Q: Let's get back to the issue... Does he want to be seen as a cold-blooded psychopath or someone who cares?
A: my only concern as to perception is for my wife... And the impact this will have on the Canadian Forces.
RW: I am concerned they are tearing apart my wife's brand new house.

Thank you, Wondergirl. I see this as a very important insight into RW's strategy. Let us be reminded that he was trained to become Canada's best fighter pilot; how to evade, avoid, out-maneuver, attack, destroy...
He ignores the issue in the detective's question, and plainly reveals that he doesn't care a flip for his victims or what anybody thinks:
A: my
only concern as to perception is for
my wife... And the impact this will have on the
Canadian Forces.
My interpretation: What is Mama gonna say!!! I'm gonna catch H--- for this.
By bringing in the Canadian Forces he is really saying, Don't you know WHO I am?? I'm the commander of the biggest base in Canada! Is this a veiled threat? A reminder of his power and an attempt to intimidate the detective?
The House:
RW: I am concerned
they are tearing apart my
wife's brand new house.
Even
before confessing he is calling it
his wife's house, and implying there will be consequences for tearing it apart.
We can see that RW has considered the consequences of his ever being caught, just as fighter pilots are taught to plan strategy and each tactic thereof to ensure 'the win' and his survival.
My hat is off to Detective Smyth for his professional work in this investigation and the manner in which he interrogated RW. For all his cunning and skill, RW lost this one - Big Time!
