3 Toronto schools, library locked down due to report of man with gun - CityNews Toronto
"Three schools and a library in the city’s west end have been locked down, as police investigate a report of an 18-year-old former student with a gun.

Western Technical-Commercial School, Ursula Franklin School, The Student School, and Runnymede library — which are all near Bloor Street West and Runnymede Road — are locked down.

Ursula Franklin School is in the same building that houses Western Technical.

Runnymede Public School, Annette Public School, High Park Alternative Junior School, and Humberside Collegiate Institute are under a hold-and-secure.

Toronto police have been in the area of Western Technical since 10 a.m. Thursday."

“We can’t confirm whether it was a toy or not but it appeared to look like a handgun,” Sgt. Sal Granata told reporters outside the school Thursday afternoon. “This is not an active shooting investigation whatsoever.”

"Police said no gunshots were fired and no injuries have been reported.

“We’re clearing the school from top to bottom and at the moment there is a procedure in place and they are looking after that,” Granata said."

"Police said the male reported in the incident is described as approximately 18 years of age and is a former student.

A staging area has been set up for parents and guardians at Runnymede Pubic Library."
