The decedent wore a black nylon ski jacket with red and white stripes on the sleeve. Also found with the body was a gold wedding ring.

Circumstances of Discovery
On October 8, 1979, the unidentified male was involved in a fatal motor vehicle collision near Wildwood, Alberta, and his remains were burned beyond recognition. He is believed to have been a hitchhiker from Quebec, possibly named "John" or "Jean." There were no dental restorations present, and a few teeth had been extracted.

I seriously doubt it, Joseph was not married, he moved to Montreal from Morocco around 1974, he lived with us and after my parents divorced he lived w my father and grandmother in Westmount, he vanished almost immediately after the move. He, we have no connection to Alberta, his complexion was not dark, the basic size and age fits that’s all though.

Based on anecdotal stories from family and his old friends, a considerable amount of money, $12k, had been taken from a shared apartment or locker/safe etc..
For whatever reason, Joseph was accused of being involved and was maybe going to meet someone about it, I don’t know if he stole it or how much is true.
We used to get calls to identify remains at the morgue but it’s been a long while.
