Missing Person - Request for Public Assistance
2020-0709_attached@thumb.jpg

''Megan has not been in contact with family since September 16, 2020. It was reported that she was believed to have last been seen leaving a residence on Lloyd Crescent at approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 18, 2020. There are concerns for her safety as she may be in a vulnerable state and it is unusual for her not to be in contact with family for this length of time.

Megan is described as being 5'10" tall, approximately 180 lbs, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She has several tattoos, described as:
  • Half sleeve tattoo with a large owl from shoulder to elbow
  • Cross tattoo behind her ear
  • Rainbow coloured feather on her ankle
  • The names “Jake” and “Adam” beneath her arm
  • #13 on her hand
No clothing description is available at this time.

Anyone who may have information on Megan Gallagher’s location is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300.

(Occurrence Number: 20-101586)''

I went to high school with her, many years ago. She was always really nice. I hope they find her.

Megan still hasn't been found. Here is a post from the Saskatoon Search and Rescue on Facebook, but it is just a posting of the information from the Saskatoon Police:

Saskatoon Search and Rescue

There is also a post about Megan being missing from the Missing and Murdered Native Americans Facebook page, also with no update:

Missing and Murdered Native Americans

Thank you, @rainynights, for linking the Saskatoon Police Services post about Megan. It hasn't been updated either. I also checked Megan's Facebook page that you linked. I didn't see anything alarming being posted recently. Megan seemed like a really nice person. I hope she can be found quickly.

''Thanksgiving was tough for the family, Brian said. They’ve seen posters and have known other people who have gone missing, but until it’s someone like your daughter, it’s hard to explain the emotions you experience, he said.

“Your whole life changes in a heartbeat. Every breath you take, everything you see is about that person.”

This week, Saskatoon police said there were no updates regarding the case and they continue their attempts to locate Megan.

She is described as being 5′ 10″ tall, weighing 180 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.

She has several tattoos, including a half sleeve tattoo with a large owl from shoulder to elbow, a cross tattoo behind her ear, a rainbow-coloured feather on her ankle, the names “Jake” and “Adam” beneath her arm, and the number “13” on her hand.''

Suspicious missing person file now a homicide, Saskatoon police say
''The major crime section has been assisting with the suspicious missing persons file and has spoken to several people, according to a press release on Friday.

Police said there remain others who they wish to speak with.

Gallagher was observed on surveillance footage at a convenience store in the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive at around 6 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2020, according to the press release.''

“If you think it’s insignificant, you never know. It might be just the piece that they’re looking for.”
''Brian Gallagher described his daughter as a wonderful, caring and humble woman with a daughter who just turned three years old.''

I've not found any updates about Megan. Her family put up a billboard back in Dec. in hopes of generating tips. Hopefully they'll get answers soon.

Big time tip released today! Megan’s phone was used at 3:33 AM the day after her disappearance! It was man and woman who were asking for a taxi! Audio from the call has been released to the media in order to find out who the callers are. Full details are in this article:

Saskatoon police release call from Megan Gallagher’s phone as homicide investigation continues

I keep forgetting that this woman is my age and I feel bad I haven’t paid more attention to this case. I do hope, that even though this case is now being investigated as a homicide, that they WILL find her alive!

That's a long time after she went missing to release a tip like that!!

Why the delay? If RCMP are this slow with their investigations, I'm surprised anything ever gets solved.

I can’t pretend to know why this tip wasn’t released back in September but I know in the case of Amanda Berry, one of the three women held captive by Ariel Castro in Cleveland, the phone call Castro made to Amanda’s mom and sister using Amanda’s phone wasn’t made public until six-seven months after the call had been made!

Amanda disappeared April 21st, 2003, Castro made the call on April 28th, 2003 and the news didn’t report on it until at least November 2003!

Thanks for the new news!
Saskatoon police release call from Megan Gallagher’s phone as homicide investigation continues
''Saskatoon police are hopeful people will recognize the voices in an audio recording linked to the disappearance of Megan Gallagher.''

''Police say they have not found Megan’s cellphone.

Investigators are asking the people who made the call from Gallagher’s phone to come forward.

“We would like to know how they came into possession of that phone,” Obst said.

Megan’s father, Brian Gallagher, said he doesn’t recognize the voices in the recording. It was challenging to hear, he said, but the family has hope investigators are making progress.''

So a note about what I said about the phone call made by Ariel Castro to Amanda Berry’s mom a week after Amanda’s abduction. I made an error. According to an article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the police did publicize the call Castro made a month after, in May 2003. However, it wasn’t reported on the news until November 2003.

The location that they called to get picked up is within walking distance of where they were dropped off, and they used Megan’s phone to make the call. These are definitely not smart people. I’m sure the cops found this recording immediately and thought they would find the callers real quick.

The investigators wouldn’t have wanted the callers to know that their locations from that evening were known. The cops had a much better chance of catching the callers without releasing this audio, but it must have been harder to find the callers than they thought. OR perhaps the investigators have a pretty good idea of who the callers are, and they’re using the media to the advantage of the investigation. JMO

Family waits for answers year after Megan Gallagher's disappearance | Nipawin Journal
October 4, 2021
SBM
Police had been investigating her disappearance as a suspicious missing persons case, then said in January that they are investigating it as a homicide.

Police spokesman Joshua Grella said in an email that the investigation remains active and police continue to receive and follow up on tips. They believe there are people in the community with information pertinent to the investigation who have not come forward.

“If somebody has a piece of information, bring it forward. You have the power to help resolve a lot of pain for a lot of people,” Brian said. “Not bringing it forward just continues to perpetuate too many of the challenges we face.”

Saskatoon police ask anyone with information to call 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Her dad said he doesn’t recognize the voices on that call, so we know it wasn’t Megan.

This case is very frustrating to me because I believe there are people who know what happened but won’t come forward. I’m so sorry, Megan.

Saskatoon family’s pursuit to find Megan Gallagher never stops, sister to embark on 10-month walk
February 13, 2022
The 30-year-old was last seen in September 2020 in Saskatoon. Her sister Lindsey Bishop is embarking on a walk for hope across Canada to help raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in addition to hopefully bringing Meghan home.

The family has held numerous other rallies and walks to help start the conversation on those with missing family members and for them to share their stories for a semblance of healing.

Sask. police seek tips to help solve 140 long-term missing persons cases | CTV News
''Nearly two years ago, Brian Gallagher took a picture of his daughter, Megan, playing in the yard with her puppy.

“It was just a perfect day,” Gallagher recalls.

Now, the picture is used on posters and billboards under the word “missing.”

''Surveillance footage from a convenience store on Diefenbaker Drive shows the last time Megan was seen on Sept. 20, 2020''

''In an audio recording of the call, a man and woman can be heard ordering a taxi to Weldon Avenue. Police don’t believe the female voice is Megan’s.

“Sometimes the longer that something goes on, people tend to forget or it gets put on the back shelf. For us, that doesn't happen. It's an everyday thing. It's an every moment thing,” Gallagher said.

This week, police are shining a light on cases like Megan’s during Missing Persons Week — in hopes of bringing forward new leads.

There are about 140 people who have been reported missing long-term in Saskatchewan, according to RCMP.''
