Hey everyone!
New member but not new to this forum or this case! Decided it's time to stop being an anon and to contribute in any way I can.
I was a big fan of Mr. Sherman (Barry Sherman) before the sad news of his passing. Great entrepreneur and I personally take a lot of business lessons from him and apply them to my own businesses.
I had a few statements that I just wanted to make:
1) The bodies were not found exactly at the time of the supposed murders, right? They were found around 36 hours after when the house showing took place, right?
In that case, did no one from their immediate family or close co-workers find this odd that Barry didn't show up to work? That Barry or Honey didn't respond to emails or messages? They were found on Dec 15, 2017. That is a Friday. 36 hours prior was a Tuesday/Wednesday death. So it was during the regular week... they weren't on vacation. 36 hours go by and not one person calls/texts them, wonders where they are? No one finds it's suspicious? The CEO of Apotex doesn't respond to calls, emails, and doesn't show up for 3 days, and given his spectacular work ethic, this isn't considered odd? No welfare checks? HS was very outgoing. No one around her found it weird they didn't hear from her for 3 days?
Just seems super odd.
2) The suspect(s), was/were he(she)/they in the house BEFORE HS was home? After? Let's assume a hired hitmen, he knew the house so well that he had the confidence to wait in there for hours until BS came home? How could he have known the locations within the house without ever being at house? Without ever seeing the floorplans? Without ever being given information by someone that KNEW the house?
Now let's assume someone personal, close, friends, family, etc. BEFORE HS was home, it would mean somewhere was unlocked or was given access (key?) (no forced entry right?). If they showed AFTER HS, well, it's a friendly face ringing the doorbell, right? What's wrong with that? They get in, and you have your first scene right there.
3) Murder Suicide. This would seem like a possible scenario as well and I don't blame the TPS detectives for thinking such at first. Think about it, who's the friendly face? Who knows the house well? Who can go and come without suspicion? The autopsy was death by asphyxiation right? Strangulation, right? Again, odd way of a Murder Suicide with the positions of the body, but I can definitely see why this was initially the consensus among the detectives.
4) Let's assume Murder Suicide is out of the picture. We now have to think motives.
Business?
I personally don't think so. When's the last time you've heard of a pharmaceutical public company that's being sued/having their patents infringed hire a hitman to take out the opposing Owner/CEO? Maybe a 1% chance of that happening. I just don't see a case for this being a business matter. Now, I'm not talking side dealings, personal, etc... I'm talking strictly pharmaceutical (Apotex). But then again, the biggest "person of interest" if you were going down this would have to be Smith from Bayer... he was reported to have "hated Sherman. Sherman was like Adolf Hitler to him." He even conspired for his demise, although he denied it saying anything he might've said was a joke, the person(s) he wanted to carry out the acts said he was dead serious and desparate. So given his style, I can see how it would've caught up to him.
Personal?
Compared to business, a personal motive is much more plausible. However, I don't see a financial motive. I just don't... the kids were all well off... all of them. It's not Barry abandoned his kids and wrote his will to have his empire donated to charity upon his death. I just don't see a financial motive for killing your billionaire when not only are you part of the company, but you have enough money. Now, I'm not excluding family as having part in the deaths... I'm just not sold on the FINANCIAL motive from family being the reason for the deaths. I don't think Barry would've strangled JS if he didn't pay back $30m. After all, it's his Dad's money and JS is his son.
Sure, you can assume there's a chance that JS might've been involved given his $30m loan that was requested to be paid back, his greed for power, the fact that JK was fired after his Dad's death, the fact that Apotex was sold after BS death, etc. but I just can't see him executing this so perfectly, that there isn't even one concrete source of evidence that would link him even the slightest... Maybe he went on vacation to actually discuss his plan with a hitman? Sure, that's a scenario and would definitely leave very little to no traces at all with the only link being the person that carried it out. This would also explain why "the person who carried it out" is still out there even though there's a hefty reward for information. With a reward that big, someone if not someone if not someone if not someone would've known something about the individual(s). After all, that's how most hired hitmen get caught... someone else gives them up. But just maybe, just maybe they were/still being compensated greatly? But then... there wouldn't been a trace, no? There would've been an abnormal transaction that was unexplainable, no? Maybe it was done via crypto that no one knows the employer has? No one is aware of his accounts? Remember, there's a lot of ways in crypto to transfer great sums of money while being 100% anonymous, and I mean 100% anonymous.
