I'd like to know who fed the horses at NR on Sunday. If the
horses were all in paddocks and kept where the working horses
were, someone had to be responsible for feeding on Sunday.
Would they have noticed if Gunny was missing. Was Gunny
missing or still there on Sunday. I think Gunny was still there
til early, early Mon. morning. Shortly before being found,
say around 4-4:30am someone dropped Gunny off up
on the mountain and swatted her to run off from the trailer.

Also early on several msm reports claimed Ben was last seen
on Saturday night. We need more details on this.
My guess is some type of altercation happened Sat. night.
Was Ben at home on the ranch or out at a local bar or a private
get together?

I also question how some of the information one knew about
Ben's horse tack came to be. There were no photos, to my knowledge, taken when Ben's horse was found. So the fact that this poster 'knew' the type of bit that was on Gunny's bridle
when found makes me twitch a little.
I hope LE is watching this thread. Maybe someone needs to

That's only CTV News tho. I don't think they did any original coverage, their closest affiliate is in Vancouver.

As far as I can tell, there's only two original sources for all the MSM, that were actually in Merritt: the Merritt Herald and a Global TV news team from Kamloops .

Everybody else picked up the story from these two sources, and police press releases. They're rewritten to fit the space available and, IMO, sometimes get a bit garbled, as the writer is doing a rush job.

Probably so. Kind of a universal problem for msm to put out conflicting info.
Where I live, we have two large newspapers, they can cover the same story & I can come away with different conclusions from each.

posting AND watching this thread. One is checking the comments here but not posting ANYMORE..

Enelram, in my state, if a farm manager/employee brings a personal horse to his job, a manager has the perk of a paddock with run in shed, near his residence. If the person is a laborer, his horse is kept at the back with other horses owned by other farm hand or their family members. The manager tends to his own horse, which I think most of us would prefer.
Per the spade bit mentioned, the poster commenting on that watched a video or found pics of Ben & Gunny, with Gunny wearing a spade bit.
Iirc, the poster is a self-professed former ranch manager & offered some good info. Even on FB pics the tack Ben used is obvious. I’ve always admired how Ben was able to keep his saddle in pristine condition.

ETA: here, personal horse never pastured with farm owned horse. One reason is for the ease of vet/farrier services.

Agreed. I don't think anyone else cared for Gunny other than Ben. Probably why horse needed to go on a trip north in a trailer. If Ben was gone, and dog, cell phone AND horse were left behind. something would seem off from the very beginning.

You’re exactly right. I can bring the post over. Actually, I hope the OP has time to post more. His posts were very informative! I always like to hear from a working cowboy, not just a rancher, rather a cowboy that’s lived the life. Any of us can farm/ranch. But to ride the trail, live the life, is truly different.

Lots of informative posts on here from cowboys and horse people all over - CA and US, etc. Much appreciated as I, also a horse person, though not to the extent of some here, am still learning things that are helpful to this case and in general.

I think Ben’s animals were an extension of his family. Hope having them back in WY brings some comfort to the Tyner’s. Something tells me “Uncle Jack” has had a few conversations with Ben’s animals.

Of course ranches differ in operations.
All we can do is speculate based on what info we have & our experiences & qualify our posts as such.
For Ben’s housing info, one needs to go way back to the beginning of FB. I don’t think it can be linked.

No way we have all the facts on this case. LE doesn't release much and sleuthing only goes so far. But, IMO, WS was built for that. We all get to share our opinions, as long as we state them as such, and bounce them off each other...as in JMO, IMO, MOO

NR employees and showed an area on the map where the ranch horses were kept.
I don't believe they specified that the mgr.'s horse would be
kept elsewhere or separate. does anyone else remember this?
I recall that the housing and horse paddocks were a quite a way
north of the ranch buildings themselves, where the store/gift shop
are.
Maybe the poster was not familiar with the mgr.'s setup at the ranch but just knew general areas on the map. It's possible that unless someone worked at NR, they may not know this info.

There’s so many little known sites discussing this case, maps could have been brought from. Some have a lot of images posted.
Another thing, from my previously linked msm article, the owner has appx 1200 real estate holdings in Merritt. That is the figure in an old article. Now it could be much higher. Some ranch staff provided with housing might not actually live on NR, they could have housing elsewhere. Jmo, of course.

I think Tracy Dunsmore is a constable in RCMP. Here's an article from Merritt Herald quoting her from a case in 2017.

Trio arrested after assault and robbery outside Royal Bank branch - Merritt Herald

....were arrested by members of the Merritt RCMP shortly after the victim alerted police, explained RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore.

Possible you may be confusing her with TS, who is the office manger at NR?

Our truck was broken into probably 6 or 7 times, our community mailbox on our street was broken into at least 3 or 4 times. LE don't do much to people who steal, slap on wrist unlike the states. We added a ring system, next time hopefully they will be on camera.

Punishment is a funny thing, at times thecsentence seems too stiff, other times ridiculously low. Theft around farms is huge in my area.
NR theft was in 2017, iirc.
ETA: Ben was “targeted”. Incidents in the past involved people unaware Ben even existed, imo.

Two different females with the first name Tracy. One an office manager of NR, another an RCMP constable. If we get the two confused our theories certainly would reach way beyond far left field!
