CANADA Canada - Ryan Shtuka, 20, Kamloops, BC, 17 Feb 2018

Ryan's disappearance is similar to Colin Gillis but at least in Colin's case there were witnesses who saw Colin after he left his house party however with Ryan he was there one minute and gone the next. So far Ryan's clothing, jacket, shoes and cap have not been found which is odd if this were some type of accident scenario considering the number of searches and people involved in the searches. It seems to me his body has been deliberately hidden from public view.

I wish someone from the house party would come forward and give more details about the party and about Ryan. Was Ryan intoxicated which might have lead to a bad decision that night such as leaving the party with someone he didn't know very well and maybe foul play resulted.

I hope Ryan's family is at least considering the idea that Ryan might have left the Sun Peak area and maybe tried walking to the next nearest town.

Prayers for Ryan's family.

I remain hung up a gang related something . No that he was in a gang but saw or knew something that the gang had to take care - hence nothing since that night

have felt that way along when I discovered how much gang activity was escalating in that area and cops were doing huge busts in that area related to gang stuff

Asked Art to look into this - Brainscratch!

Will you explore Ryan S- as possible gang disappearance

After first week or so while sleuthing I came across a lot of gang activity in the area!

We have a thread on WS but not much new!

I looked at the case of Colin Gillis, that's very sad.
It appears, as you say, he was last seen walking alone at night along a dark highway, going in the opposite direction from his home. His appearance alarmed a motorist because he wasn't wearing a jacket and he was waving his arms around.

In this case, just to create a picture of the scene, Sun Peaks is a purpose-built modern ski village, about 30 miles from the nearest town, and most of that distance is along the Sun Peaks access road. So, especially at that hour, it's really unlikely anyone would be driving through there or be there who wasn't employed in the village or on a ski vacation. Also relevant to the possibility of foul play, is that like all ski towns, staff can't afford to live on their own. Everyone has rommmates, and keeping secrets is very difficult.

ETA: however, there's always a drug scene in every ski town, and people can get into trouble if they cross the wrong people.

The village is very compact, crowded into a small valley surrounded by mountains. I don't think it's been reported where Ryan lived, but this faq states it was "just a few minutes away" from the party.
FAQ - MISSING: RYAN SHTUKA

Another factor is the amount of snow at the time he went missing. This photo shows police at the location at that time. With that much snow, it wouldn't be so easy to blindly/ accidentally wander off the road. police burfield drive - Google Search:

Just my feeling in this case, but I feel that for some unknown reason he didn't go back home but went somewhere, got hypothermia, and his body is just hidden in thick forest.

He was wearing Vans shoes. Definitely not made for hiking in deep snow. Also, there was mention of a text to a friend that indicated he (Ryan) left the party much earlier than 2:10 am (I think it was 1:40am), and there was speculation that he might have walked to dt Sun Peaks to get something to eat (pizza?). There is very little mention of this, but I think this piece of information is crucial as it means that Ryan was not heading home with his room mates but left alone.

“One of the theories is that he got disoriented on his walk home and wandered into the woods, but if there’s 13 feet of snow that’s not really a realistic theory for him getting any distance off the road. I think that’s good for people to understand,” Walton said.

These theories will be explored primarily through their interviews as opposed to voice-over, and one of the filmmakers’ goals is to uncover new information surrounding Shtuka’s disappearance.

“Depending on what people tell us, that could aim us in other directions that may not have been thoroughly investigated,” Walton said.

Walton, Featherstone and McVicar all have a variety of experience in video production, including projects for Marvel, Hasbro and Lu Lu Lemon, but this will be a story with much more emotion behind it.

“The scale of the mystery and the emotion involved, that’s the thing out of everything that’s probably the most new to us and something that we’ve been doing a lot of research on how best to approach and capture,” Walton said."

I think someone accidently hit Ryan with a vehicle while he was walking home that early morning & quickly removed him from the area. There is a great chance it's someone that was only a visitor at Sun Peaks there due to it being Family Day Long Weekend & they may never plan to be at Sun Peaks again...left and never looked back.

Sun Peaks tops list of non-resident homeowners

Maybe they should do a town hall meeting (of sorts) and invite every non-resident & resident homeowner and see who had renters or visitors that weekend???

