I'm beginning to think that he did a lot of reconnaissance before he made his final move. Give me the creeps in a very big way.

No doubt about it! IMO

Constable Clark should have some interesting information/evidence to share regarding Garland's internet activity and digital media.

I'm almost scared to find out...even though we already have a good idea of what it is....

We've been told that Garland was smart and very thorough with work that he did. As such, it doesn't surprise me that everything was planned out very well and researched. I'm sure that he had every little detail worked out. It seems as though his biggest mistake was probably using the green truck which was easily identified.

I mentioned a couple of days ago I was sure he did a few recce's (still don't know how to spell that). When we are told of his obsessive research those trips and regular surveillance of the residence seem to be a given IMO. Super creepy but very likely. This damaged ego would not want to fail when exacting revenge. (But did! He's not as intelligent or superior as he believes himself to be now is he!) I bet he is sitting there just seething. Imagine his internal rage now - just terrifies me.

After just having an estate sale, where they were actually selling things right out of the home and 200 people had gone through the place that day, why would this seem so unusual? :waitasec:

ETA: I get the idea that it disabled the phone but was that the first thought of LE as to why it was off?

Interesting that there is electronic evidence from the Liknes home.

Not sure that there is. I think they were trying to see if anyone's device had connected automatically to the wi fi. As would be the case for anyone who is familiar to the family, had connected to their wi fi in the past, and had entered the home that evening.

It appears that what they found was that the intruder likely turned off the wi fi to disable the phone.

MOO

If you have internet phone wouldn't you leave your Wi-Fi on all of the time though? If they woke up in the middle of the night with an emergency they would have to run down turn the Wi-Fi on before they could make a 911 call.

I'm not a tech guru but the digital forensic guys could and should be able to easily look at network/internet log files to potentially determine when the router was unplugged. It is my understanding that even when users are not actively using a wireless network there is data/activity going through the network.

True. My internet provider is able to see when we power down our router.

Good observation. I believe that "falling out" was in 2007 wasn't it?
