it was an msm report where fc said he was trying to go clean and shot el as he was at wits ends collecting on her growing crime debts. which is odd as his final defense was that the gun went off when he grabbed his bag and it discharged when it hit the ground. the people he held at gunpoint after taking off dropped charges.

I have not come across that article yet. They must have had to work something out to keep them both out of more serious trouble.

if you were driving your ex around so he could find you money, why would you drive all the way from Kelowna to your parents in Calgary then continue to Okotoks to do this? besides, he said he was looking for money to collect on her crime debts. sketchy people but not the sketchiest we've discovered.

Yeah, that seems a little nuts, but I wonder if there's any substance abuse or drug abuse happening on his (or her) behalf? If so, that behavior is pretty normal for people who are addicted, have unpredictable or drifter type lifestyles (probably him, not her) and go where the action is or where there's money to be had.

ETA - just read Stan's post and he mentioned FC was trying to get clean, so sounds like there's some abuse maybe happening

LL, if your cork board project gets big and elaborate you must post a photo of it for the rest of us sleuthers to see, that would be so cool!!

A feast for 8?! Excellent job! I'm turkey-ed out, two days in a row and for leftovers for lunch tomorrow at work, call me stuffed! ;)

I will most definetly share something if I can ever get myself organized.

We are feeling the turkey here tonight... Very sleepy!

We are feeling the turkey here tonight!

every family has their traditions, but that's a weird one fer sure. do you sit in a circle and pass it around for everyone to feel, or do you all feel it at the same time? I'm sure there's always a few in your family that like to feel the turkey under a barefoot.

Bahahaaa! You so funny! Master Turkey came from a small organic farm where he roamed free and ate well. He was in loving hands today and I wore wool slippers while I cooked ;)

Yes Cherchri, please come visit and post more! :)

I've managed to stay out of the hardcore 'debates' somehow on here, I hope it stays that way as I think a lot of posters were scared off when things got too heated on here, which is really unfortunate as we're missing fresh perspectives, outlooks, ideas and theories. Hope you join us again soon.

It is unfortunate - I agree. People like me are forced to move on regardless of what our contributions have added and what we may yet to have contributed. Frankly, much as I am deeply attached to this case, I don't really have time for the black and white 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. It is simply a waste of valuable time.

2006 January 2, Alvin Liknes’ daughter, EAL shot by ex-common-law husband, 61 yo Fernando Chora in Okotoks, AB. Chora (represented by Calgary lawyer, Adriano Iovinelli) was acquitted of assault, but found guilty of fleeing the scene and 2 weapons charges and sentenced to 4 years with credit for time served. During the trial, Chora told the judge that he had provided EAL with a great deal of money because of a criminal lifestyle. FC said he still carried a gun because he had enemies who may want to hurt him. He said he left that lifestyle behind when he moved out of his Kamloops BC home with EAL and moved to Vulcan AB

the ignore feature does wonders.

besides, even if you were a dishwashers helper in a mcdonalds and you attended and reported on courtroom info, it's just as valid as anything. don't feel bumped off because someone says things like you're not valid or the statements you've made aren't valid because you haven't been properly validated,, I hope that made sense.

Maybe that reporter was bold enough to knock on the door of the Owner for the CCTV footage and ask exactly what was showing on it. I initially thought maybe he asked to see the footage, but I imagine LE would have taken it as evidence by that time. Not posted in the media...probably because the reporter didn't have the proof of it maybe?

I myself find it interesting that only one (1) photo was released. Why not the other one? And true...why wasn't the time information included in any press conferences or news articles? Good question.

Actually, we even talked about our kids and how they react to what mom does for a living. She had, the day prior, covered the murder of the woman stabbed by her younger paramour whilst trying to evict him. I think some individuals, being devoid of charm, fail to understand that others are engaging and trained to elicit what they need from an encounter - all the while maintaining and exchanging all social niceties SINCERELY! For the record.... This reporter reported from court and from the acreage during the search. She is an excellent reporter. She travels to crime scenes with a camera crew! She would not be boldly or otherwise be knocking on doors. Rather sent with a crew to report on an incident. She is a human being. Like you and me. She had opinions. Some of her opinions are coloured by what she knows. I am a former crime reporter and revealed that fact to her, telling her where I worked and when.... She approached me, incidentally. I look the part. I was the part for a huge chunk of my life. In this case, I sought only to share what I learned first hand. Evidently that is objectionable to one member and I will therefore no longer be sharing my opinions or first hand experiences here.

Here is another article regarding FC and EL and the incident. I have read a bunch of different ages for FC in different articles, so not sure which one is correct, if any, but he is certainly up there in age to be close or even older than AL. (This article, written Dec.5, 2012, has him at 67). From the sounds of *this* article, EL was still hanging with unsavory types.

http://www.westernwheel.com/article/20121205/WHE0801/312059979/-1/whe/shooting-trial-goes-viral-over-breast-implant-claims

.... Chora was arrested a year ago and has remained in prison while awaiting his trial. Court heard the 67-year-old has had five heart attacks, two kidney failures and was in a coma for five months over the past five years. ....

.... He denied being angry with Likness over a new boyfriend, who he believed to be a heroine dealer, and said the pair was not arguing prior to the gun going off. ....

.... Chora told the court despite telling police he snapped, he was not angry with Likness at the time of the shooting.

.... He said he still loved the woman because they had a child together, but said he did not want a romantic relationship with her. He had been trying to borrow money for Likness that day, he testified.

“I understood why she was mad,” Chora said. “It was a long day and I hadn’t come up with any money so I guess I was a loser.”

In the past Chora said he had provided Likness with a great deal of money because of a criminal lifestyle. He testified he left that lifestyle behind when he moved out of his Kamloops home with Likness and moved to Vulcan. ....

Hi Cherchri...I believe we are talking about two different subjects here. I was talking about some CCTV footage gotten from the house under construction down the block from the Liknes. Not about the issue at the courthouse.

Some people just seem to choose paths that are not in their best interest. It's very hard to get out of them once in. I hope she's made some changes since then, she's a beautiful girl and obviously is a mother that is hopefully setting a better example for her child as it grows up. FC sounds like he's lived a hard live and is definitely paying for it with his health. I thought that he was charged with committing a b&e on an elderly couple he had worked with along with some weapons charges after this shooting.

....so obviously he had not left "that" lifestyle behind after he and EL broke off their relationship.

I couldn't get stan laurel's pic to post either, so I reblew it up and circled area.

Sorry if this was already said but isn't this the side of the garage door that had a oval stain on it near the top? I will try to find a pic but it has always looked to me like someone's bloody head was leaned or propped up against the door.

Personally, I find your first hand experiences of great value to the subject. We learned sooooooo much from your efforts.

How about we go together in December and then I can play lightening rod?

My apologies I actually quoted the wrong post! The post you were commenting on is what I should have responded to and the ensuing posts on the same topic.

I guess it kind of puts it down to "attention seeking behaviour", or you know the people, the ones that have to let everyone know they are a bit special and use their position to impress others. Who knows what that girl was thinking...kind of a professional 'blooper' I guess.

Not at all. A friendly discussion between two human beings and off the record. Anything shared here is hearsay unless linked to a formal report.

Glad you cleared that up. Was under the impression from another post that the lady was running around willy-nilly spewing information all over. Had no idea she was talking directly to you in a private conversation. Sometimes there's some ad-libbing going on in some posts. My fault for not digging deeper to follow the comments backwards to understand the situation clearly and adding my thoughts on an erroneous representation of facts.
