The pattern of silence among her friends and family tells me it's universal knowledge of a voluntary disappearance. Haven't seen anything like it, as far as involuntary disappearances go...

I wonder what type of relationship she had with her parents and siblings. They said that it was unusual for her not to call or show up for that long but it doesn't mean that they were in good terms.

If Shannon has some kind of mental illness or is very vulnerable, it's possible that conflict arose between her and the rest of her family and she decided to take off without telling them. But she was supposed to meet her brother (can't remember what day exactly) for a show or something so she must have been in good terms with him, if not with everyone else.

And there is the dog. And the ''estranged'' husband. And her friends. About her friends in Alliance, I know some of them wrote about how they liked her and that they hoped she was found quickly. She hadn't been playing with them for a couple of years so maybe the friends she made there also left Alliance before she went missing. Newbies wouldn't feel concerned because they barely or simply didn't know her.

But I find it odd that there weren't many reposts about her disappearance among her friends. Did she have any close friends?

IF someone harmed her, and if that someone is close to her, how hard would it be for that person to tell everyone around that she'd been talking about going away for a while, or that she was feeling depressed...?

Also, if I recall it correctly, she had just gotten a part in a small movie (the Edmonton audition thing), so why would she leave like that after traveling all the way to and from Edmonton. It doesn't make any sense. And she posted on Facebook not long before disappearing. If she's the one who posted the comments, she didn't sound depressed or like she was about to leave for a new life.

Strange, strange case. I really, really hope LE are doing their best to find her.

I've been looking through that, and it's definitely got more than the RCMP's site, but there are a number of profiles that have not been updated to show that the person has been located. Unfortunately, the number of inactive cases draws attention away from the cases of people who are still missing.

Hi, apologies for that. I am just one person and sometimes its hard for me to get information that someone was found. If you are browsing the site and see I have listed a missing person that was located please feel free to click the contact us link and provide me a link to the article or police release stating the person was found and I would be happy to update it :)

CM and TM recently posted/shared the missing photos of Nick Lush and Jessica Newman on their FB profiles. The fact that they're sharing other missing people's photos is a good sign, albeit still strange not another share of Shannon's post….

I know many of these posts are shared by families of non-missing on FB and make their round and numbers frequently, but by them posting seems to acknowledge that people (although not Shannon's) are missing. Just an observation, not quite sure what to make of the conscious non-posting and sharing of their own missing family member, there is a reason for it, curious to find out what it is one day.

I still am finding it really odd that there is no mention of her, no missing persons FB page. Nothing not a word. And as mentioned before I know Shannon's sister from a distance. Why is there no search in any way for her? And by that I mean not even FB posts. Why would LE say don't express concern. That would be silly. As that helps generate new leads. For some reason they are not looking for her. I believe they already know and are building a case. For some reason there seems to be no reason to look for her.

Imo only, it is simply wishful thinking that LE already know and are building a case. There just becomes a point in a MP investigation where there is nothing more to say, leads have been checked out, nothing new has come forward, no side searches are being done by family or friends, she has become a cold case until she is found, one way or another.. I hope she is found by fishermen, or hikers, or whomever, very very soon, so LE can move forward with the rest of their investigation. MOO

You don't become a cold case a month later. There was another case in the city where a woman was a missing person for 2 years. Husband said she went out one day and never returned. 2 year LE said nothing. She was a "cold case" missing person. Then one day they had enough and searched the house. The husband had killed her and stashed her body in the house. LE new she was dead along time ago but had to wait till they had enough.

The Likness case they new the trio were killed the moment they walked into the crime scene. But left it a missing persons case while they waited for forensics to come back and until they had enough evidence to descend on the acreage and gather the rest of the evidence and arrest.

Very quickly following SB's disappearance it went quiet. Christmas came and went and there was no miss you Shannon. Nothing. It's extremely odd. And LE's always know more then they say and build their case.

So it's not just us outsiders that find it too quiet, you sound surprised that Shannon's sister/family are being quiet as well it sounds like.

Not to get too personal, but are you FB friend's with Shannon's sister? I only ask because I found it odd that there doesn't seem to be any sharing, and panicked FB pleas/posts but then I thought maybe it's because of the privacy settings and we just can't see. No pressure to answer, just curious if it is that spooky quiet where there's no even a mention or concern.

I think the same as you - LE are watching and waiting on something as well and family is being instructed from them. I just don't find it logical for family/friends to act this way, it doesn't make sense. Even if a grown adult left on their own free will, the family would still be pleading for a 'please call' so we can hear your voice and know you're fine kinda thing.

You would think that would hint to the perp (if there is one) that something is up.

Yeah, could work either way. Too much activity could spook a perp if there is one, and too quiet could alert him as well.

The fact that the husband isn't saying nil either is strange and if he is a person of interest, you'd think he'd be going crazy looking for his estranged wife (to act concerned so to not be suspicious). Even estranged spouses who might be on bad terms or not friends should be a little worried about someone they once loved or knew.

This whole case is fishy to me and people don't seem to be acting as expected in a situation like this, very weird.

Personally, I think the reason for the family staying quiet is because of their close ties to law enforcement. IIRC the family made comment that they had ties to LE, I have no idea what. I think the family was very well prepped as to how to appear, respond, and protect their privacy so as to let the authorities deal with it which has also saved them additional grief and stress of having to manage a public plea search thru social media.

Good point, I forgot the family is tight with LE. LE might have warned family/friends to be aware of sites like this and others that might be too invasive for them. And yeah, the social media stuff can spiral out of control with trolls, comments, false leads/sightings, etc. It might be easy for family to get too overwhelmed with all the online stuff, so being quiet would actually be a smart thing to do. It would be so hard (at least if it was me!), but might be for the best in the long run.

Ya I am friends with EM on FB and it's silent. The last activity regarding her missing was a friend wanted to put up missing posters at an event SB would have regularly attended. It's completely silent. Even if LE said to keep quiet or whatever how do you go through Christmas and everything saying nothing. Not even miss you or wish you were here. The only people who do comment on SB's FB page is the odd friend. It went silent very quickly after her disappearance. Even the press conference was odd. But so was the Likness one. Also the relationship between the husband and SB's family is really odd. Zero connection through FB with each other. There are too many odd factors around this case. I have never had a good feeling about it.

Thanks for the info, I guess we'll wall wait patiently for any new developments.

I feel like if SB did walk away from her life deliberately she would've came around by now and opened up some sort of communication either on social media or to her family. Unless she's suffering from a mental health issue and not thinking rationally, but again, if she was suffering from this, the family would surely be looking hard for her to protect her from herself if that makes sense.

Ya as a missing person's case something is not right. IMO they arn't searching for her for a reason. They arn't talking about her for a reason. What would be the explanation to not have a reason to look for her? I can only think of one.

Shannon belonged to a number of off the grid groups, it seems. If she was known for joining and partaking in some misunderstood (by family) activities, it's possible they know her whereabouts. It's also possible that they are getting some comfort from the fact that she was/is such a free spirit, and that she had probably just taken a sabbatical somewhere...probably easier than thinking the worst.

  • #758
If they did know the police would release a statement just saying that she was found in good health and no further information would be provided.

  • #759
I've confirmed with my connection to the family that they have not been given any new update on Shannon. They still only know what we have been told in the media. So LE is not saying anything if they are looking at the possibility of JB being involved.

I'm curious to know who of you think she'll be found alive..? (gut feeling or rational thinking...)
