IMO I think it was transfered for 0 dollars not only for privacy reasons. The Shermans would have had fantastic accountants.

Honey ran a not for profit too. In Canada that means zero taxes .

I'm really not sure which rebates they qualified for. I am personally terrible at doing my own taxes, and I do them myself as a business owner.Thought the links might provide information for someone looking into this.

My focus is still on the physical forensics and probability factors.

Did Honey have skin under her nails, additional injuries, drugs in her system etc. ?
Did Barry have wounds from Honey fighting him off?
If any of that evidence is present, I'll believe mudrer /suicide.
Double suicide by hanging of a rich couple has NEVER happened before. If so can someone please post this link. Cannot find one.
Reposting this link because it's packed full of statistics and worth the read . Has great links on the bottom of the paper.

The stress of building a home is hard, but a reason to murder your spouse? I find that hard to fathom.JMO

Honey ran a non profit?? Where did that information come from please??

BBM. Because it hasn't happened before does not mean it can't happen. How often has double murder of a rich couple by hanging happen? About as rarely, I would think.

You have to assume that something tragic and horrific happened to the parents in order to put desperation for criminal act above the obvious answer of marital conflict that resulted in murder suicide.

Police were thorough and the family is acting like a bunch or of spoiled brats because they don't like the police conclusion. Family have made such a big show of posturing, complaining to the mayor and hiring a questionable lawyer and his retiree since they were delivered the bad news. One is left sitting on the edge of the seat waiting for any scrap of information that supports double murder ... but alas, it's not to be had. I hope the family doesn't spend too much money encouraging their "investigative" team to concoct conspiracy theories.

The police are still working the case, so use of the past tense is incorrect. There has been no police statement except for COD, no conclusions whatsoever, so that is NOT what the family are objecting to. They have every RIGHT to hire a second autopsy and a lawyer and an investigator.

I think their 'complaint' that filtered to the mayor was that they were NOT notified of the deaths by the police but by media.

Otto, with all due respect, you do NOT know its not a double murder, the family is not concocting conspiracy theories and Im sure Lawyer Greenspan is NOT considered by anyone but you as a questionable lawyer. Please link anything Brian Greenspan has done that is remotely questionable.

I am their age and I cannot imagine buying a house, having it demolished and waiting maybe two years before it was ready to move into. And then going through all the dramas and law suits that they did with the existing house. You would think that people at that stage of life would not want to go there again.

In general, I agree with you. The extremely wealthy are not like us, in any way. If the contractor has the trades lined up, a house can be built within a year or less. With 6 months in Florida and a few vacations or a cottage rental, they wouldn't be concerned at all. Money is no object and others will do the annoying parts of any construction messes. Or, they'll be sued and know it.

I cant see BH spending 6 months in Florida away from his work. I also cant see someone as wealthy as them being inconvenienced as not having a home until the new one is completed.

Even if I were as rich as them and my partner wanted to do that, it would be a major bone of contention for me. Not just the physical work that others would do, you would still have to have input into it and BS did not seem like the kind of man who would take vacations for a year. He seems very much a creature of habit.

We don't know what his intentions were though for winding down. Just because he always enjoyed work doesn't mean he had no plan for an eventual or even imminent retirement of sorts. Did he or anyone else say anything about his future plans? I may have missed it.

Most people I know who have done new builds or total guts of their homes, have rented a home for a year. When money is no problem, one could take a longer lease on a home.....in case of delays and the likes. You can get both furnished and non furnished in TO.
I don't see it as a problem. You are correct, BS would need to be at work some of the time.....not a problem.

And I have done exactly that. But, I was twenty five years younger. I couldn't imagine doing that now.

It's possible that being the workaholic TypeA that BS was, he may not have EVER planned to wind down. Sometimes his type works until they can't, even into their 90's. The new home could have been her project. Sometimes men with money allow the wives to have new home projects just to keep them happy. Even with unlimited money people still become bored and look for new projects and activities. Could be this is HS motive for new home. She didn't need it, she wanted it.

Why rent, and have to move twice, when you have a perfectly nice mansion on Colony Road while you await the new home to be built. I think with all the money and considering their age, convenience would win out.

For some people, building a home is a small much about the build as the finished product. They enjoy the process. I have no interest in it, but lots of my friends love it.

They would not be exempt on the transfer. No accountant can do that, period. They would not meet the standards for an exemption. The legislation is straightforward.

If Honey ran a non-profit, that provides no tax advantages to her in personam. The non profit is a separate legal entity, incorporated as such. It doesn’t make her tax exempt or advantaged.

I am now renting waiting for my new house to be finished. I sold my old home which did have a working elevator among many other amenities that the new house does not have. It is called downsizing. If BS was a penny pincher he would be fine with that. The money you spend to keep a big house like that going is like throwing money down the drain. Trust me I know. My husband is 72 and he was so over the "big house" upkeep.

I whole heartedly disagree. Suicide or murder, are both tragic and horrific.

The family is not acting like a bunch of spoiled brats (quite an insensitive remark might I add), they made one public statement, asking for a thorough investigation. When the murder-suicide theory was leaked, a thorough investigation had not commenced.

They aren't asking for information that supports a double murder or a conspiracy theory, they hired a reputable (not questionable) team to do a parallel investigation, because they have the resources to do so. The two parties may very well come to the same conclusions, but they'd rather be a thorough as possible. IF this is suicide, there's a "why" factor that TPS are not obligated to provide. Their private team will be able to investigate that aspect further.

I sincerely hope you never have to lose a loved one in such a manner.

They have a condo in Toronto too that someone posted about

Wealthy people do not think the way we (ordinary folk) do. They weren't looking to downsize, they did loads of entertaining, had a large family etc. and held political fundraisers. They, IMO, were looking for an updated home with elevator and pool closer to living quarters, for their retirement years. Not many 75 year olds want a gym near their bedroom either but they were having one built near the bedrooms.

Obviously, they had planned a long and healthy retirement IMO
