Updates to this case: the lawyer was charged with first degree murder in May, is awaiting results of his bail hearing.

Kamloops sure has a lot of murders for such a small place. Gives me the creeps.

Jo-Anne Donovan and Shannon White are 2 more from the last 18 months.

I was going to post that l've followed cases where a lawyer has been a victim of murder, but I couldn't recall one being the accused...but then I remembered Alex Murdaugh.

Essentially: the lawyer that Mohd Abdullah trusted to protect his life savings, spent it all and then murdered Abdullah when he wanted it back...

The killer tried to dispose of the remains, but the ground was still frozen...

Somehow, Butch got through law school but I guess it'd been a few decades and he'd become a bit rusty...

Wow. Article says the victim and the accused conspired to hide $774K from the victim's wife while the couple was separating. Accused allegedly spent the money and then killed MA when MA tried to get the money back.

Somehow, Abdullah couldn't bring himself to turn on Bagabuyo and go to police, or even just another lawyer. Perhaps he was afraid he himself would be arrested. Perhaps he believed that if Bagabuyo was prosecuted, he'd never get the money back?

In a secret recording he made 5 months before being murdered he says "Then what, you want my life? Take it, man. I come to a point that I have had enough — I’ve had enough, Butch. Just release me, that’s all I want. Just release me".

He seemed to have felt trapped with no way out - seemingly predicting his own murder...?

This is an intriguing one.

I wonder where he got the idea/pressure to hide funds from his ex-wife? I see no evidence that it was coming from her end of things. In fact it appears they had a diplomatic relationship until the very end.

Could he have gotten this notion in his head from the accused? Is that a photo of the accused leaving the court room? Is Bagabuyo out on bail?

I will keep my eyes peeled as this trial continues.
