a landline with voice mail or an answering machine. it's funny how we love our phones but are realizing how much they (the hardware) keep tabs on us. Have you ever tried erasing your history text's from your phone? Some delete features are disabled to owners. I had a Samsung that one day upon my discovery had a cache of emails in text form saved from my Hotmail acct. That phone now is an odd bit of contemporary smashed art in my junk drawer.

It seems more young people these days do not have landlines and are always upgrading or replacing phones, service companies, prepaying, etc..

I am in the dark ages when it comes to cells. I have had the same BB for 3 years, the same phone number for 10 years. I am not tech savvy at all when it comes to all the bells and whistles.

Maybe if SB left the province she bought a phone in the current city... local digits, no LD, no roaming. But why leave the family suffering? Something is wrong.

As an aspiring actress, Shannon might be open to potential jobs , even if interviews occurred at late hours, in keeping with the entertainment business.
A young, attractive, spontaneous and newly separated woman, might be especially vulnerable, to slime-balls, imo.
What if she was lured or transported to a" job" in Vancouver or Toronto by an unscrupulous individual?

Anything is possible but then she becomes a physical hostage. Those looking for financial benefit from a woman like Shannon would use psychological control. Not straight out kidnapping. I doubt she is in either City. I wonder where the lead came from?

How many people go missing and their bodies are recovered much later? It happens too often.

Aling the river, there are so many secluded areas. Also as I mentioned above - along the train tracks. If I was searching for a missing person, those would be my first stops.

I got the impression, during the press conference, that the family and police had searched the areas near her house, and most likely between her house and the Inglewood Pubs.

There are two rivers: Bow River, Elbow River, neither of which is a good place to hide a body. If she's along the river, hopefully people out and about in the warmer weather will find her. A body along the train tracks would be seen by the train conductor in no time - and that hasn't happened.

I always love interpreting LE statements... It is an exercise in semantics.

My guess as to what they are *really* saying is - While they have no crime scene, no witnesses stating she was scared for her life, no reason to doubt potential suspects, no signs of a struggle or abduction... they are still proceeding as if any scenario is possible until such time one proves probable. IOW, they have no friggin clue what happened to her either way.

I think LE uses a lot of standard PR language as protocols. They said there was no suspected foul play early on in the Catie Miller case, probably for the reasons you stated - until they have something definite to link/proof foul play they can't publicly state it as per their protocols I'm assuming.

Quote regarding the Catie Miller case back in July (BBM):
"“At this point we don’t suspect foul play and it’s still continuing on as a missing person’s file"

Her sister was asked about medical issues during the press conference and she declined to answer.

I wonder why she wouldn't answer? I get that medical history and issues are personal and private but sometimes helpful to determine a person's state of mind. I guess if LE or the family didn't feel it pertinent to finding her, I guess they don't have to disclose that to the public. Curious though if there is anything to be concerned about...

The ongoing problem with Erlton/Spiller/Inglewood/9th ave is that it's both industrial and a transient route through town for the wheeled transient type,, it does have an edge that will take years to gentrify away. Go walk Spiller if you come back for a visit, then start meandering to the industrial belt of it,, you'll start walking tough or hail a cab (if you see one) I'm sure. Very interesting history, very Tom Waits and Charles Bukowski'ish, if you get my dright*. When I would leave home and go towards Downtown to meet up for drinks (when Vic Park was super sketchy) I would pack a crowbar down my pant leg, hooking the crow in my pant waist, or I'd pack a few D-Cell batteries in a sock. And I'm a big guy.

I have to say though, when I was in my mid-late 20s (especially after a couple drinks), I felt pretty cocky, street-smart and brazen to walk through some unpleasant areas of Vancouver. Went to a few high end and sketchy dive bars for fun.

I'm an artsy type also and was very inspired by all walks of life and thought these experiences of seeing/meeting lots of different people and exploring the city would make me a better writer/artist/actor (did brief Theatre classes in college), so I wasn't intimidated by sketchy people or places.

I could see SB being similar in that outlook, I get the feeling she loved people, all types and found inspiration in life and it's explorations. She doesn't seem to easily scare. JMO.

Many women have fallen prey to initially charming, but ultimately deceitful characters, who manipulate them into doing what they want..imo.

she couldn't make her friends wrap-up show on the 26th (redcarpet troupe) but another friend was doing stand-up at Yuk Yuks Elbow River Casino almost as close pending which way you go from her place,, Spiller to Erlton station, hop the train one stop to Stampede and you're on the Casino doorstep. Or if you walk ,McLeod Trail it would be 8 short blocks from the spiller round about way or a good half hour walk. both the lrt and the casino have cctv.

as a note, speculating about a homicide when no such thing has been announced and on a forum likely being read by her familyis in bad form imo.

