you guys are arguing about semantics to a drug issue you don't even know the background to, what if he had a prescription through a registered psych then what? is it still abuse ? or playful recreation until you know those details its hard to attribute anything to this case and link it to ADD/ADHD drugs, plenty of other kids i knew growing up with the same condition as me experimented in this way, they ended up fine, two went to uni with me ended with masters

Again, not discounting the possibility, I suppose, but theres not really any good reason to think its probable in the slightest, IMO. Unless new info comes to light this line of speculation seems more akin to rumor than any sleuthing.

The C130 also has FLIR capability.

So they very well might be using both helicopters and airplanes.

Planes makes sense considering the vast search area.

Again, nobody argued there wasn't abuse potential with these drugs. They certainly appeared pretty calm, cool, and collected on the CCTV footage of them. Does that indicate that they are on some wild drug feuled bender? JMO

Because law enforcement is open to the idea that these two have fled the area, I’m not leaning towards suicide.

I do think this will culminate in one though, once the walls really close in.

there was a photo on twitter of a helicopter and it had the FLIR dome underneath the skids, looks like they needed some more comprehensive toys to get this done

there are various types of FLIR, drones and small aircraft carry a smaller version and it can't see as far, those helicopters and planes can do insane amounts of area at a time, it will speeds things up to help track them down if they are out there

My whole point was that in my opinion the entire impetus/motivation behind this spree is not rooted in abusing Ritalin (which we don't even KNOW for a fact that happened.) If someone took a picture of me in my bedroom wearing my pillowcase on my head, does that mean I spend all my free time handing out racist KKK literature?

It is. That aircraft can be used for searches, transport, and as a gunship (in war zones).

I think it’s being used for the search itself here.

Going along with that thought ... I know at our local beaches here there are restrooms that almost double as locker rooms. They have showers. I imagine they may have these types of amenities in Canada around lakes/camping areas that they could potentially utilize. I've never been to Canada though so I don't know for certain.

No one is denying the veracity of the article, as far as Ive seen. But the incident in question is one time, and as I recall it wasnt even recent (last summer I think, correct me if wrong)
What I meant by "throwaway comment" wasnt that I doubted it was true, just that theres really nothing about it thats indicative of a larger pattern of abuse. TBH the only part of that that seems totally strange for teen boys is the nazi paraphernalia
He was also briefly a carpenter, maybe this all goes back to woodworking related frustrations. Or maybe the lack of good info just has us grasping at straws and trying to rebuild a whole a narrative out of crumbs is basically impossible, so of course we seize on every detail. That I can def understand, caught myself leaping to conclusions often

if more info comes out might be worth revisiting but with the info we have pretty sure the ritalin is a dead end

I've wondered if this whole thing started with a mistake or accident. The only reason I can think of that they would destroy, what we believe is a perfectly good truck and camper and contents would be, a) a likely mistaken belief that they could collect insurance money to supplement their meagre resources but few vehicles driven by young drivers are covered by comprehensive insurance because of the cost), b) to hide evidence but it doesn't really sound like that's a concern because bodies have been left in the open to be found fairly quickly, unless they happened to have some sort of accident and they believed there would be evidence that would implicate them.

I've wondered why they would destroy their camper and truck in favor of a vehicle without a living quarters... There had to be a reason. It's been said possibly they rolled it and it was destroyed anyways, which might explain the large dent in the top of the truck, and so they needed the new vehicle.. They appeared completely uninjured in the surveillance video though. I thought maybe they wanted it to appear something happened to them so they could go off the grid for some reason. I said it before though, that making yourself into a missing person wouldn't be smart if you didn't want people looking for you or wanted to lay low. They had to know their burned out vehicle would send people looking for them. Maybe they wanted to put on this show.
