They were probably somewhere in this area (rectangle), possibly staying at a cabin owned by a friend. Many Albertans have cabins in the area for Summer and Winter sports. It's roughly 3 hours from the grandparent's acreage.

Thank you for clarifying. Can you map where they were found? (General location?)

The abductors crossed the provincial border, I wonder if that increases the severity of charges they may face.

These directions would be from Cochrane to Invermere, a town in The Columbia Valley. (think of this area like you would "Muskoka" in Ontario - lots of vacation properties, smaller & larger towns etc.)

A well-known fundraising site also has a page set up for the ‘O’ family—set up one day ago.

For the father, or is this another stunt by the mother?

For the mother’s side.

2nd ETA: The first donation was made 1 day ago. The story only broke in the MSM about 2 hours ago. The RCMP said they found them last night.

Pay their lawyers? They are a brash bunch! First they violate court orders, then they kidnap 2 children, next they destroy the privacy of two young children and now they want money?

40+ years ago, my ex and siblings were taken into *the underground by his aunt and grandmother to get them away from their mother. Mother (a diagnosed sociopath) was a drug dealer and was quite negligent of the kids. Also there were vile, predatory men in and out of the house. In this instance, the children were in grave danger. In fact, the police happened to be watching the house when Gmother and aunt came to take the children. Police confirmed they were there to take the children, and, gave them an escort out of town.

I don't know what to think in this case. I'm not getting the same vibe. I will say that if you think your child is being abused, you take them to a pediatrician. Especially if the father is not living in the home, and therefore not posing an immediate threat. Not like they were all living with a violent abuser.

*the underground had a name, I think, but I don't recall it. It is an organization that hides children who are in horrible circumstances. Maybe someone here has more knowledge.

edit: I see I'm a little late. The girls have been found! Awesome news!

Funny how that works..

I wonder whether the abductors will use the appeal as justification for hiding the children - claiming they expected the decision to be reversed and were sparing the children the trauma of bouncing from home to home.

Perhaps someone who was helping the abductors decided enough was enough after reading the appeal decision.

Those poor children - deprived of both parents for 5-6 weeks, now with strangers at Social Services? What a disaster.

Their father has his hands full, I hope he’s up for the task and I hope he has family/community ready to help him.
The custody battle probably won’t end and everyone involved needs long term therapy walking them through this, imo.
I’m so glad those little beauties are ok.

I agree, just because the children are found it’s not quite yet a fairy tale ending. It may be necessary for Social Services to place the two children in a loving and safe home and reintroduce their dad to their lives gradually, given who knows what was being told to the children over the past 5 weeks in addition to the existing parental alienation inflicted by their mother.

Ima run get my wallet, with all the suffering in the world I can’t bear the thought that some lawyers may have to use their credit to pay for their own kid’s private schools.

I thought she had lost a bid for a stay and that she was going to appeal it? Is it known that the family turned themselves in or were they reported?

Don't know. No information about the abductors, only info is that the children have been apprehended by Social Services.

We don't know whether they were discovered through RCMP investigation, or the abductors went to the RCMP station and turned over the children.

The mother lost the appeal, so the father now has sole custody.

This is the date of the appeal: 2021-04-12
Children were recovered: 2021-04-14
