FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An 86-year-old Fresno man remains missing days after the dog he was walking returned home without him.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, 86-year-old Ulysses Carr was last seen around 8:00 a.m. on Friday near the 3500 block of West Muscat Ave. in Fresno. His dog returned home the next morning at around 11:00 a.m. but there was no sign of Ulysses. Officials say he was been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Search and Rescue team with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for Ulysses Carr, including all local hospitals. Investigators add that there is a chance somebody gave him a ride and did not realize he was a missing person.

Deputies describe Ulysses as a Black man, 5'6" tall, 160 lbs. with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray "Croc" shoes. Anyone who recalls seeing someone resembling Ulysses, or knows where he is, is asked to provide details to the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center by calling (559) 600-3111.

Presumably like most dog walkers, Mr. Carr had a typical route - hopefully the authorities can check people's doorbell cameras.

A total of 95 people are actively searching Saturday for 86-year-old Ulysses Carr, who has been missing since Nov. 25 after going for a walk in southwest Fresno, Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Tony Botti said Saturday afternoon.

Neighboring counties sent additional resources for the expanded search efforts, which started at 9 a.m. The resources include more search and rescue members and dogs.

Searchers continued their work amid an ongoing storm that by Saturday morning had brought 0.54 inches of rain in the past 12 hours to the Fresno area. Rain is expected to continue to fall into Monday.

As of Saturday afternoon, about five hours after the search began, there was still no update on Carr’s whereabouts, according to Botti.

Saturday marks the ninth day of efforts by personnel from sheriff’s offices in Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare and Kern counties. Teams had searched 20 square miles, according to a late Friday update from Botti.

The search is still on-going 24-hrs per day with SAR teams from throughout the state. I'm impressed with how thorough the Fresno County Sheriff's Office has been.

"It's important for people who even live 10-15 miles away from here to check their properties," Lt. Kathy Curtis says. "Check their video surveillance systems, just in case he happened to have gone by." [Snip]...check their outbuildings and even old cars you might have on your property.

Luis Torres. He was 80. But not our guy.
The article says it doesn't appear to be Mr. Carr. Maybe the clothing doesn't match.

Deputies say the man does not appear to be Ulysses Carr, the 86-year-old missing man who went missing the day after Thanksgiving.
Ty for the updates. Mr. Carr's family must have been relieved to know these aren't his remains. I hope they find him soon.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who love Mr. Torres. May he rest in peace. :(

He is still missing. Sadly, his wife died 2 weeks after he went missing.

FRESNO, Calif (KSEE/KGPE) – The family for 86 year old Ulysses Carr is holding onto hope after he was last seen more than 30 days ago.

It has been 33 days of heartbreak for the Carr family. Just two weeks after Carr’s disappearance his wife of more than 60 years Lucy Carr died. Eric Carr’s son Ulysses says there wasn’t just one empty seat at Christmas dinner but two this year.

“She just wanted to give up and I’d break down and I told her I would bring my father home for her,” Carr continued, “Coming into this year I was fortunate to have my mother and father unfortunately within two weeks I lost them both.”