Has anyone done a clandestine rendezvous to Lolita's Lounge? Is that tomorrow night at 8 ?? ... someone can put an ear to the ground and find out why that place is mentioned in relation to the disappearance of Shannon?

It seems like a long way to get across the bridge to either of the Yuk Yuks locations (and casino), so I think unlikely without her phone. If she forgot her phone at home and walked aways without it, it's quite possible that she would continue without it. But under those circumstances, I think she would have walked to the nearby comedy club, where she might bump into someone she knew (could possibly walk with to the club/casino), rather than walk the farther distance across the bridge without a phone. Lolita's Lounge would have been much closer.

I don't see anything illogical about pointing out the obvious: a woman that has been missing for more than a week, who has no reason to vanish, and under unusual circumstances ... she is probably no longer alive. That is a very clear possibility.

still not that kind of sketchy, but if you walk up east cordova/franklin going east out of Vancouver, erlton/spiller>>inglewood is more that kind of feel in the sketchy department. or walking up fraser from broadway. pain and wastings (main and hastings) isn't a sketchy neighbourhood but rather a unique community which outside of the crack and heroin use is actually quite low crime wise. but east cordova has that desperate unlit-ness about it,, it's also where willy pickton cruised. inglewood is much safer now too, if, you don't stray too much.

Some comedians get personal in their acts. Things like mental illness, divorce, crazy exes, etc might come out. I wonder if there are any recordings or podcasts of Shannon doing standup. In lieu of that, people in her comedy circle might know if there were any skeletons in her closet that she would openly discuss.

They should if it would help. I have seen other cases on here, several, where the family later admitted to knowing the missing person was depressed, but didn't want to release it. They feel it will cloud the judgement of people and cause nasty comments and IF the person comes home the person would be upset with them for sharing the private information. In every single case I am referring to, turns out they all committed suicide. It was never given. In each case they were positive the person wouldn't harm, leave the spouses, children, parents, friends, have no contact, etc. Must be an car accident, abduction, etc.

Releasing key info is so important. I have followed many cases on and off here and am so amazed at what families withhold and it is not because of LE. Also, people will leave their dogs, spouses, children, parents, families, friends, cell phones, social media etc. It happens constantly that people voluntary leave everything behind for whatever reason.

thing is, is that he close friend was playing at the casino and the lolitas gig I believe was sold out. her friend who was playing at the casino was also part of the troupe at lolitas but he was booked that night.

I wonder if she had pre arranged a ride with uber?

the red carpet troupe were asked by cps to ask regarding lolitas. check their twitter feed of webpage, it should be on here if not maybe modsnipped

So many places out there nice and not so nicer and those creepy lurkers are everywhere, so scary! Impossible to hide from I guess, the creepers are in the cities and country.

The bigger picture between where Shannon was last seen, in the 1900 block of Spiller Road SE Calgary, Lolita's Lounge, and Yuk Yuk's Comedy Casino (per theories upthread). This illustration is in no way related to any evidence. It is a map of her last location and two proposed locations where she may have intended to go after she was last seen.

Perhaps she was grabbed off the street. Perhaps she never left her house. Perhaps she'd had a couple of drinks, it seemed like a good idea to seek out friends at the corner pub at 12:30AM, she forgot her phone at home (did she?), and coincidentally that same night she was abducted walking to some nearby watering hole. How realistic is that? Is there a maniac running around Calgary streets abducting women within blocks of their homes and making them disappear? That seems to be the scenario, but one has to reject the "husband did it" theory before she can be placed outside of the house.

Is there surveillance footage of Shannon in Inglewood?
Is the last sighting of her at home?

I used to live in East Village and the only time I ever ran was when a pack of jack rabbits surrounded me. Those things are like kangaroos!

I lived on the 4th floor overlooking wide open abandoned East Village and saw some crazy stuff but never anything too scary. I would always walk in well lit streets and never did alone at night. My husband and I never had any altercations with anyone it was like we were invisible. We would walk past the Salvation Army (9th Ave.) most Friday nights coming from downtown and Inglewood always seemed so quiet during the day.

There is the park along the river between East Village and Inglewood (Fort Calgary). I am sure the family and friends have spent a good chunk of time searching the area.

OT - Then it must be a blessing to your ears when you hear the coyotes howl ... can't have jack rabbits without their primary predator: the coyote.

Under the train tracks near an alley is not a good place
for a young woman to walk in SE Calgary.
Is there any evidence that she left the house?
Is there any evidence at the house to suggest that she did not leave the house?

Why didn't the "estranged husband" answer Shannon's phone when it was ringing for five days?
Why didn't he reply to phone calls from the family five days after she left her phone behind?

Where is she?
Does he have a car?
Are her brakes fixed?
