Canada - Robert White for building dungeon in kidnap plot, Pickering, Ont, 2011

If there were water bottles in there I'm guessing that it was going to be used fairly soon.

I read this thread last night. I'm with you guys as I was reading and then came upon the "fire" I actually had fear in me and I don't live even close to the area. (in USA)

That fire was set by the person who built it, he heard the authorities found it and he went and torched it. I wouldn't doubt it a bit if someplace in that house there was more evidence that the authorities missed! MOO of course

Right. And the captor couldn't use a garden hose like another infamous dungeon builder - Jamelske. Still wondering what the locking mechanism consisted of (doors, multiple locks?), mentioned this infamous dungeon builder - Fritzl.

The room:

Water container supply - washing, cleaning, drinking? What else?

White paint - easier to clean with pure bleach? Would drive someone stark raving mad, being in there?

Chains - well, it's evident

Bench, painted white - easy to clean with bleach. Non-absorbent material, meaning no blood, bodily fluids.

Windows - very difficult to break, captor can see in, however.

Door(s) - How many?

Locking mechanisms - what were they?

I wonder - if there's 1 confinement room in 1 of those abandoned homes well...since it's discovery, surely they have searched the 100's of other expropriated homes in this entire area incase there's something simliar.

:waitasec:

I have considered the fresh paint is/was to cover previous activity in the room.

"“There have been three arsons in this tiny stretch of road in the last couple of years and all of them were scheduled for demolition,” Delaney said.

She said she’s surprised that a dungeon-like room was found, but likened the area to the film Alien, which had the line about no one being able to hear a scream in space.

“Out here, it’s the same thing because there are no neighbours because the government doesn’t allow tenancy.

“The questions are just dangling in the air, aren’t they?” Delaney said. “It’s suspicious on every level.”

also snipped...

Mary Delaney, with Land Over Landings, a group that wants to protect the land and buildings in the area, said the farmhouse was a heritage site.

Somehow, I would think of looking upwards in the area for treehouse type lookout spot because someone must be watching from somewhere..

Bolded the above. Yes, the questions are just dangling.

Just like those chains dangling from the ceiling, and who/what would be dangling from those chains?

I wonder the dates of the other fires...if they were after the date of discovering the confinement room....

found this fire on same road in March 2011, called in report of fire at 2am

http://www.durhamregion.com/news/article/985361--arson-blamed-for-pickering-fire

found the other fire on this same road...deemed as suspicious aug 15, 2010

http://www.durhamregion.com/news/article/1112577--flames-and-bulldozers-flatten-pickering-homes

OMG, yet another in the area of an abandoned home june 2010

http://www.durhamregion.com/news/ar...-on-pickering-airport-lands-destroyed-by-fire

....and another April 2009

http://www.durhamregion.com/news/article/1131319--no-cause-yet-on-pickering-farmhouse-fire

The March 20 2011 fire was at 350 Concession Road 7, Pickering - merely 1 km away from the discovered confinement room.

In this photo what is on the wall. To me it looks like a shower head at the end of a pipe and it is hung up on the wall, mounted with clamps.

At first it looked like (shaped like) a shower head to me as well. However, after thinking about it, I think it is a bolt on a door. JMO.

I don't get a bolt on the door...like a hinge, he used a shower head and pipe as a hinge? I'm not a DIY type person so I have no clue and cannot vision it. I need help. :floorlaugh:

OK I googled confinement room last night and almost every image I saw had the room painted white. It seems standard no matter what country. If it were a sex chamber, there would be more in there to suggest that I think, ground shackles, etc.

It looks like a common wheel wrench to me. :twocents:

White makes sense, can buy it off the shelve, no need to have clerk mix it to a specific colour that can be traced back.

so it does, a long one too. That has to be from an old model vehicle no? That wouldn't fit in most car trunks. I'm guessing a truck, semi even. Would this be something a lead they could follow...Oh right, the fire, maybe this is exactly why the fire happened. The water cans, the wheel wrench.

Thank you for identifying it..even though we are not 100% sure but I think he are right. Now to go back to google images to look at a semi truck wheel wrench.

It does at first look like a shower head from the curvature and the endpiece.

However, it's a flat-bar of metal, IMO, holding the door closed in a latch. And the curvature and endpiece are probably just stylistic. Either that, or it was fashioned/flattened out of some tire iron?
