No way. If LE or MSM says there is no illness or that they won't discuss it, then the person's own testimony is not relevant.

Perhaps a study of eyes or a layout of the co-op is a better avenue of investigation.

I think maybe someone should submit a tip to LE about the eye thing.

Also from your link:

"Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page... Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect..."

I think that's what threw me off. Don't know, really...

We can link to it, just not copy and paste and no Reddit links, but we can say we read something there, but again, no copy and paste. Considering this is a sleuthing site, most people can find the information with a few clues.

The problem is that information that is not linked to a legitimate site is rumour ... and therefore not really relevant.

I see. So are you saying that we should abandon any focus on SB's facebook posts as well, as that is not a "legitimate site" and is "rumour?"

Shannon must not have had a dog then, it's just a rumour. And the brakes thing is just a rumour.

Back to the drawing board I guess...anyone up for studying facial expressions? I think LE would be very interested in that.

The rules are clearly spelled out on this website. I simply provided the link. It's best to consult with a moderator if there are questions about interpreting that content.

I'm simply confused when I read unlinked quotes that apparently reference a three year old remark from a blocked website ... perhaps there's an opportunity to discuss those points on that blocked website, because discussing it here probably leaves a lot of people scratching their heads with confusion.

So, that's it folks, SB's Facebook is irrelevant, especially from 3 years ago. Eyes it is.

You're not on Facebook I take it? That is why you are "scratching your head" - because you can't read the links we are allowed to post since they are the MP's?

I thought it was fairly clearly spelled out that I'm confused about the three year old quotes that have been posted without a link. By all accounts, Shannon was a perfectly healthy, happy actor that simply vanished from her own home in the middle of the night. Because the family has stated that the missing woman "may be in distress" (not an uncommon description of a missing person), that's been switched up to suggest that she was in distress and therefore she is missing. Police - who to not appear to be flustered - are described as "flustered". Police statements, where no comment whatsoever was made about Shannon's medical history, are side stepped with something written on a blocked website three years ago. It all gets very confusing when there's no way to follow up on the comments.

In my 'transcription' of the presser, he did not identify himself, however I discovered his name with a bit of looking around. He seemed to become, in my humble opinion, a little flustered when speaking about i)medical issues; ii)the credit card questioning; and iii)what was remaining in the house. If you watch the presser again perhaps you will notice it too. A bit more fumbly with words, and a bit of awkward body language, in comparison to his words and body language throughout the rest of the presser. MOO

The experienced police spokesperson was "flustered" during the press conference? What did he do?

I have never got the impression that anyone (aside from you) was confused. Most people are on FB and routinely search the MP'S page for clues and updates. Maybe you should join the rest of the world... Sign up for FB!

I'm not the only one who is confused, because my request for links is obviously related to the quoted comments from Reddit.

Not allowed to link, however we are allowed to say what was said. SB mentioned her trip to NZ on her FB. She was IN NZ when she posted, and talked also in advance of the trip, asking about what she could keep busy with during the long plane trip.. and then also talked about the dates she would be arriving back in Calgary.

What trip to NZ?

Where is the link?

Actually, in looking at the rules, it looks like the post CAN be linked, and posts can also be paraphrased. BBM:

Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Without a link, does it make it untrue?

Obviously, most of the personal information on missing persons cases come from blogs and FB which can't be linked, which means we have to read them off this site.

What's Reddit?

I know this has been mentioned much further upthread, but as it may be relevant to what's being discussed again, I'll re-post:

<bbm>
SB:
"At the same time I had several major stressors and through the next 15 months I made a slow transition into a complete mental break down. I am doing much better now, but because of the life style changes I have had to make to get myself here I am not as active and have started putting the weight back on.
I liked my weight the past year. I always felt beautiful, even though I was misserable, and I want to bring myself back to it, but I am worried that it may have been a major factor towards my mental health issues."

Take what you will from that, but it seems clear to me that her mental health should not be ruled out as a factor in her disappearance.

Could you please provide a link for the above quote. A google search of that information has two sources: Websleuths, and Websleuths - no link for the statement that is attributed to the victim.

Here's a head scratcher...

What do the rules say about intentionally quoting a quote from a social network, immediately after quoting the rules about quoting social networks?

Is the quote from a social network? The author of the comment appears to be unfamiliar with the Reddit site.

Indeed... but the author of post #454 claimed it's from Reddit without a link.

She already admitted that she was unaware about the copy/paste and took steps to edit it. We are within the rules however, to provide paraphrasing and directions as to the original blog. Considering it is the MP'S own blog, it is worth considering and well within the rules.

I'm not sure if everyone is only interested in reading what has been correctly or incorrectly reported in MSM (they often make mistakes and don't bother correcting them), but for those interested in reading some things that the missing person herself has written (so we could assume those things to be true, from herself), do a search for 'shanswers reddit', and you will find a page full of her writings.. not only her own writings of herself, but also answers/replies to others, as it seems she participated frequently a couple of years ago. If, when you see the page with her shanswers name on it, if you then click on her name, you will come up with her 'own' page, which contains her own posts (as opposed to everything, including her replies and helpful hints and advice to other posters). Since LE and family do not wish to talk about personal things, or anything much at all, even though things do exist, information can be gleaned from that site, even though we are not allowed to post a link here, or quote what was said.
