AK AK - Tok, WhtMale 25-35, UP12375, one-eyed hitchhiker picked up in ID, Aug'79

Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned wondering if investigators looked through Oregon's worker's compensation records to see if somebody was reported to have missed an eye in a logging accident about the same time Jack would have lost his. I wonder about that as well. I also do have to wonder if a logging company would go through those measures to report it. Just some thoughts floating around in my head.
I was wondering that too. Reporting accidents was supposedly required at that time due to the OSHA act, so I'm sure a report should be floating around somewhere. I'm not sure how to acquire those files though.

I reached out to OSHA to see how far back their records actually go and I am waiting to hear back. If he lost his eye between 1962 and 1978 in a logging accident, I suspect those paper documents were never digitized and have been destroyed.

His remains were located approximately a year after his murder, but does anyone know when Bishop confessed to the crime and gave information in regards to UP? I am curious at what point the police were able to start their investigation with the leads he provided.

I think he has a good chance of getting his name back with forensic genealogy.
