Good morning.
Ive just finished reading the Toronto Stars extensive coverage of this case and one thing jumped out at me. In spite of RWs long-standing reputation as a trusted, high-ranking officer, not one person of his acquaintance has been quoted as saying he might be innocent of these charges. More often than not in these situations someone is interviewed who says things like, No way. Ive known this guy for years and he couldnt have done this. They must have the wrong guy. The trial will surely exonerate him. Etc., etc. But no one has said anything like this. The closest theyve come is to ask how? - as in how could they have not known.
I believe that this indicates that LE has told at least some of these acquaintances (especially those in the military) that either RW has confessed, or that they have irrefutable evidence against him, or a combination of both. It will be interesting to see if his wife or other relatives will agree to be interviewed and what they may have to say.
