This is despicable': Chief Saunders says after 2 girls shot at playground
“Some cowards came into this neighbourhood and opened fire into a playground,” said Saunders, who added that the children were not the intended targets."

Saunders said police are looking for at least one suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle.

No suspect description is currently available, but Saunders said witnesses are cooperating and police are obtaining security video from the area.

“We are going to do anything and everything we can to restore safety in this neighbourhood,” Saunders vowed.

“This is a cowardly act. …There’s no bravery here, in fact this is absolute stupidity.”

Saunders implored the shooter to turn himself in. “If not we will find you,” he said."

Ugggghhhh....still catching up, hope they found these dirtbags....
Eta:

I see there's been one arrest and searching for 2 more.

I think that the first thing gang members and young "thugs" should do is go somewhere abandoned and practice shooting at targets. If they don't want to stop the shootings, the least they could do is keep the damage between each other instead of injuring/killing innocent bystanders. MOO

'You are not going to terrorize this city'

"The mayor thanked the police for making the arrest, which he described as "huge progress" in the investigation. He said they now have to arrest the other two suspects.

"We got to get these people off the street and serve notice to everybody else who carries a gun and who would even think of doing such a thing. They're going to be rounded up and we're going to make sure that they are put away," he told reporters at city hall on Saturday.

"I sure think it's time for us to be very aggressive in rounding these people up who carry these guns around and brandish guns and use guns, and just saying: 'You are not going to terrorize this city, and you are not going to engage in this kind of anti-social, unacceptable behaviour."

Tory said he visited the area on Friday night and said this incident is not typical of that neighbourhood, but people do need to look out for each other, with the help of police.

The mayor said the remaining two suspects are entitled to their day in court but he urged them to surrender to police because their behaviour has been "reprehensible.""

"Connection between guns, gangs and drugs in GTA

The criminal justice system should "show no mercy to people who engage in this kind of behaviour," he added.

He said police have told him that there is a connection between guns, gangs and drug trafficking in the Greater Toronto Area.

On Friday, Ontario premier-designate Doug Ford also said after the shooting that those responsible will be caught."

Police believe 2 suspects in brazen playground shooting still in GTA - CityNews Toronto
"Toronto police are urging two men wanted in a brazen playground shooting earlier this month to turn themselves in.

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for both Tarrick Rhoden and T’Quan Robertson in the June 14 shooting that injured two sisters, aged five and nine, at a playground at Alton Towers Circle, near McCowan Road and McNicoll Avenue.

Both girls are now home and doing well after undergoing several surgeries to repair the damage done by the shooting.

Rhoden and Robertson, both from Toronto, are each wanted for a number of charges including attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent, and two counts of aggravated assault.

On Friday, Det.-Sgt. Jim Gotell said police believe the pair are still in the Toronto area and are likely being aided by friends and family.

“It’s fair to say that after the shooting people have spoken with both Rhoden and Robertson,” he said.

“We have been looking very hard for them and they know that we are looking very hard for them.”