So if it's not a financial motive from family, could it be a financial motive from outside family (not related to Apotex)? I would see this as more plausible than a family financial motive. But then the question becomes, who? why? Although plausible, I just don't see the case for a financial motive from outside family as well... why kill HS? Why in their home risking being seen by neighbours, cameras, etc.? Why not "lure" BS somewhere? It just doesn't make sense. UNLESS, this person was very close to the family. Someone that was in their house almost on a monthly basis. Someone that was invited regularly by the Shermans. Someone that had dinner with the Shermans at their house. Someone that had the schedules of HS and BS. Someone that wanted BOTH of them gone for their personal financial gain OR for personal financial REVENGE. Remember, the fact the bodies being in a similar position to the statues that were in the home, screams mockery, screams "I told you not to mess with me" to the family, screams "this is a sign" to either someone else in the family OR to someone very close to the family that had personal business dealings with BS. There's also a 1% chance that it was mimicked to get the detectives to focus on areas they shouldn't, but I find that unlikely. Again, we don't know many of the personal business dealings that BS and HS were involved in besides some info such as his top level info such as his role in the condo The One. Besides him being an early investor, we don't have anymore specific details. Remember, Mizrahi was just recently kicked out because of fraud... (call it what you will, but it's fraud on so many levels.. just wait). So if they found fraud now, who knows what sort of dealings were done in the beginning and who this might burnt... never ever think the unimaginable CAN'T happen in cases like this. This was an international HIT? NEVER! That would be a big mistake to dismiss and not even consider. The Chinese? The Iranians? The Jews? Lots of motives. But then the questions becomes, why HS and BS? Why not the developers? Sending a message? Seems odd you would send a message through an investor... His other personal business dealings, we don't know about, so it's hard to draw any conclusions on that end. What about Frank D'Angelo and his Beer company? Who was a partner of that Beer company? It was BS, wasn't it? Who became owner after creditors came after them, it was Jonathan Sherman, right? Now, who is the "close business partner" that Frank D'Angelo supposedly sexually assaulted the daughter of? Why was she meeting Frank D'Angelo to begin with? It was to talk about hiring her as a coordinator for the brewing company... The verdict was not guilty (in Frank D'Angelos favour) but the Judge said he believes he did it but there was no evidence to suggest beyond a reasonable doubt... (hence the not guilty verdict). Now.. was the "ex business associate" of Frank D'Angelo sending a message? Was there a cover up by BS and team? Why not Frank D'Angelo then? Maybe BS paid for the lawyers? Again, probably not likely this was the case that led to the murders... but again, it's a possibility.
Now, what about non-financial FAMILY motive? This is an interesting one and it seems to align with how the "murders" took place. Personal level knowledge of both HS and BS schedules. Knowledge of inside the home. Confidence to wait at the home for hours. No welfare checks for 36 hours post their supposed murders. There's just too many coincidences to cross out FAMILY as having a hand in this... I don't like this many coincidences in a case like this. It almost always scream foul play from within. Then the question remains, why? That's an answer someone that was involved in the day to day family activities would be able to answer. I guess you can kinda link financial and non-financial family motive together, but I can definitely see a non-financial motive from within the family. Hell, if I didn't hear from my Dad or Mom (and I had a great relationship with them) for 36 hours, not only would I rush to the home, I'd call someone to check up on them if I wasn't there. Unless, you "knew" why they went MIA for 36 hours... But how many children/family members were there? The funeral family stage sure looked packed... It's just so odd.
Now, for my "conspiracy" friends, I do have a scenario for you... Murder Suicide with a coverup from within family to preserve the Sherman name. I personally don't see this as being possible, but I would never rule it out in its entirety given the nature of the supposed "murders". I'll leave a 0.1% chance of this being the case.
I do apologize for this first post essay... but if you've read it to the end, you can see why I wrote this out (to spark some ideas). To summarize, the person(s) of interest knew the Shermans very well, knew they layout of their home very well, knew their schedules almost on a personal level, was very likely a face the Shermans knew (unless HS was NOT at the house first and the house was empty, then I can see you getting in without leaving signs of forced entry... in a house with no camera system...), wanted both HS and BS dead (not just one of them), and was very likely sending a message to the family (or a certain family member was sending a message to other family members...).
