I don't want to junk up Native's thread but this issue goes to what we are going to be writing our letters to the newspapers about......

Back in July, the 21st I believe it was Mari Gilbert gave an interview (the link to it is posted on this website in one of the threads.....I forget which) that the ME had not released her daughter's body to her. It made it sound like she wanted Shannan's body but the ME was holding on it it. Now I'm hearing that they are only hanging on to it until the family can find another ME to release it to.

Do we know what the issue is was to why another ME hasn't been found??? Because in that interview it was more that the ME was purposely NOT releasing it rather than it was because of the family. If there were the case, then it should be on the list of issues we write to news media about.

Can I have some clarification on the status of this issue???

Yeah I was under the impression that ME was refusing to release the body. I might rethink this if this turns out to be untrue. I thought this girl's family was trying to have a funeral for the girl and they were unable to because the ME would not realease the body. If this is not the case well....:banghead:

Thank you for getting where I was going with this. I, like you would have to rethink some things if this isn't true. I thought they wanted the body to give it to another ME but the current ME was refusing to release it, and then they wanted to put her to rest finally. If not........:waitasec:

Nope. I asked that specific question of her to get an understanding because only she, her lawyer and her family would know why. If we went on the assumption that it was being held for any other reason, it could have potentially caused a problem. They do want to give the body to an independent ME, but lack of funds has been the problem. A wonderful member directed me to a potential resource (thank you!), and I have forwarded it on to her.

We need to go on facts to get to the truth.

I haven't yet decided who I'll be writing to. I may go off the grid and get somewhat unique with my choice. We shall see. I haven't looked into it yet, but in regards to the FOIL requests that are being talked about, Seaslug does have a few good points. If the release of information or a body somehow jeopardizes an active investigation, then that's all they need to say to keep things away from curious parties.

I was planning on writing a nice letter to Rolling Stone believe it or not. They love stories like this. Anything a bit offbeat is right up their alley. The would have had a field day with the whole LISK thing. But I am fine withdrawing from doing so. While I definitely didn't mind taking the time to help the cause, I do feel like this whole case is yesterdays news. It's sad to say, but hardly anyone cares anymore. Sometimes reading these boards is like watching the same episode over and over again of a once great TV show that originally aired 5 years earlier. It never has the same appeal as the first couple times you view it, and you never get a different ending. It's just rehash after rehash. Just my opinion, however.

I respect and completely understand your concern. "Yesterday's news," "Hardly anyone cares anymore," is exactly the reason I, personally, will continue this campaign as well as the petition. As time passes and nothing is done, justice will never be attained. It's not just SG or MG, it's for ALL the victims who no longer have a voice. SG was the catalyst for SCPD's awareness that something sinister was going on along Ocean Parkway. When I read the statements from the SCPD that they "were searching for SG when they came across the remains of 4 women," it INFURIATES me. They were never looking for her alive or dead... until the *public* was aware of bodies along Ocean Parkway. They did nothing. The dog had to pee! Believe me, I feel frustrated, too. So I decided to DO something about it. Not just for SG or MG, but for all the victims and their families, including the nameless victims.

If it turns out MG is only after money, it will sadden me, but it won't stop me from helping SG's sisters, friends, extended family or the other victims'. There is a murderer out there free to live his life unlike his victims. If those victims were one of my family members and nothing was being done to find the murderer, I would be up the PD's behind until something was DONE. So, for that reason, I will continue this.

MG only after money? Why would anyone think that? With all the money good do wellers dished out say, for the bus attendent who was bullied, and other such causes, it seems there should be someone who could set up a fund for an independent ME. If it were set up, say through her lawyer then the money would be sure to go to the right place and if there is anything left over who would object to the families getting a little. I wouldn't. They deserve something. I only wish I had the means...I would pay for it out of my own pocket just for the sake of justice and truth!
