Abbotsford double homicide victims identified as senior couple
A married couple in their seventies has been identified as the victims of a double homicide in Abbotsford. Arnold De Jong was 77. Joanne De Jong was 76.

“They’re not known to police. They were an elderly couple in that area — and it’s a quiet area,” said Sgt. David Lee with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
He notes investigators are still gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses in the hopes of putting together a timeline of events.
Investigators say they released the victims’ identities in the hopes more witnesses or associates will come forward.“At this stage, it is uncertain if this was a random or targeted incident.”
“It’s definitely unusual,” Lee said. “We’re alive to the concerns of the community. It’s a very complex scene and we’re piecing together the leads right now. Hopefully, we’ll have some more answers into what is the motive and which suspects we’re looking for.”
