I feel compelled however, to share, I was surprised to learn about the profound drug infestation in the area.

His direct employer had been holding special training sessions on fentanyl and other drugs in the area it would have to be a concern for a small area like that.

In general from what I have learned the other folks at the party have not been helpful in any meaningful way --

Often in tragedies like this many people will describe what the party was like etc -- it has been over a quarter of a year and to remain in the dark about how many people were there, when it started general tone of party etc etc etc - is somewhat concerning

This is not sprawling urban area basically looks like a house or two out in the middle of nowhere - an inability to know sequence of events in terms of departure of participants is somewhat befuddling.

The general notion I believe is that some unknown quantity of "friends" ( out in the middle of nowhere in what I assume is total silence) to lose someone in the middle of an empty open space is rather baffling.

i am not getting a sense , when below freezing at 2 in the morning that there are many people up and about in the streets adds to the oddity of the situation.

Just mo but seems really hard to "lose" a friend in the middle of nowhere.

From my understanding of it it was like he was departing right after them how can a group of friends "lose" another person in the middle of nowhere?

It would have to have been one huge party for there to be crowds in the street to lose someone no?

The general unwillingness , it appears, for participants to provide LE some detail IMO more likely indicates we might not be talking about some kids sharing some beer and chatting.

It is my understanding that they lived very close by which adds more peculiarity to the tragedy.

Does anyone know exactly (like miles) the party was from his residence.

It sounds like it was a clear night at the time of departure - is that correct ? That conjures up "silence". Buzzed folks are generally chatty (!) so losing him becomes more odd.

Walking in snow is noisy odder still.

Very small area -- the community would know about him vanishing quickly. In tragedy people talk. The media was there. One would think some info about the party itself would just be discovered by media by being there.

IMO this has more the feeling of being afraid to talk about anything at all. Kind of like of the Rhoden thing. If people are afraid to talk that has implications as well.

Then to have a possible gang sign involved the deafening silence becomes far more meaningful IMO.

They went to a rave before the party. My sense of a rave ( may be totally off here) is that it might be different than going for a cocktail somewhere.

I have never implied he was directly involved in anything but parties with some attendees possibly involved in gang activity could certainly mean that he got caught up in some horrible stuff just by being there

To then learn that this huge murderous gang is nearby is concerning.

To then learn that a huge bust occurred around 5 weeks earlier is concerning

To then discover that a violent home invasion occurred a couple of weeks before is also concerning.

To then discover some of the people involved in the above mentioned were in their early 20's is more concerning (peer stuff)

Gangs who have just been busted , jailed, while losing product tend be pretty pissed off

Who knows what might have transpired the poor kid might have not known anything about any of this and ended up a victim of the whole thing

At the same time , if one thinks about it what could be better than a ski lift for moving stuff -- the bar on the car has to be shut by staff - perfect transmission of goods -- pure speculation - again he might have nothing to do with anything but that is a perfect setting for quick dealing moo speculation only however

It was a group of coworkers -- if - unknown to him - coworkers were using the lift as a ways of moving stuff . Its perfect actually - slip money on one end - on the other end of the lift be given something. Visualize it. Speculation only tho

all just my notions and concerns

With all due respect, @CARIIS, I think you’re moving further and further into the realm of flights of fantasy, rather than reasoned speculation.

Nothing you are hypothesizing remotely ressembles what is known.

If Ryan's disappearance is weather related his body probably won't be discovered until mid July.
I did notice on Ryan's GO FUND ME PAGE that some funds are needed to pay for PI. I guess the family feels that this could be a foul play situation not a weather related situation.

I think I would look into getting a PI if I was a parent in this situation. Not to necessarily sleuth out anything nefarious but to try and find out who was at the party, were there vehicles being driven by people under the influence, could he have been heading to a place other than home...these are all things that people may try to cover up to LE for fear of other repercussions but may change the direction of searches etc.
I think the reason we have fewer details than we’d like is that the Canadian police and public generally are less likely to share and speculate with the media (...and perhaps the media less like to push all the angles). Most times I’m grateful for this, other times it can be exasperating...

A pause in the search for Ryan Shtuka

Snipped...
...When the snow finally did melt, KSAR returned to renew its search efforts. The receding snow revealed no new clues, however, and to date, there is no sign of Ryan.

...Searches for Ryan following the snow melt focused on the Burfield area and extended to trials and even up ski lifts. Articles of clothing, credit cards, cellphones and keys have been found, but none of the items have been connected to Ryan.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said police have no evidence to suggest Shtuka met with foul play when he went missing.

Heather believes her son likely succumbed to the elements and his body is somewhere in Sun Peaks.

I dont know if there were like massive snowfalls in the week after he went missing but it kinda would seem that if he passed from hypothermia he would be above ground for quite some time.

They had a LOT of folks up there looking. It feels like snow would be easier than say water to observe a person on the ground

i suppose under a lot of trees would make him hard to locate.

For some reason feels like foul play.

From the monthly statistics on weather.com for that week at Sun Peaks Resort, it looks like there was .16 inch precip the Saturday he went missing, which as snow is probably 3 inches or less? Then the following week there was almost no precip listed until another .1 inch Friday.

So, not much snow during that time, but if he wandered into the woods and fell in deeper snow, it does not take much snowfall to cover a body from sight. But then why now that the snow is gone has Ryan not been found? Are there many predatory animals active there in winter that could have scattered his remains without the searchers noticing?

The resort webcams showed no snow at the base of the mountain near where the village is, nor at the mountaintop on June 6, but it looks like they got a dusting or more of snow today on the mountaintop, while the village base still seems to be snow-free. The archived images I saw showed the base was snow-free at least 20-some days ago.

UGH this is not good

there is green grass (really cute little town) all over

so does that take us to a car

snowbirds whe4n you see the webcams -- realistically is the level of the snow now too high up for someone to walk up in the middle of the night

or are we talking being moved by bad people?

anyone know the actual address of the house party?

the rave?

it is biazire that not one person from party has spoken up (s far as I know)

Has the 130 text to his roommate ever been confirmed

in that notion they said he might have been around Fairways Drive area of Sun Peaks. ANyone know how far that is from the house party

Interactive map of trails around that area

Trail map Sun Peaks

guys good with the little yellow walking man on goggle might be able to find the actual house

wonder how far a walk from the house to the text describing the Fairways Drive mention

it says they close at 2 if the 130 text time is accurate is it within 30 walking minutes ?

have no idea if this is the actual one

The Stone & Wheel Pizzeria 17 Fairway Drive NW Edmonton

Video of sun peaks

After seeing makes some sense how friends might not know you were not behind them that is for sure

Curious no:

RCMP are asking the public to contact them at 250-314-1800 if they think they saw Shtuka after 2:50 a.m. on February 17.
