(This is all speculation/JMO)
Going with my previous post...like, imagine, Bryer's mom and grandma probably went there thinking "ok, we're finally going to get some answers!" Remember, so far they have no information about what actually links Kam and Bryer to the murders (especially Lucas and Chynna's murders)...they're basically being told "your kid killed three people because of reasons, really, take our word for it." Would you believe them at face value if it was your family member?
And then...they get to see 30 seconds of a video. And that probably made them really upset, to see their kid for the last time, who they loved, who according to them, they always knew as a kind, polite, non-violent person. And I'm sure the video raised all kinds of additional questions.
Of course they're going to ask for additional information. So they're probably asking tons of questions and getting all these evasive responses. "No, we can't show you or even tell you what was on the rest of the video. No, we can't tell you if they filmed other videos. No, we can't tell you what forensic evidence we have linking them to the murders. No, we can't tell you what we think their motive was, or if we think it was planned or not. No, we can't tell you whether we found any physical or digital evidence on their belongings that we took. No, we can't tell you where the guns came from. No we can't tell you how the victims were killed." Etc.
Can you imagine how absolutely infuriating that would be?! I know if it was me in that situation, I'd probably launch into a profanity-laced tirade and they'd have to forcibly kick me out!
So they come back home, more upset than ever, and discuss what to do with Bryer's great-uncle. And they decide the only thing they can do, literally the only leverage they have at this point, is leaking the information to the media, in the hopes that it will cause the public to put more pressure on the RCMP to release more information. And also, maybe as a middle finger to the RCMP. So that's what they do.
I'd do the same thing.
