Canada - CB, 3, may be in Monteregie, last seen 11am near Newman Blvd, LaSalle borough, Montreal QC, 14 Jun 2025

An article published in La Presse this morning provides a few more details about this case. CB had a little lunchbox with her when she was found, which could explain why she was able to survive on her own for 3 days. The farmer lady from St. Albert came forward shortly after the police published her description yesterday. The OPP were dispatched to her farm and she told them that she had seen CB and her mother around 11:15 on Sunday morning. They immediately launched a drone from the farm and it didn’t take long before they spotted the little girl.

It would be interesting to hear this lady’s side of the story.

thank you for this. Another case calling for a change to the Amber Alert system. I am so happy that CB has been found alive and well. I do hope though, that her living arrangments are thoroughly reviewed.

“We are so proud of the work that was done here,” said Dany Chaput, the on-site coordinator for the Association of Quebec Volunteers for Search and Rescue. “The number of passionate volunteers who came here over the last few days to help — we kept our hopes up, and what a relief.”
[snip]
“Now we exhale as one, knowing she is safe,” he said.

ETA Amen to that!

I saw she was located last night and was completely shocked. I am so happy that she is safe. I'm going to sit on my hands until the moms story comes out and what the heck drove her to leave the child and dog behind. I'm grateful for a happy ending to that poor little babies nightmare.

well, I'm certainly happy she didn't murder her child but I don't think she should ever have custody or unsupervised visits again
she's lucky CB didn't die or get picked up by a criminal
she's not trustworthy or responsible regardless of her mental illness IMO

also I want to know how the dog died ...
has anyone checked to see how far away the dog was located from the child? Is it possible the pup was left with CB on the side of the road in the ditch but the dog, as dogs will do, wandered away form CB and then ended up being hit by a car?

Could the dog have gotten to where it was found by itself if it was initially left with CB?

There is a map in this article.
The dog was found around Highway 30 in the Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC area, about 10 km from the fireworks store where the mother reported CB missing. CB was found in St-Albert, Ont.

No it’s quite a distance away.
So the 417 turns into Autoroute 40 once you cross into Quebec.
To get to the fireworks store you would then take the exit for Autoroute 30 which feeds into Autoroute 20 which runs beside the fireworks store.
My feeling is that the mother got rid of the dog right after she left CB and was heading to the fireworks store.
It’s about a 45-60 minute drive

“I’m waiting for mom, she told me to wait for her,” Radio-Canada, CBC’s French-language branch, reported CB telling police who found her. “Mom told me to wait,” the Journal de Montréal, a daily French-language newspaper reported the girl said.
CB said 'mom told me to wait' after Quebec toddler found at side of Ontario highway: report

Trying so hard to make logical sense out of this illogical series of actions RT engaged in.

Father's day:
1) She posted a rather unhinged angry video to tiktok holding her child

2) She took her child from their apartment and left her phone behind

3) She exited through a little used exit that doesn't have the same video surveillance as the ordinary entrance/exit

4) she drove to the St. Albert, Ont., area about 150 kilometres west of Montreal

5) apparently left CB and possibly the dog in a ditch alongside a busy highway and told her not to move/stay put?

6) travelled to St. Albert, Ont., about 150 kilometres west of Montreal

7) travelled to a fireworks shop in Coteau-du-Lac, Que looking disheveled and barefoot to report she had "lost" her child.

Thank goodness CB is okay. Harrowing ordeal for her. the fright? What must this sweet baby have been thinking? What was her mother thinking? was this some sort of hoax for attention? An attempt to "show" CB’s father a thing or two on Father's Day?

It was Father’s Day, not his birthday the day she went missing. The day before, I understand was mom’s birthday.

I’m not sure that it was.
It was the mother’s birthday the day before -Saturday June 14.
But I think that Father’s Day on the 15th -“Fete des pères” in french- somehow got misconstrued into the “father’s birthday” by some English media.

But it was the mother’s 34th birthday on the Saturday. Which begs the question did she not have any family and friends to celebrate her? Just stayed home alone with CB? No cake or presents or loved ones dropping by? This is very sad and telling if so.
Mom may not have had any support system

Ah yes, her bday was right there, I thought I had seen someone comment on a post that it was dads bday too, maybe people meant on fathers day.

I had previously posted a map of significant locations in this case but it was in French. Here is the English version of the map. It shows where CB was found as well as where the dog was found and other key locations.

It's been mentioned a few times that Rachel and CB were Anglophone Quebeckers.

I'm wondering whether Rachel might have taken CB across the border into Ontario due to the latter being Anglophone, making it easier for CB to communicate with anyone who might come across her? (I'm honestly not sure at what age Anglophone children in Québec start acquiring French.)

JMO.

Ecstatic about little CB, now if only some answers about the Nova Scotia siblings!

Perhaps. But if you go to Montreal, it is very bilingual. My experience has been that is hard to find someone who doesn’t speak English around that area so I’m not sure how strong that motivation would be.
It sounds to me that telling her to stay in a ditch, and checking to see that she was hidden, she didn’t want her communicating with anyone.

It was a very odd and complicated case, I think both the OPP and the QPP did the best they could with the tools and info available,

I would agree. I think about 99.9% of Montrealers speak and understand English. I have for years gone clothes shopping and night clubbing in Montreal. I have never met anyone who did not speak any English at all. Additionally, my family had a cottage in the area as well, mostly bilingual people there too.

So, I don’t believe placing CB in a ditch in Ontario had anything to do with language. The placement could have been such that it was an area close to her family though.

I feel like this was handled as beautifully as it could be. They had info, pursued info, found details and used tech. Fairly impressed as an outsider

Such a relief. I am still very curious to know what all went down and why but suspect that we won't get much more information and, even if we did, it probably would be nonsensical reasoning from Rachel
