One year later, still few answers in Sherman double homicides - CityNews Toronto
"Apotex Inc., the pharmaceutical company which was founded by the 75-year-old Sherman, paid tribute to the couple on its website on the anniversary of their deaths."

From your link...BBM
“The investigative team slammed the police investigation into the couples deaths as “below standard,” a characterization that police chief Mark Saunders pushed back against, saying no one individual was privy to the “entire investigation.”

Just noticed this from Feb. 2018..

If Honey were attacked by the front door, a secondary crime scene, the realtor, the two clients, the house cleaner who let them in because the other realtor hadn’t arrived yet, then the other realtor....but nobody was alarmed by a pool of blood?

So much we don’t know, was any information disclosed by the unidentified senior police office factual? Warmington has never said if he had means to legitimize the identity of the person who called him. It’s also not clear why this secondary crime scene indicated a possible m/s as opposed to a violent attack. A person who was attacked near the front door indicates a strong possibility that a perp rang the doorbell and the victim unsuspectedly opened the door. With no forced entry.
Or they followed behind her as she opened the door to let herself in.

Warmington is no Woodward & Bernstein doing in-depth investigative reporting. He writes opinion columns.

LE said ‘targeted’. Were the Shermans being followed? If so, is the stalking behaviour continuing even after their deaths? Ie: Sherman landmarks, Sherman children.

Similar to the Robert Durst case. He kept returning to the lake home where it’s believed he killed his wife. He also obsessively followed his brother despite a restraining order.

IMO the big problem was the inflammatory headline the Toronto Sun chose to use for Warmington's column: "Murder-suicide suspected in deaths of Toronto billionaire and wife"

Other statements were also in the column, like: "Bott said homicide detectives will conduct a full investigation and all avenues will be explored."

The Daily Mail took it even further, publishing the murder-suicide scenario in a headline as though it was completely factual. They never published the source of the quote in the headline, the only source they cite in the article is the Toronto Sun.

Billionaire pharmaceutical magnate 'killed his wife, hung her body from railings next to their indoor pool then committed suicide in the basement of their $5.4million home before a realtor found their remains'.

When the family hit back with strong objections, Warmington and the Sun refused to admit responsibility for distorting police statements, and ever since have blamed an alleged police source, who apparently insisted Warmington publish this theory.

Essentially Warmington/the Sun has been saying, "I couldn't help myself, this important but forever anonymous person, made me do it. "

The one thing Warmington/the Sun will never do is admit he made an error in judgement, and it had massive negative consequences to the family. Because they know all the ins and outs of defamation lawsuits.

Wanted to raise $2.5 million......appears to have raised $0.

That sounds like a joke . Like something out of an Onion article. No one can really believe that people would help contribute money to a person who received millions and homes and cottages .

It really is comical

This must be a difficult day for the family and friends of the Shermans, wishing them well and hoping answers come for them soon.
In Memoriam: Honey and Barry Sherman - About York University
"In Memoriam: Honey and Barry Sherman

The entire York University community is deeply saddened at the passing of our dear friends and long-time supporters Honey and Barry Sherman.

DSC_4442-e1513613805102.jpg

“Honey and Barry were visionary philanthropists and community leaders” says Rhonda L. Lenton, President & Vice-Chancellor, York University. “We mourn the loss of these wonderful members of our community whose friendship, passion for education and philanthropy has had a transformational impact on our students, faculty and staff, and will be felt for many years to come.”

The impact of the Shermans’ community engagement and volunteerism has been far-reaching, benefiting countless organizations. For more than two decades, they actively supported some of York University’s most important initiatives. Honey served as a member of the York University Board of Governors since 2010 also serving on a variety of Board Committees.

Honey and Barry were Honorary Patrons of Impact, The Campaign for York University. Through their philanthropy, the University established the Sherman Health Science Research Centre, a state-of-the-art facility and home to York’s world-renowned vision research.

“Honey and Barry have left a legacy of kindness, generosity, and support that will be felt for decades to come. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their family during this most difficult time.”

I agree.

Also, these ‘go fund me’ type sites have been used to money-launder for crime. I think with KW talking to the media about his conspiracy to commit murder plot no one would want to pass money to him through those channels.

Question is: why the campaign at that point? Right after the murders?

Murder-suicide suspected in deaths of Toronto billionaire and wife

Here is what I believe happened. I strongly suspect police planted the theory/story with warmington to give the killers a false sense of security, and to buy themselves some time to investigate. I also strongly suspect that LE actually told the family to NOT to believe everything they read in the press. But even after getting that message, the family still hired Greenspan to refute the m/s theory, which was a problem for LE, because they wanted the m/s story out there to throw off the killers. Since then, the relationship between LE and the PI team has been strained, as I believe LE is upset with the actions of the family, Greenspan and the PI team to refute the story they planted. Moo

I agree, I think that’s very possible too. Except I’m not sure the relationship between LE and Greenspan/PI/the family is really as strained as it’s made to appear. The two sides sort of remind me of an offshoot of a trial. That of a attention-seeking defence attorney making all sorts of scandalous allegations toward his own witness, who calmly refutes his words.

Although the media gave far more press attention to Greenspan (scandal and controversy sell) than what PC Saunders said in defence of TPS, his response regarding their togetherness is interesting imo.

“....Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders was quick to defend his officers’ work, saying Greenspan did not have all the information detectives have uncovered to date.

“If you have an opinion on it, you’re entitled to that opinion,” Saunders said of Greenspan’s criticism. “We don’t deal with opinions, we deal with facts.”

The police chief added, however, that while rewards are not always effective, he supported the offer of one in this case. “Mr. Greenspan has the same objective as we do, to solve this double homicide,” Saunders said at a news conference held shortly after Greenspan’s announcement...”

I’m looking for a quote that I was thinking about and now I can’t find it. Does anyone remember reading in one of the recent media reports within the past couple days - something about the killer/s were up against not one but two seperate investigations (TPS and PI), the two different teams increased the likelihood of solving the case?

It remains the belief of the Sherman family that by working together, we will increase their chance of finding justice,” he said."

Warmington mentioned it as well:

One thing Honey and Barry Sherman’s killers may not have counted on is there would be two sets of homicide detectives trying to chase them down — Toronto Police Homicide Insp. Hank Idsinga and his team as well as former Toronto homicide detective Tom Klatt and his all-star team of former homicide cops.

Oh gosh, thank you both for finding what I couldn’t! I was beginning to wonder if it was only my imagination.

Why has a $10 million reward not resulted in a POI?

I think that amount would be a nice amount for most people.

Perhaps it is a lone wolf killer. It seems impossible to believe there is nothing on cameras anywhere. Even if the perp got into Honey’s car where it was parked somewhere not at their home, the perp had to leave the house.

What are the chances that the culprit(s) is/are on the hours of video (surveillance) footage the police are reviewing?
