Hi everyone

Marie-France worked at 437 Sqn, RW worked in Wing Headquarters (4 doors down from my office). 437 Sqn is on the North Side and is across the road (Hwy 2) from HQ. The base is separated into the North and South side, with HQ being on the South Side.

She may have noted that he was a very nice man - and his persona was very much that. He seemed to really have a soft spot of NCO's and went out of his way to tell them how important they are. A lot of Wing Comd's are just too caught up in their work and fail to acknowledge this. RW wasn't one of those leaders. He was extremely personable, and winked back at me once when I said "hello Sir" at the HQ BBQ (we had them every Wednesday). I thought it was an odd thing to do considering his rank, but chalked it up to his personality. Everyone loved him. I SERIOUSLY doubt he was "eyeballing" her...there are just way too many people around him and in the Sqn for that to happen....he wasn't stupid and was always very professional in his uniform.

Just my personal observation........for what it's worth :)

Thank you for your post, for me it's worth a lot, so I appreciate the time you took to write this for us. I have a question, not being in the army, what does NCO stand for?

I thought it was strange that she said: "You 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬!" when she saw him. It makes me think that she knew it was him. I would have screamed and said something like omg or get the **** out, etc. You 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 makes me think she knew it was him. JMO

In the interrogation he said his face was covered, so from that I can only gather that she did not recognize him and likely called him that because he was hiding in her basement and wasn't supposed to be there as she lived alone.

NCO.. (non commission officer) someone of the ranks and not an officer... Marie France was a Mcpl. (Master Corporal) a NCO

You also have to remember french was her mother tongue and 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is used quite often is moments of anger

HE WAS WHISKED TO THE MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON, JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER BEING SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON WITH NO CHANCE OF PAROLE FOR 25 YEARS.
IT CAPPED ANOTHER DRAMATIC DAY IN COURT.
WILLIAMS GAVE A TEARFUL APOLOGY TO THE FAMILIES OF HIS MURDER VICTIMS -- SAYING HE WAS "DEEPLY ASHAMED" OF HIS ACTIONS.
BUT THE JUDGE, AND MANY SPECTATORS IN THE COURT, DIDN'T HOLD BACK THEIR EMOTIONS.RUSSELL WILLIAMS IS SETTLING INTO HIS NEW HOME TONIGHT -- A SMALL CELL AT KINGSTON PENITENTIARY.

NEWSWATCH'S MORGANNE CAMPBELL HAS MORE

"HE WON'T SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY SO AS LONG AS HE, I DON'T CARE WHAT KIND OF STIPULATION HE HAS ON HIM, AS LONG AS HE DIES IN JAIL I'M HAPPY."
A JUDGE SENTENCED WILLIAMS TO TWO CONCURRENT LIFE SENTENCES IN THE MURDER OF MARIE -FRANCE COMEAU AND JESSICA LLOYD.

THE SENTENCE CARRYS A MIMIMUM 25 YEARS BEHIND BARS.

THE 47 YEAR OLD WONT BE ABLE TO ELLIGABLE FOR PAROLE UNTIL HE IS 72.
IN A STATEMENT JUDGE ROBERT SCOTT SAID WILLIAMS WAS

" MARIE FRANCE COMEAU DID NOT HAVE TO DIE, JESSICA DID NOT HAVE TO DIE, MAY ALL OF YOU FIND THE PEACE THAT YOU DESPERATELY DESERVE. "

WILLIAMS BLEW HIS NOSE BEFORE STANDING IN THE COURTROOM TO ADDRESS THE JUDGE, HE SAID "I STAND BEFORE YOU INDESCRIBABLY ASHAMED, I KNOW THE CRIMES I HAVE COMMITTED HAVE TRAUMATIZED MANY PEOPLE."
CROWN ATTORNEY:
I DON'T KNOW WHAT HIS REMORSE LEVEL IS I DON'T THINK WE'LL EVER KNOW THAT FOR SURE."

I remember that he said his face was covered. The way she responded was like someone who was angry and not initially afraid. I think she was only wearing a shawl when she went into the basement to look for her cat. I have a strong suspicion that he did something previously like ask her too many personal questions or maybe she saw him in her neighbourhood.

I have to wonder why MF Comeau wrote about him in her diary (or other such personal writing). If Det. Smyth questioned RW about why she wrote about him, it must be because she actually did. His other questions to RW were all factual (e.g. tell me what happened in the bathroom, etc.) Why would she write about him? If RW used his voice initially when she saw him in her basement, she could have recognized it. JMO

I'm French and I don't know any other French person who uses this term when they are angry. French terms, yes, I just found this odd. French can be hotheads and passionate people for sure.

Does anyone know if the boyfriend MF was seeing was French? If he was, and if she thought the guy in her basement was her boyfriend, she would have addressed him in French. JMO

Okay. So, Williams clerk, his right hand woman, that did alot of his work for him at the Base, was interviewed on CBC Connects tonight.

SHE says that Marie France Comeau used to come into the office ALL THE TIME, because she wanted to get her rank increased.

Curious.

I watched that too.

I know Valerie. She was never "his" clerk. All CO's have their own admin assistant and they're civilians. She was an RMS Clerk and worked in the Orderly Room at 437 Sqn.

When he was Wing Commander, there is a Wing Exec Assistant, and it's a civilian. It was Julia McEwan.

I believe she meant that Marie used to come into the SOR (Squadron Orderly Room) to chat and try to push to see where her promotion was - not the CO's office. Believe me, you don't just show up and march into the CO's office..LOL

I think CBC may have twisted her story...or, she's embellishing her position.

I turned on CBC Connect and caught the end of the segment about MFC, they stated that she was fearful, that she had changed her lace see though curtains to thicker privacy curtains, she parked her car at the base at a closer location to the door....did anyone else watch this????

I thought the same thing you did, FF.

But I think RW's clerk said that's what she does now, since this happenened (or she was talking about a friend). I couldn't hear it properly either, and have to listen again.

But I do believe they were talking about the after effects of being paranoid since this dastardly criminal came to light.

A man after my own heart!! This is an awesome article! The only good thing about him being down in seg is that they can keep a closer eye on him, let him sit and rot rather than take the easy way out IYKWIM.

I heard an interview on CBC Connects tonight, and the journalist had been granted a tour of Kingston's Block H (solitary confinement), back in 2005, I think.

The things he described on there, make it sound like hell on earth.

The first thing he noticed was the stench. There were some inmates that haven't been outside in years.

There was plexiglass around where the guards stay. He asked why. Then, a bunch of brown things were suddenly thrown at the plexiglass. He said during the time he was there, that there were tonnes of brown things on the glass. Apparantly, the prisoners in the segregation units, store their fecal matter and fling it around.

Their cell is about the size of a car. Enough to pace about 3 paces, and only a little wider than spreading your arms apart.

The journalist said he would rather take the needle then spend his life rotting in a place like that.

Here is an article written back in 2005 after those journalists visited the Pen

A visit to hell in Bernardo Wing

"Know what?" I said to my guide. "I would rather take a needle in the arm than live like that."
"Just be thankful," said my guide, "that we no longer have capital punishment in this country."
