For Immediate Release: 17-Aug-2022
MRU #: MP22R022-1
The Edmonton Police Service continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating a 64-year-old man who went missing last week.
It was reported to police that Hongsang (Howard) Rho left his residence in the area of 110 Street and 11 Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022. Investigators have also since confirmed that Rho was seen at 7:45 a.m. that morning on a walking trail near Twin Brooks Drive (see map below).
Confirmed sighting location
Rho is 5’6” tall, weighs approximately 143 lbs and has grey hair that reaches the base of his neck. Officers have since updated his clothing description to a faded, burgundy pull over hoodie, grey sweatpants, black slip-on shoes and wired-framed glasses with transition lenses.
Missing Person: Hongsang (Howard) Rho, 64
Rho has been struggling with his mental health and has potential signs of early onset dementia. His disappearance is out of character and, as such, family and police are concerned for his welfare.
Rho is known to enjoy walks in the green space and on the walking trails east of his residence and may have walked into the nearby ravine. Family, friends and police have been actively searching green spaces across the city but have been unable to locate him.
Anyone who has information about Rho’s whereabouts is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.

''It’s been an emotional and exhausting two weeks for Edmonton siblings desperate to find their missing father.
“It would be awesome if he just walked through the door and just came home and said something stupid like, ‘sorry I’m late,’” said Jonathan Rho. “But really that’s all we want for him — to come home; for him to be safe and sound.”
Jonathan is one three of siblings who have been searching for their father Hongsang (Howard) Rho, 64, who was last seen on Aug. 11 near the Twin Brooks ravine in southwest Edmonton.''
“Our biggest concern is that he was struggling with mental health lately so we’re not 100 per cent sure that he is thinking straight… what his mental mindset is,” said Jonathan. “He normally takes medication for high blood pressure and some thyroid issues that he didn’t take with him.”
''In addition to the ground search, the missing persons unit of the Edmonton Police Service has now taken over the investigation.
“They are kind (of) looking at things with a fine-tooth comb and going through things like his old phone records, banking statements, credit card history, internet presence just to see if there is any clue to where he might be or what he might’ve done leading up to this,” said Jonathan.''
''Howard Rho was last seen wearing a long sleeve burgundy sweater, grey sweatpants, black shoes and glasses with transition lenses. Anyone who may have seen him are asked to contact police.''
