The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a theft investigation.
It is alleged:
- during the dates of Friday, November 19, 2021 to Wednesday, February 23, 2022 a man targeted victims using online social media chat groups and online dating platforms in the Toronto area
- the man met his victims in person, and would eventually attend the victim's residence
- the man would ask to use the victims' cellular device to make an alleged phone call, but would use the opportunity to send electronic money transfers from the victims' phones to himself
- the man also used the victims' credit cards to make point of sale purchases
- investigators believe the total cumulative loss to the victims is a combined total of $13,000.00
Jackson Luu, 20, of Toronto was arrested. He has been charged with:
1. Attempt Theft Under
2. eight counts of Theft Under
3. ten counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
4. eight counts of Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data
He was scheduled to appear at College Park Courts on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., room 507.
Investigators believe there may be more victims.
