Murder charge upgraded in pregnant wife's slaying in Pickering, Ont.

A Pickering man now faces one count of first-degree murder for allegedly killing his newlywed wife and their unborn daughter.

Police have said investigators would explore the possibility of a second charge with the Crown.

But currently under Canadian law, a fetus is not considered a life until it breathes its first breath — something Goberdhan’s baby was days away from doing.

The baby was to be born in two weeks. Why would he do this.
Common Canada. Two weeks before this baby takes its first breath. This is so frustrating.

“A Pickering man convicted in the 2017 murder of his pregnant wife has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for 17 years.”

He’ll get the Bruce McArthur jail treatment soon enough. Over and over. The sentence isn’t enough. He could be out in 17 years.
