Yes, I'd read that but it was ALSO reported in MSM that the loggers spotted the untied horse and KR caught and tied it up.

I find it telling that KR has repeatedly made statements about how "nervous" BT's horse was when he was discovered. KR trains hunting dogs, and seems like he has a fair understanding of animal behavior. It's said all the time... If horses could only talk. Horses are fantastic communicators in their own way, and have been proven to have impressive, accurate memories, for events, handlers and training cues taught even a decade prior.

snipped by me for focus

I agree. I am not at all convinced he is 'out there' at all. At least, I don't think he is where they are looking.
I agree 100%

Hi SweetAnna,
Some answers to some of your questions:
KR is the one who found BT's horse at 5:30 am Monday morning. It took him 20 minutes to calm the horse enough to catch it. He said the horse was very nervous and kept stepping on it's remaining rein (which is not the typical nature of this horse). After KR managed to catch the skittish horse, KR tied the horse to a tree. While KR attempted to locate the rider and notify local ranchers to attempt to figure out the owner, the members of the logging operation came upon the horse as well. Between 6:00am Monday and 12:30pm Monday, it was determined the horse had came from NR & was owned by BT. It was at this point on Monday that it became apparent BT was missing and authorities were notified.
All of the above information has been stated both by various MSM articles linked in this thread, as well as a family member. Since I am not linking the multiple MSM articles this came from on this post, and I do not wish to involve the family member, I'll state that this timeline is my own opinion.
So, what time was he last seen on Saturday evening?

The reason that I ask is that I read reports saying 11 pm, then I read this:

Ben Tyner was last seen on the afternoon of Jan. 26 at the Nicola Ranch where he had worked since November.
https://www.terracestandard.com/news/rcmp-to-provide-update-on-disappearance-of-merritt-cowboy/

So, this is confusing as all get. Did he go out Saturday night or not, and if he did go out, when was he last physically seen and by whom?

If he was out late the night before, then his horse is found at 5:30 am, what happened inbetween that time period? I would imagine if he got in late, he'd be a bit tired to be up, at the very least, 4:30 am- I have no idea how long it takes to saddle a horse and then ride the horse to wherever they thought he was, but does 4:30 am sound like a reasonable time for this? It would be dark then, too.

They assumed both Ben and his horse were given a ride by someone with a trailer, but so far, no one came forward. Where did LE get this from? Did someone on the ranch actually see Ben and his horse go off with someone that early in the morning? This information for some reason bothers me- where did this come from?

I understand that the horse wandering around probably indicated that Ben was riding the horse and that something happened to him while riding, but has LE looked at other possibilities that Ben wasn't actually riding his horse? Someone close to Ben that knew his horse would be someone I would be questioning for a bit, let me tell you. Something just isn't adding up.

Well, yes, Tolko shut down but there are still plenty of logging truck, companies and loggers in the area.
With the USA and taxes logging is drying up very quickly. Not to mention the Pine Beetle, but I’m not going to argue that.

Did you read the article I linked? It clearly has KR himself testifying in a court of law that he didn't track him.

JM was out hiking and came across him. "Mr. McCoy's discovery last April 16 ended a 10-day manhunt for Mr. Schoenborn," and this: "Mr. McCoy conceded Friday - the second day of the trial - that he had to convince Kim Robinson, a tracker and professional hunter who happened to be driving by, that the bedraggled man lying by a fence was Mr. Schoenborn."

Emphasis, he had to convince KR.

Neighbour testifies he recognized Schoenborn, ending manhunt

Were it summer time it would not be unusual at all. This time of year it would be highly unusual; it's still dark and how would he be seeing the maybe missing cows.

I'd still like to know how many are missing (NR would have a general idea, 3? 15?) and all that subsequent searching, has NR now got the missing cattle in to the homeranch?

Keep in mind, if ranches miss cattle and sometimes never find them it gives an idea as to why people can easily go missing without a trace.

The only questionable thing I see about KR's statement though--- he would have been out there in the dark and would have been able to see the horse, see the horse stepping on its rein, seeing how nervous the hours was and to catch the horse? Sun doesn't come up in the area until 7am(ish) (I checked) and I imagine there are no street lights there. Full moon was Jan 20-21 with lunar eclipse so no moonlight. And besides that what the heck time were these loggers out there? And which day?

Lets assume he did go out to find lost cattle, which is highly probable. He catches guys loading them into a truck, gets off his horse, those cattle are worth thousands, guess what, they will make sure he doesn’t nark and they will hide his body in the woods, simple explanation.

This also crossed my mind.
Maybe KR had big spotlight? truck lights? is that why the horse is nervous. were KR"s dogs making the horse nervous? Maybe BT horse only calm around people in cowboy hats? I've known cattle to be like that: see someone on a horse with a hat, no big deal. Someone on foot, or wearing a ball cap and they bolt!

I think they did report that BT would likely be wearing his wool cap so maybe the hat theory doesn't play in. I just meant though, the horse could be nervous for various reasons...nothing particularly suspicious about that as far as Im concerned. Why would KR even say that?

If its a logging camp, they work 7 days a week from what I remember.

There have been people caught poaching in the past, no doubt about it!

Very true, from Merritt to Kamloops, past the Ranch vast woods as far as the eye can see in each direction.

Ben Tyner’s family thanks community; pleads for information - Merritt Herald

The major crime unit is lending a hand to ensure nothing is missed in the investigation and to provide additional resources.

“The major crime unit will be assisting until such time Mr. Tyner is located or his body is located and determination of cause of death has been made,” Sgt. Janelle Shoihet wrote to the Herald.

“They will continue to interview witnesses, we may re-interview witnesses, and looking at other evidence, tips and information that comes in as the weeks go on,” said Merritt RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore.

We have done several subsequent small searches since then, and will continue to do so as the evidence shows up,” she said. “We can’t reveal all aspects of our investigation, but I do want to say that it is difficult for people in the community, they hear rumours, they hear theories and it is hard not to do that, but we are committed to updating the community if there is any major development in the case. So any rumours or theories that have been thrown out to this point are not true.”

“Our next step with the Tyner situation is just to re-examine where we have been, where we weren’t where the other possibilities may be and come up with a new action plan,” said Sgt. Norm Flemming “I suppose we can always hold out a measure of hope that he is injured but alive — I’d say the odds of that become a little longer every day.”
Replying to my own to to BBM
No matter where he is, it's obvious they are still investigating and following some leads. Alive (doubtful) or deceased (will find body and cause of death). I hope they are persistent in this and are able find this young cowboy and bring him home. Where are you Ben?

That's the thing- he was allegedly alone, no phone, and others mentioned things you normally take with you on a ride, he didn't have in his saddle? Again, I don't know a thing about riding, so please bare with me if I have this wrong.

Not to mention, he didn't tell anyone he was doing this? Wasn't this his day off?

This is driving me crazy. Poor man, I hope he didn't meet up with foul play. If he did, they are two weeks behind in investigating other options, unless LE has been doing that already quietly behind the scenes. I hope so.

I’m almost certain they are investigating behind the scenes.
