The night before Lucas Fowler and his gf were found dead beside their van, Alandra saw the couple in a heated exchange with a bearded man in the middle of the Alaska Highway. She says couple seemed bothered and mystery man had walked towards them from his grey car.@9NewsAUS

The fact that the engine hood was down, the back window was broken, Fowler had no shoes, Deese had one shoe and the side doors were open, I do wonder if the man came back later at night and shot them. I wonder if they were sleeping when the back window was broken, they opened the side doors, and things went very wrong from there.

this is the same theory i proposed a couple of days back, its easy to reach this from the evidence we have, it could be 180 degrees different, hopefully for the sake of everyone in those families and to bring the killers to trial it will happen soon

I have no idea when this photo was taken, but I would not think that RCMP would have placed that tape over the smashed window, and then left it relatively unprotected, outside. It seems like, once impounded, it would be placed inside somewhere secure for extensive processing. And so now I am wondering if anyone can verify that the window was or was not smashed out before this trip even began??? The window may NOT have been smashed out by the murderer. JMO

That's where I'm going with it too, especially given the description of the man standing on the road and the appearance that there was some sort of an altercation. If he was there only to hurt them, the scene would be different.

Deese was 5 meters farther away from Fowler, so maybe Fowler tried to deal with the suspect while Deese ran 16 - 17 feet when she was shot. Maybe they were both running after they saw the gun. Hard to say.

BBM even have to be the "man", could have been someone passing by and saw an opportunity.

This is troubling that it's not secured in a covered area, this van is evidence.

normally they take them to a secure warehouse to process, very odd its out in the open like that

the window confirmed what a few people here thought about how this happened, how possible they were shot through the window while asleep possibly

Very concerning they didn't garage this vehicle. Mr. Fowler will likely not be pleased about this.
I agree. The taped window is lame for LE unless it was like that when the couple started out, which I highly doubt.

I don't see them spending the night there with the van partially in the roadway. JMO, if the killer left and came back with a gun, he did so shortly after their confrontation. The van was still flooded, so they jumped in the van to get away from him and end the hostile confrontation, hoping he would go away.

The first witness says Lucas knew what was wrong with the van and how to fix it. I don't think the killer gave them enough time to do that.

Not exactly local to the highway but I do know that around the Liard Hot Springs, it can be a busy area with tourists in the summer. Lots of big rigs on the road as well when I travelled the highway.

Here are links to webcams that are along the northern part of B.C. Highway 97, including the Liard Hwy Junction, Hwy 97 - Hwy 77 junction. There's a handy little map to show you exactly where the cam is. I think that they give an idea of how little traffic goes along this highway.

It's about 4:00p.m., Sunday afternoon, and pretty much all the roads are empty.

It also suggests that there might be a paved shoulder on the roadsides, with, or without painted road markings. So it's not clear to me that they were actually parked partly on the road. They may have been on the paved shoulder.

You can also replay the last 24 hrs and see when darkness falls and the new day begins.

not 100% with you on that, there was some other info from the same people who said they might be able to fix it until they could get parts to solve the problem, so its possible the quick fix didn't work and they needed a part who knows

they said it was a cylinder not firing and the engine flooding, i am not a mechanic but this seems like a seal or value issue

what i mean is, in my work i tell people yeah i should be able to fix this quickly if such and such works then two hours later i am like yeah no i need a part to fix this

More info on couple killed on Northern BC/Alaska Highway/Pictures of Ranch where Lucas worked and interview over phone with Ranch owner/more pictures of local area where blue van was found:

The above report indicate that there is an active drug pipeline on the highway and speculated that perhaps the murdered couple saw something that they should not have seen.

"Gordon" on the video said that there's an active drug trade. Who is Gordon?

maybe the window was taped for transport so nothing fell out. the van may be put inside and this pic was taken before it was put inside.
