It can't be both....RO & JO don't live in Parkhill.....I think maybe the reporter 'assumed' Parkhill...not sure...but either/or....

I find it interesting that Greg Head refers to police as 'technologically limited'. Surprising statement.

CALGARY — The former head office of Winter Petroleum Ltd. sits on the second floor of a Calgary strip mall: the office is now dark, the desks barren, the door locked.

This was apparently Alvin Liknes’ company. The property manager said she often saw Mr. Liknes around the building: he was a good man, she said, and the company always paid its rent on time.

The space was cleared out sometime around June 29 — on the same weekend Mr. Liknes disappeared from his home, along with his wife, Kathryn, and five-year-old grandson, Nathan O’Brien, according to the property manager.

Although Mr. Liknes was not listed as a director for Winter Petroleum, an employee told Calgary Metro that the oil and gas entrepreneur led Winter prior to its recent declaration of bankruptcy. A phone number listed under Winter Petroleum still cuts directly to Mr. Liknes’s voicemail.

Amber Alert: Missing Calgary man’s company went bankrupt weeks before disappearance

Detectives have interviewed former staffers of a freshly bankrupt gas exploration company founded and managed by missing Calgary man Alvin Liknes, Metro has learned.

Police have declined to delve into specifics on Liknes’ business dealings and how they pertain to their investigation into the mysterious triple abduction case involving the businessman, his wife and five-year-old grandson Nathan O’Brien.

But Marek Kozera — one of eight people who lost their job when Winter Petroleum Ltd. folded weeks ago — said he told investigators “everything” about his former boss and the company’s financial woes.

“I would like to help them as much as I can,” Kozera told Metro. “This is very unfortunate, looks like (a) tragic event.

“I really hope this has nothing to do with Winter.”

Little has been made public about the family’s past, but Kozera said the elder Liknes headed up the cash-strapped junior petroleum firm.

The company had its equipment seized by a rural Alberta county that it owed roughly $800,000 to in property taxes and late penalties, according to the company’s ex-chief operating officer.

Kozera said he and all of Winter’s employees officially resigned June 25.

About the WP bankruptcy.. I think it is a process, and not necessarily an immediate thing? I'm not sure how it all works.. also, wouldn't someone have to be responsible for updating any IC website as to the new status, and if so, who would that be, and how long would it take? Also, if the firm owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in back property taxes, how does that work for the city to come in and take equipment? How would the city know who actually owned the equipment, or if the equipment already had a lien against it?? I know firms who have owned a lot of money in back property taxes, and as far as I know, the normal procedure is for them to take back the 'property', and put the property up for sale. But.. in this case, were the property taxes owed for the... other places where they were to potentially do drilling, or for their leased office space? (that doesn't make sense?). I'm just confused about how a municipal government gets to come into a business and remove equipment to compensate for property tax arrears... can anyone enlighten me?

My previous post explains a bit of what your asking,, but in terms of the company reporting "situations", it wasn't a public company so it's reporting was private. As far as bankruptcy goes, it usually culminates after a set period of time that the company is deemed truly bankrupt, which in realistic timeline should be late October. However, read my previous post.

Yes, I'm sure it was posted in MSM that the company had gone bankrupt just prior to this tragic 'event'.

I know this was discussed previously, and simply attributed to clerical error.. but why not fix it then? It remains a curiosity because I'm sure it is easy enough to fix, and I'm sure by now they have been informed by numerous parties, numerous times, that it is incorrect... (if it is incorrect?)

Calgary has what 25 murders this year about the same as Chicago per week,, Chicago I can understand having update issues but Calgary?

For sure. You know in all walks of life, all industries there are always those that display "attention seeking behavior". Maybe whomever it was that was saying that was just claiming their 15 minutes of fame. You know how there's namedroppers, etc...I'm sure there are those who may do the same type of thing with stories. JMO

I just thought of a good way to explain what became of Winter Pet; Winter Pet was merely a storefront since 2007 when another entity bought out it's assets,, the secretary thru accountants got to keep their jobs but they were no more a position of power than a barista in a Starbux. Likely there was an agreement that it would cease to exist in June of 2014 (which would explain how AL knew when to sell his house in December). I could post a link but won't on the whom's and who's of who now own the assets but it isn't relevant only in such that the address for the numbered company was once in the building space of WinPet and the company there now is also part of the collective entity who is part of the numbered company.

2.5MMcf/d is equal to about 1,500 barrels of oil per day. The assets assumed in 2007 by the numbered entity are about 80 well sites. The royalties to Alberta off these well's would be about $10,000 per day, which makes that back tax of $800,000 trivial.

How this all relates to a murder is simple,,

it is the common theme throughout, no matter what side of the fence you post from.

DG burned evidence in his yard on July 1st - Canada Day. I'm sure of it. His neighbors witnessed him burning outside.

So. My basic theory is that he murdered and dumped them within a rural area known to him, possibly right after he left their house.

I think he drove away from the crime scene and away from his home. Likely in a north-westerly direction.

He may have already had the location of an abandon well in mind and planned, or maybe just an isolated area.

Dump, return home and burn his clothing etc. Burn the mats from his truck, whatever else he thought he may have to do.

2 flaws in my theory though - risk being seen driving, and it doesn't explain why he was up at 3 a.m. in the greenhouse
