does anyone think that for some reason (?) BS and KM had agreed that they would each commit a murder and due to circumstance, the first incident became a double murder, but that they each had possibly agreed to commit one? that would explain why there were two crime scenes and no further ones. I am without any hypothesis whether they initially thought that they could commit their crimes, go undetected and sometime return to BC, but the way they burned vehicles and computers makes me think that they did not have "return home" plans. I guess I am wondering if they dared each other or made a pact or something. there is something slightly methodical about them, even if what they did was senseless and sick.
This scenario would not surprise me at all, in fact, I think it is entirely plausible. I lean more towards this being a planned escapade of some sort (however loose) and also never believed they had any intention to return home (especially after the torching of the truck). It is so difficult to make any sense out of a completely senseless tragedy.

@Moriarty thank you for posting that link. I had no idea they investigated a third scene. So Kam and Bryer were camped just outside of Dease Lake for a number of days. Then possibly asked to move. I have to wonder how long they had set up camp at the spot where they torched the Dodge and Camper. Just seeing the image of that dutch oven set up (also not burned interestingly) tells me they must have been there for at least a couple nights, but who knows, maybe it was just Thursday night?

I didn’t know about that 3rd crime scene either. @SovereignSnake, I’m curious about the Dutch oven... can it be seen in this attachment?

....you mean, a cellphone at every scene? Or took videos of every scene with one phone? I think a cellphone left at each scene (so three phones) would be a little bit extravagant but at this point I can’t rule anything out anymore

Who knows.
Maybe one at C&L's site, one at LD's site, and a burner at K&B's site?

@Jan424 yes, it's the photo in the link under "July 19th: Friday - A body." The tripod made of sticks with the neon green rope and cooking tray. ~Very nicely constructed too if you ask me.

I may be wrong but I thought that tripod had a screen attached to it, which the investigators were using to screen the ashes with. I think there was a photo of that..... I will look

So I was going over this timeline of the days Kam and Bryer were actually camped in Dease Lake. I completely forgot Claudia Bunce said they stopped at the Jade Store in Jade City on Thursday the 18th for free coffee. I've tried finding an approximate time but I can't find one. Then they were spotted at the Super A store round 3:15 also on Thursday in Dease Lake. So if the Jade Store is a 1 hour and 40 minute drive North of Dease Lake does this mean Kam and Bryer were still traveling South to Dease Lake on Thursday the 18th? In other words did they stop at like noon for coffee on Thursday in Jade City then stop at the Super A later that afternoon shortly after 3, picking up food and maybe some supplies, then continued South out of town to where they would eventually leave the Dodge and Camper and Leonard? By the way, it was the mother of one of the cashiers at Super A who claims she saw them hitchhiking outside of town (Dease Lake.) I'm trying to get an understanding of where this "third scene" was located. My intuition told me it was outside of town heading South from Dease Lake but I guess it could have been North of town along the lake just as well. It doesn't make sense to me that they would be seen camped outside of Dease Lake for a few days, seen hitchhiking, then suddenly they're randomly two hours North in Jade City Thursday, then back down in Dease Lake later that afternoon, then 35 miles further South of Dease Lake that very same night. Like they were trolling up and down that stretch of Hwy 37. It just sounds so bizarre. Still, I do believe they were seen at the Jade Store. But if they were allegedly South of the Liard River the night of the 14th with Lucas and Chynna where were they the 15th, 16, 17th? I mean which is it? Were they camping outside Dease Lake for the few days leading up to what went down on the 19th or were they still traveling South from where ever they had been, stopped at the Jade Store on Thursday the 18th and then two hours later the Super A store, then finally stopped at the spot where the Dodge was burned Friday afternoon. Very strange. I guess this just sounds even more weird because I was under the impression they had been camped out at this "third scene" for a couple days, then had to move to the "final spot" for another couple days before they burned everything. Also, I'm assuming if mother indeed spotted them hitchhiking, it was in fairly close proximity to one of their camps. The question now is, was it near their original spot the "third scene" or the final "burn scene?"

Thank you! Wow I did see that but had no idea what it was. It’s almost hard to believe they put that thing together.

(Sorry I don’t know how to snip)

In my own opinion, woman who saw them hitchhiking didn’t seem like the most credible witness. I believe I saw a social media post she made, and it seemed a bit sensational and like a panicked reaction, mistaking someone else for Kam. She was dramatic about it in a way that made me think she was either mistaking them for someone else, or completely making the whole thing up.

Ive only been able to find one article stating they were hitchhiking, and nothing really specific about it.

Searching for answers: Sense of unease lingers in B.C.’s isolated north as police hunt suspects in remote killings

Somehow I have a shadow of doubt about the hitchhiking. Just an intuition. Could be wrong (maybe this long awaited report will address it).

What would compel them to do that anyway? To lure another victim? But why do that? Because they just HAD to kill someone else? Because the car broke down and they needed another? There are so many gaps and it’s hard for me to make sense of it.

The person who claimed to have seen them hitchhiking, thumbing in opposite directions, wasn’t identified. As for making sense, it’s not going to make sense. There’s no reason in the world to explain murdering innocent strangers.

“The two men were recognizable, as was their truck. Some residents of Dease Lake recalled them camping in a lot outside town, and RCMP searched there. Ms. Adams’s said her mother saw the men hitchhiking along the highway, each thumbing in a different direction.”

As mentioned, for some reason I also thought it’d been mentioned the investigators made the tripod to sift through the ashes but I’m unable to find the link.

and now for something completely different: I know that people found info about BS and KM playing RUST, but is it just a coincidence that there is actually a kids' game called "Death Road to Canada?"

Feature: Road Tripping With Death Road To Canada's Rocketcat Games

apparently there are a a lot of "road trip" video games... makes me go hmmm.

There is mention of that on thread 11, page 7 but no link.

@Grouper I totally agree! Also thank you for sharing that take about her post on social media. I hadn't heard that, but the more I got to looking, I could only find that one article as well. Not to mention, it really does sound like a sensationalized, cliche thing to report. "Burned pickup found on side of highway, body found, boys missing" suddenly their spotted hitchhiking. I think even for Kam and Bryer hitchhiking probably sounded too dangerous, not to mention incredibly risky, especially during the daytime? They just don't strike me as two people who would attempt it, nor want to attract that any unnecessary attention. (Even before all this began.) This sounds weird saying it, but I bet they were even afraid to hitchhike perhaps? It's possible but like you I also have a doubt. I mean given everything that happened after they stole Leonard's RAV, hitchhiking just didn't sound like their MO. I also don't think they were ever that desperate. Something about that encounter with Leonard, whatever it was, feels like it was more opportunistic and very wrong place at the right time.

Dr Dyck's sister has stated publicly on social media that her brother was murdered.

I do believe it was actually Prof. Dyck's cousin ..... do you happen to have a link to his sister's quote? I have not seen that before.

“We haven’t heard anything from the police… The way that he died — violently and murdered in cold blood — makes it very difficult to process any thoughts at this moment,” Friesen said."

I think the only way I could picture them hitchhiking was if something was wrong with their truck. But I'm not sure I believe the witness that they were hitchhiking.

100% this. For two people who were repeatedly described as anxious, paranoid, etc — you’d think the last thing they’d want to do is attract attention on the open roads. They seemed absolutely desperate to get to Gillam (I wonder if they planned that route all along), as far away from the eyes of the public as possible.

Like you said, I believe LD was a passerby, and was not actively sought out by K and B. They happened to cross paths, unfortunately.

I guess I have to MOO here.
