Where is it written that she disappeared of the street, that she left the house after she got home from Edmonton, and that the 100 Hour Film Race is a prestigious film event?

Anyone with a camera is allowed to make a 5 minute film for once in a lifetime opportunity to win $1500.

The romantasizing of this "role" is beyond the pale.

Since no one knows if she was assaulted or abducted from the home, one would think ALL the family members would INSIST that LE go through the home with a fine tooth comb. If the husband was away at all, the place could have been cleaned up after an altercation.

BBM

It's not written anywhere that Shannon disappeared off the street.
All we know is that her family is very concerned because she seems to have vanished from the planet.
There are several possibilities when someone vanishes: suicide, spousal homicide, random abduction/murder ... and perhaps she chose to vanish off the face of the earth.

We know that she returned from the audition, and we know that she was awarded to part at the audition: http://www.socialhelpers.tv/news-feed/

"This is for the 8th Annual 100 Hour Film Race. We need an actress asap, as the actress cast to play the part is now missing. We are looking for a female mid 20's. The show must go on.... please spread the word. Thank you! ~ 2 weeks ago"

Any high school student with a camera can make a film, but only the best are allowed to compete in the 100 hour film festival competition ... don't underestimate what is not understood.

I don't believe there is any romatication of the role. What we know is that her husband last saw her at the home they shared, and now she is missing. The family has been completely cooperative. The husband was not away when Shannon "left" her home at 12:30AM late on Wednesday, Nov 26, 2014.

What?

An ad for an "actress" last minute, on an obscure website somehow proves the role was the chance of a lifetime? That ad, in fact, proves it's a small time, anyone will do, who cares about this role... film role.

The contest is open to anyone. Anyone, can submit the 5 minute video they shoot by uploading it to the people running the contest. It has to be written, filmed and submitted in 4 days.

Real filmmakers, would call the agents of the actors, or contact ACTRA to find talent. In fact, these videos are not allowed to use professional actors.

" Q.* Can I use SAG-AFTRA actors in my film?

A.* At this time, no.* We do not currently have an agreement with SAG-AFTRA for the 100 Hour Film Race 2014 which means that actors belonging to this union may not participate as actors in any 100 Hour Film Race 2014 film.* However, they may participate in non-acting roles such as writing, directing, editing, etc..."

With the family being so cooperative, LE wouldn't even require a search warrant if they had the husband's permission to search the home, right? A spray here and a spray there of that stuff that turns color when it mingles with blood, even washed up blood.. LE never knows what they might find !

I think this article was posted in the thread already, it was one of early articles when she first went missing and then updated again Dec 11th. Again, could be bad journalism but I don't remember reading these details early on (except we all know about the messy divorce info)...but I might've just missed these details (BBM):

"She skipped her weekend rehearsals and engagements, and was last seen in her Inglewood apartment on Wednesday. Burgess is undergoing a messy divorce, and her sister Erin Madill said Burgess may be in distress".

“If she’s hanging out with someone we’re not aware of we’d just appreciate it if she would let the police know,” Madill said.

I sure hoped they searched her home and JB obliged to it. A sad thought is, if the husband is involved, spray would be of no use if he strangled her or his hands were used...gross, sorry, a bit graphic when I'm trying to stay optimistic.

If you did that at 25, you will most likely do that at 55. However, even though you typically tuck your hands in your sleeves, would you be stupid enough to decide to walk 6.5 blocks with your hands tucked into your sleeves when you have already decided to leave your cell phone at home, and it was a nearly 7 block walk? Even people that tuck their hands into their sleeves for five blocks know better than to leave their mitts at home for 7 blocks. Although it isn't exactly 7 blocks on the map, it's1.2 km from Shannon's townhouse to Lolita's lounge.

10 blocks = 1 mile
6.5 blocks = 1 kilometre

The walking distance taking the shortcut under the train bridge to 9 Ave SE is 1.2 kilometres ... 7 blocks ... too far for someone that knows the climate to voluntarily walk without mitts, and a toque.

I could do it and would have done it many times. It was only -1 celsius. I don't think that is absurd or stupid at all for not wearing gloves.

She could have had a pair of gloves stuffed into her coat pocket or that handcuff style that is sewn into coats or sweatshirts (my prefered choice). But since we do not even have a description of the coat she could have worn I think gloves would be a needle in a haystack. Especially if they are those cheep stretchy knit gloves that most own and most lose and you can even see strays laying in the streets of Calgary.

Yes... someone keeps reporting as fact, that she left the home. We don't know that. If she did leave, it could have been at any time since she was last seen... even one or two days later.

The phone is critical. Who contacted whom, when, and where the phone was located could be very pertinent information, including the browsing history. If she used a third party text app, the timestamps of the received texts could be different than the time sent... it can prove when the phone was on... off... and cross referenced with stories told.

The phone company should have lots of interesting information as well...

I think the lingo in the article might be bad, usually an article would read 'last seen at her home' not 'in' her home, that just sounded weird to me.

And I don't recall EM ever mentioning her sister may be in distress, does anyone else remember hearing/reading that? Again, I might've just missed stuff, but that's an interesting comment.