Is there anyone who had a weekly renter that left early???? Or someone who left abrubtly???

MONDAY is the holiday on family day weekend, this happened early Saturday morning. Friday night being the first party night of the long weekend, in a ski resort town. So Ryan didn't make it into his own bed on the first night of the family day long weekend...WHO ELSE didn't sleep in their bed that night???

There are a lot of moving parts when you consider most people owning property at Sun Peaks do not live there full time.

LOTS of questions, i hope LE are leaving no stone unturned, now that Ryan likely NOT on that ski hill.

If it was just an accident, and he was left behind, he would have been there under the snow come spring.

He's not there.

Sorry for the pun, but how DEEP is this cover up???

I know someone who hit and killed a pedestrian, and they were never even charged. It was dark, the pedestrian was drunk, wearing dark clothing, and just walked in front of the car.

Hit and run is definitely a possibility when someone has an accident, but putting the dead body in your vehicle and driving off, a long distance home with it? And what in heck are your going to do with the body? Do you know anyone who has done this?

I’ve also wondered if a drunk driver IN sun peaks hit Ryan and then did something to conceal it. Leaving his body on the mountain would leave evidence. Taking him with them and relocating him would make the search much much harder, buying them all sorts of time..so far 7 months :(
This however would be quite sophisticated for someone to try and pull off.

I totally agree that cross referencing abrupt Check outs, odd hour check outs... etc as it could open up more possibilities... although perhaps too many? Would there be 100 people doing an early check out or 400? Or maybe only 25.....anyone not check out at all? Is this too great a task because of how many homes are there? How many homes are sub-let or Airbnb style? Or Just friends borrowing the space from a friend? Minimal interactions in instances like that potentially, so again... where does one start the narrow down process?
Was someone dumb enough to file a claim within a couple days for vehicle repairs?
Ugh.... there are so many variables to this case that it can become a never ending rabbit hole :(

For a long time I felt he fell asleep on a snow plow bank.... it snowed that night... enough to cover him.. and when the next plow run came thru they unknowingly scooped him up and piled him either further into that bank or that scoop was moved to a different location. I was certain once those big plow mounds melted they would find him. But nothing. It’s completely heartbreaking :(

It's BC....there are plenty of places remote enough, heck they could have put him in a (remote) garbage bin and Ryan was off to the landfill.

I am very glad to say I don't know of anyone who has done this.

It would be a simple task if it was more than one person in a pick up truck.

Further, it makes sense that more than one person is keeping this secret, IF he was removed from Sun Peaks.

ETA: WHERE IS Ryan???

BIG WELCOME to ConcernedMama...

Thanks for joining us, and being here for Ryan.

It's not really for us to figure out HOW LE would go about it, but they have the power, knowledge & ability.

It would be timely, sadly Ryan's family has nothing but time ATM...hopefully LE are looking at ALL the possibilities that might have taken Ryan out of the area in which he should/could/might have been found by now.

Thank you tarabull.

My heart aches for this family. This case hit close to me and weighs heavy on my heart as I found myself intoxicated and alone on a ski resort 2 years ago. I was at a staff party and everyone left the restaurant where we had dinner and partied a bit to go to a bar that was open late.... I was super drunk but realized I had left my purse behind so just turned around fast thinking it wasn’t far and before I knew it I was completely alone... nothing where I was was open and it was dumping snow. I was in a sheer shirt, tights and high heel boots. It was -15 and blowing snow. I wandered around aimlessly and totally disoriented for at least half an hour... I remember feeling so cold and wanted to stop and curl up and sit down but kept telling myself I wouldn’t wake up if I did that so kept going.... luckily I got back to an area where people were still out and about and a nice fellow walked me to where I needed to be.
When I heard of Ryan’s disappearance I was immediately taken a back. I instantly felt sick. How easily he could have got mixed up on where he needed to go. It all looks the same when you’re drunk, and it’s snowing. How easy it was for him to think “i just needed a break”. So sat down. And fell asleep... got covered in snow... then froze.
I wish so desperately that it’s just that easy. That even though he’s not coming back alive (highly unlikely anyway) that they find him where he stopped to take a break which is in a totally different location than anyone would have expected so that this part can all be over and they can close this horrific chapter. No matter what happened to him I just hope it’s not years from now before they find him.
