Lianne Elliott:
Det. Insp. Chris Nicholas told CBC News earlier that there's no sense of regret during the taped confession. "

"I've never seen any remorse from Russ Williams," he said. "Russ Williams entered that interview with complete denials at the start and with a confession at the end."

He notes Williams has written apology letters. "I believe they will be introduced as evidence today, and then, as I say, people can judge whether he's remorseful or not."

Williams admission that when confronted with the facts -- that police know he tortured and raped a number of women and killed others, that the Lloyd family were frantically searching for their missing daughter while not knowing she had been murdered -- that he was concerned that police were at that time "tearing apart my wife's brand new house" brought gasps from the crowd, who recoil at the monstrous misplacement of human empathy from a man they have already learned to loath.

Court has taken a short break.

When it reconvenes, we are about to hear Russell Williams admit his terrible crimes.

Greg McArthur -

I just hope that this live blog is doing justice to how riveting this interview is.

Everyone is hunched over, waiting for the colonel to own up to the horrific, vile crimes that have been described in great detail over the past two days.

Adding to the tension is the presence of the actual colonel himself, hunched over in the prisoner's box, eyes downcast.

What is going through his mind?

As soon as he discovered that fact, he abandoned that particular house. It was obviously one where he didn't do research or stalking.

This is why I cannot believe that he has not committed other crimes prior to his arrest. His only concern seems to be his wife. I think he has confessed only to what he believed they had caught him on and on what they had already told him they had told his wife.

I don't know if one of the footprints is JL's above, in the evidence photo, or not. There was mention in the blogs yesterday, that they had JL's footprint, and the one on the left does look smaller to me.

The CBC lists them both as RW's. The location of them indicates to me that they must have both been RW's.

So, if that is the case, then he wore at least 2 different types of boots, and therefore, was indeed there another time prior to the murder.

Wish we knew more. So many boots:

Sorry for quoting myself. I realize now that the watch location must be where he watched from. This would indicate that Foot wear A belongs to him. (notice how it goes into the bush) and that foot wear B also belongs to him because it is a solo track. I notice a blue arrow approaching the vehicle along the tree line, That's why I though the track include two people.

Deliberate attempt to evade detection? Wish we knew more.

This investigation will end up costing no less than $10 million dollars, easy. They will say no to nothing, detective says.

Now onto Williams' computers. Detective says nothing can be erased.

I put my best put forward for ya bud," detective says. "I really have. I don't know what else to do.
