<<Chief Andrew Colomb insists people who know about the case, and what have happened to Nancy Dumas, but have yet to come forward, live there, too.

About Nancy: Nancy Dumas was known for the advice and stories with members of the Marcel Colomb First Nation in Manitoba. It wasn’t just her insight that made Nancy a prominent member of her community’s historic tapestry. She helped others stay strong when their people were fighting for a home. In the 80’s, the community began asking for their own First Nation within Lynn Lake, Manitoba, but they wanted to build it upon land outside the town. At first, the Marcel Colomb First Nation was one with the Mathias Colomb First Nation, but it subsequently split and lobbied the federal government to recognize the two as separate. Nancy Dumas was one of the trailblazers were determined to give their children a future home. Nancy Dumas was one of the elders of her tribe that fought for the rights to the tribal land that they occupied while living in a tent community – known as Tent Village because all members lived in tents. In 1999, 12 years after Nancy vanished, the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development recognized the Marcel Colomb First Nation as the 62nd First Nation in the province on behalf of the federal government. Chief Andrew Colomb has said that he believes Nancy Dumas was ‘one of the bravest women to stand up’.>>
