it to the store. Nothing else makes sense. When your family gives up on you, and LE just barely bothers, it goes to page 3 or 4 pretty fast! This case and Karen Swift's have stayed in my mind.

BBM:

I trust them as an investigative tool. Everyone has an opinion of them, though.
Neither is right or wrong, IMO.

I don't want to debate polygraphs..................I want to know where Susan is.

Susan raised a son and was a wife for 35 years. Then she took over caring for her sick mother. I have to admire her son for having helped take care of his grandmother until Susan took over. My heart goes out to her son with a small baby and wife. There is only just so much he can do.

I wish Susan was free to enjoy her retirement and to just be Susan now. Instead, she is gone. There wasn't even one candlelight vigil for her.

In the beginning of this case, I had hope that Susan was still alive, maybe just taking a breather from some issues she was having. Now I don't. Too much time has passed by. Nothing is being done, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance screams foul play, not voluntarily missing. Someone disappeared her and for some reason. I just don't think she's with us anymore and until/unless they find a body, we may never know what happened to Susan. IMO

I think the husband said himself, in a video interview, that he was a POI, last spring?

Do you mean this article?

http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2013...or-information-about-missing-roseville-woman/

Snipped because it's a short article....

“They’re looking at everything I’m sure,” Chris said. “Like usual, I’m at the top of everyone’s list."

The article also mentions that nobody has been ruled out as a suspect in her disappearing, including Susan's husband.

Does that mean that Susan's husband can be treated as a POI here on WS? We can go much further in speculating if he's a POI.

I was quoting what Susan's husband said in the article.

Yes I know. I was asking a question. I'll alert my post and see if a mod can help.
