Start Rant...

Is anybody else here on these threads horrified by the news releases of late?

First point; the hockey coach who was sentenced and jailed then granted a pardon for sexual assaults involving children. Why would the media make a huge issue about this? Am I the only one who now thinks that anyone who has a record will obtain a pardon (not knowing before that is was even remotely possible) so that they are able to get a "police clearance" and once again get a job within the very demographic they target? It is bad enough that a daycare worker who has not yet been caught is able to supply a "vulnerable sector screening".

Second point; how is it beneficial for the media to let any potential "serial killer" know that if they just change up their MO, it makes it really difficult for LE to catch them and they might have a longer more successful run?

...End Rant

Sorry - long day.

You forgot one NFR - Clifford Olsen getting old age pension benefits while serving the remainder of his life behind bars. Also the media mentioning the other day, by changing your name legally, your crimes don't follow you unless you are charged with another crime ....

Canadian Forces Command and Staff Course offered by RMC remotely in Toronto, for someone whose home base would be much closer to RMC in Kingston? I am referring to the military's statement once the bio was removed from their website that RW was not at RMC in Kingston for that period.

I wonder where Walter Natynczyk took his course:

http://www.nationalpost.com/m/story.html?id=2692579&s=Today's Newspaper

That nationalpost link won't work for me for some reason.

We saw that bio very early after his arrest, and I am 99.9% sure the RMC Kingston reference was in it but was changed approx mid-February. Early February articles in the Toronto Star, Calgary-Herald, canada.com, cnews, Whig Standard, Sudbury Star, Ottawa Citizen, Star Phoenix, McLeans, etc etc -- showed his Master of Defence Studies at RMC KINGSTON.

Yes, RMC Kingston! Changed link to wiki for the general.

I read on another forum that there were two other unsolved crimes that occured around Trenton at the time of Kathleen MacVicar's homicide. One was a young woman who disappeared from her appartment and was later found in/around the trent severn waterway and the other was an exotic dancer who worked in a dance club across from the ford dealership in Trenton. I have been unable to find any information about these other homicides. Has anyone else heard of them???

I was doing some searches to try and find the cold cases in Trenton area and I came across this forum about the homicide of KM
Some of these comments made my hair stand on end.

This could have been done by someone in the military who is always on the move. Hoping that they do something to keep her memory alive and the matter can be solved.

For sure the person who has committed this crime has committed other crimes and may be anywhere doing the same types of crimes across Canada and the USA. If he was a military man, he could have been gone to another country the next day, maybe the crime will never be solved unless someone speaks out.

Everyone, if anyone, who flew out of Trenton on that airstrip the night of June 13 an hour, three hours, and up to 24 hours of when Kathleen was last seen, should be investigated, particularly if it was someone who left home the night Kathleen was missing and had a reason to drive through the Quinte-West area, as in leaving for duty or training. I'm not saying the killer must be military associated, but it is possible as much as anyone.

No kidding! I am not surprised however, after his failed "suicide" attempt, I guess he's decided he'll just starve himself to death instead - for a man that had such power in his career, he's certainly turned into a coward now. Guess he's very adamant about not being judged by his peers (though it really is too late for that, I'm sure many people have been judging him) and is now grasping at straws as a way out of a trial. I'm sure we will see more stories like this appearing about him. - that's JMO.

Thanks for this link. But I don't find the comments that hair-raising or particularly prophetic.

  • The fact that KM was found on CFB Trenton property leads to the logical conclusion that it likely was someone from that same base who committed the crime.

  • Most military personnel do travel extensively, so that's not a huge stretch either.

  • While RW did move around, he didn't necessarily leave the area immediately after committing his crimes. We know that right after both murders he was charged with, he remained right there in Tweed and Trenton, showing up for work mere hours after MFC's body was found and getting caught on his way home just a few days after JL went missing. Even after the sexual assaults, he was right there.

  • The speculation that other crimes have been committed by the same person is a good guess, but not an earth-shaking one, considering that no motive was found for the murder of KM.

ITA that RW will continue to make cowardly attempts at suicide. But will he succeed? If he persists with his hunger strike, surely at some point there will be medical intervention and he will be force-fed intravenously.

Yes there were two other homicides in Trenton involving young women. Jennifer Boczylo is one of the names, and Sara Martin is the other. You can read about them here. Originally it was suggested that they may have been unsolved, but from what I have found online it appears as though Kathleen's death is the only one outstanding. Still looking, will let you know if I find anything.

He has been stripped of his duties, but I imagine he will retain his rank until he is convicted. Thanks for the articles.

I heard on the radio here that the staff at the jail have nicknamed him Colonel Mustard.

Hmm, WS word seems to spread quickly. Summersolstice and Sillybilly came up with that five days ago.

I find it interesting that, as with the crimes with which he's been charged, RW didn't stray far from home when allegedly committing these break-ins. Was this out of over-confidence, lack of time, or something else entirely? Apparently he's never heard the expression "don't sh** where you eat".

police recovered more than 500 pairs of women's underwear.

OMG 500!

almost 50 lingerie break-ins

hard to believe that he could commit that many break ins and not be caught!!!

Tsk tsk ... ironic that he's now on a hunger strike ... guess he can't take the eating, etc in such close proximity :)

The alleged(?) attempted frame-up of his neighbour Larry J makes me think that it became quite a game to RW, and the closer the game, the more titillating the experience. I think he figured his status would preclude him from every being a suspect and that he was untouchable.

Status? ... now sporting baby dolls with a toilet paper roll in his mouth, penning memoirs in mustard upon a jail cell wall.

If the Colonel has confessed to all of his crimes, personally I could not care less if he starves or suffocates himself. As far as I am concerned, it would save us a tremendous amount of time and money in court proceedings, not to mention his life-long prison term. Not having to feed him anymore is a bonus on top of the savings we have when he is not around to collect any pensions. Good riddance!