Yes, the mighty cell phone. I'm assuming LE confiscated it from the home to do technical forensics on. Even if someone thinks they've deleted evidence, history, texts, browsing etc. I think LE and their computer forensics team are able to retrieve what was deleted/erased. So much hidden info in those phones!

Today I was in NE Calgary looking something up on a map while I sat in my car. Suddenly I heard someone trying to open my car door. I turned around and a man around 40 was peering in. I got so scared. I jumped and almost let out a scream. He immediately backed away from the car door and looked apologetic. What would have happened if my car hadn't locked. Was it a mistake or was he looking for cars to rob or to do a car jacking? The world is a dangerous place for women, we are smaller a weaker. There was a case just a few weeks ago where a full grown woman in the states was dragged into a car by a man

You are lucky, nothing serious happened. I have learned a valuable lesson about this as well and when I am in a parking lot and if I need the window down I only open my sunroof and my doors are always locked.
In the summer I was parked in strip mall parking lot in fromt of an optometry clinic. My husband had run into the shop and my son and I waited in the vehicle. I was in the driver's seat, my son in his booster seat in the back. It was hot out so I rolled the front windows down and my son and I were playing a game and I was talking to him and looking at him thru my rear view mirror. I wasn't paying attention to anyone in the parking lot. Suddenly this guy comes out of nowhere and quickly swipes his arms and hands thru my window and into the side compartments of my door, he was grabbing whatever he could. I am sure he knew I was in the car. I yelled at him and and startled him that he wasn't able to grab anything... I didn't have anything. But he did drop a prescription bottle. It was so weird. By the end of it i had a crying child and I was flustered so after my husband came back I went into the store and told them of the prowler and they gave me a description to which I think sounded like him. Apparently he does it all the time and it is reported regularly. A couple months later I saw him in a neighboring strip mall lot.

Anywho... There is an unsolved carjacking incident in Calgary at the moment.

Finger-less mitt hybrid?! lol, that cracked me up.

We called them handcuffs when they first came out. A family from Calgary had a marketing company about 15 years ago and claims to have invented them. He had them stitched in the sleeves of hoodies. True story!

I actually wondered if the ad was intentional to attract attention... As in, it was baloney...JMO

I think at one point the description of Shannon was that she wore glasses. I wonder if they found them in the home and if her contact lenses, solution and storage case were missing...

Whoah scary! So many strange people out there, no one expects these things to happen. Some thieves and criminals are so brazen to do this stuff.

That's awesome, sometimes all you need is a pair of fingerless gloves! I have a hoodie that has a thumb hole in the cuff so the sleeve works as partial gloves, I feel so tough in it lol!

That's a great thought, whether the contacts or glasses were at home might help serve as a clue…

If she left on her own that would complicate things because then she'd have to go through the trouble to get an appointment with an optometrist to get another prescription to get glasses/contacts. That just seems like it would be an inconvenience for someone who might be traveling far to Toronto or Vancouver. If she was hypothetically suicidal or foul play is involved it'd be expected that they both be at home.

I do remember reading that. Perhaps just in the one story which also stated about the 'messy divorce', both of which could be bad reporting, who knows?? Why would she be in distress? Why would the divorce be messy if they were friends and got along 'quite' well and still lived together? Living together through a divorce.. that would be like self-imposed, wished-for messy. And although last seen 'in' the home might be weird, that is probably because that is exactly where she was last seen. I wonder when she 'left', and how, and with whom, and why, and where was she off to? How could nobody know anything?

I think the lingo in the article might be bad, usually an article would read 'last seen at her home' not 'in' her home, that just sounded weird to me.

Shannon has clearly met with foul play. Hopefully they will recover her soon but no guarantees. It could be years before they find her.

This is the short notice recruiting for the part that Shannon got, but she was missing.

http://www.socialhelpers.tv/news-feed/

Regardless of anyone that puts down, or denigrates, the quality of Shannon's career, she is missing.
Shannon Madill (nee Burgess) was last seen in her home in the 1900 Block of Spiller Road SE Calgary.
We don't know whether she vanished at 12:30AM at her home, or if she was abducted on the street, or whether she chose to end her life. The only thing we know is that the last sighting of her and all communication with her was at her home; shared with her estranged husband ... that two bedroom Housing Co-Op option where the minimum income had to be above $43k.

If she did not leave out the Townhouse ground level door (is that a sliding patio door, or a single door?), then she had to walk out a door near the building exits and near parking lots. If she walked out either of the ground-level doors in her housing co-op building

Is it possible the Shannon walked out of the ground floor of her townhouse and she was immediately grabbed in the parking lot near her home, or on Spiller Road, and she vanished? Yes. Is it likely? No.

That Shannon left her home seems clear ... and I'm assuming that the husband has cooperated with a search warrant with/without probably cause and that police have ruled out all possibility that anyone, like Shannon, lost her life in the Townhouse. If a search of the home ... and whether her mitts and toque are missing ... has not been done then there is a problem with the husband. There is not a good reason for a husband to
